Question about leveling Force powers

I've added Force powers to my character bio; the one's I think a trained Force-using monk/assassin would be trained in. How does Chaos quantify expertise so I can stat him up properly? Levels 1-10? Initiate/Seasoned/Master? None? Other? Since Junn was selected to be frozen in carbonite he would have been well-trained, but he's also a new character, so I don't want to write mastery of these powers, especially since new Jedi & Sith start as padawans & apprentices.

There is none. You level them up as you see fit. (How I see it) the more you use and train in said ability/s you will get better at control and use even how much or long you can use it.

Well there is no rule to have any stats, but some people use charts to specify them, if they want to. They can be in numbers/ranks/colors or basically anything else you want. If you want to see an example look at the second post of Abyss bio.

I particularly like the 12 level Apprentice/Lower Knight/Upper Knight/Master thing I have going for Imperia's skills. (Check the bio if you'd like to see what I mean~)

There is no rule. Common sense is generally what is considered appropriate. A Sith Acolyte shouldn't be throwing around Force Lightning as effortlessly as he breathes for example. Use Force powers in threads, discover them by accident or use another character to train you, or an NPC, or holocrons, etc. Different people take different approaches. For example most of the time when I have Jamie learn a Force power it's generally by accident, a spur of the moment panic that triggers her using something that she later learns more about through training or research.

You don't have to have a chart with your character's abilities, but some people do. I find it messy and a nuisance to keep track of, when most people rarely pay it any mind anyway.

Hope that helps :)

For all my FUs I use a 9-level chart, and with those two that had the most IC screentime, it seems that, most of the time, actually learning it on the field (based on, unfortunately, real-world scientific knowledge they have) is the most common mechanism, and that they use it mostly in small doses afterward, except for IAC, where, by now, both these characters can use them on virtually every occasion they have for piloting in hyperspace.

No rule. Common sense.

Such as,
  • Apprentice is learning their stuff
  • Knight knows their stuff
  • Master is wicked awesome at their stuff

Something like that, or, what the others provided examples of above. :D

I plan for a list in time but for now go off what i feel would make sense for my charatcers. For isntance my Sith Acolyte who is a Mirukala knows more force talents than my Corellian jedi partly cause shes lived with it all her life. To her the force is just a fact and thus shes never questioned using it as it's also hwo se literily sees at all.
