- Can penetrate a large amount of both deflector shielding and armor
- Tank Killer: The Pyrestar is designed as a tank killing weapon, its huge range, accuracy and armor piercing ability let its shells punch through enemy AFVs with ease. Even the most heavily armored of tanks may be gutted with a single round.
- Destabilized: As the plasma encased shells penetrate a target they begin to have their plasma layer destabilize, throwing out huge amounts of heat and wreaking havoc inside any vehicle hit.
- Splash Radius: The Pyrestar is not suited to use against infantry targets, as its rounds do not explode or create any other splash damage effect. The plasma encased shells produce little if any shrapnel when hitting most surfaces, and it relies on a direct hit to deal any real damage.
- Conspicuous: The energy signature of this weapon firing is easily detectable by most sensor systems, and the location the shot originated from will be immediately obvious to enemy tanks and low flying vehicles.
Designed as a dedicated tank-killing counterpart to the more flexible Torchstar Smoothbore Cannon, the Pyrestar boasts increased range and armor piercing ability in exchange for rate of fire. The weapon was designed to be mounted on a sister vehicle to the Bonfire Superheavy Tank, accompanying it in a mixed superheavy formation to deal with equivalent or heavier armor while the Bonfires screen it against anti-tank teams and smaller armored vehicles. In addition to its impressive armor penetrating and after armor ability of the gun, it has the range and accuracy to out-range many equivalent vehicles and destroy them before it can receive return fire. In combat simulations, Pyre armed tanks working with infantry spotter teams or reconnaissance aircraft have “destroyed” entire incoming enemy tank formations without a single hostile vehicle reaching their own engagement range.
