Alright, for everyone interested, here is the idea =D
I want to create a story of where Sorin discovers that he is not entirely "normal" or human, by any stretch of the imagination. Drawing inspiration from multiple sources, such as Deadpool, Doctor Who, and various spiritual beliefs, I will have this span across the majority of my writing, in some form or another. Part of this will require a species submission to the Codex, and developed in different ways across various threads. I imagine that this will probably go through several revisions, but that's okay. To simplify the species submission, he will be the only one of his kind. With posting this here, I'd love to hear people's opinion of my ideas, what works, what doesn't, and see if anyone would be interested in tagging along for the ride =)
His creators are vague to me currently, but I do have a clear direction: I want Sorin to be old. Extremely old. This doesn't translate to being wise, powerful, or knowledgeable, as you'll see. Biologically engineered, he is one of various experiments performed with one goal: creating a being capable of containing large amounts of Force energy. In essence, becoming the closest thing to a walking Force Nexus as possible. Incredibly demanding, he is the sole survivor of this dark project, where all others failed, but he too is labeled a failed experiment. Successful in absorbing Force energy, he acquires it by simply living, being in environments saturated by the Force. To him, it is like breathing, not like Force Drain where the energy of a being is taken, but by standing in places where the Force runs strong, like drinking water from a river. Unfortunately, he cannot turn it off, and continuously "drinks", unable to stop. His body cannot handle containing all of the energy. It is similar to pressurizing a container; if the container cannot handle it, it bursts. Another example is magma inside of a volcano: with the build of pressure, eventually it will explode. Deemed a failure by his creators because of this inevitable outcome, the project is scrapped, and Sorin was left to die.
And he did, then something unexpected happened. The energy explosion killed him, but simultaneously healed him. This process repeats for many, many years. Each time, he is unsure of who he is, nor what's happening to him. Think of it like reincarnation; every time he heals, he doesn't remember anything of what happened before. As he slowly wanders the galaxy, he encounters a few Masters of the Force, whether they be Jedi, Sith, or neither, but he can never find the answers he needs, and continues to die, over and over again. By some strange twist of fate, he encounters individuals that cause a reaction unlike anything he could dream: he drained their body of their soul. Like a reverse Transfer Essence, their soul enters his body, but they all remain: multiple souls in one body. The more people this occurred with, the longer he could go without exploding. This caused a few unexpected side effects: sometimes they were aware of each other, and sometimes when he healed, his body transformed into that individual, with them in control. This flip flop of energy, body, and soul continues for many years. Eventually, he somehow stabilizes at 13 souls, or at least as much as he can be, without exploding every decade or so.
His current self, the red head, is his original appearance. When everyone is capable of being aware of each other, they appear as "voices" in his head. Sometimes they remember the past, but are more concerned with the state of the whole. There are two side effects of "drinking" residual Force energy. One is that when it pressurizes to a certain point, it causes him constant pain, like being crushed under a heavy weight. If not given an outlet, the pain increases. There are occasions will his body will start to break down, beginning to destroy itself from the inside out. The second side effect is that he is constantly healing his injuries. The more energy he has contained, the faster the process. This conflicts with his body breaking down, because as it breaks, it heals him; a body trying to die, but not allowed to, creating a greater amount of pain as the pressure builds to new heights. In certain "lives", as he has come to call them, he will live for varying amounts of time, depending on circumstances. If left alone and away from sources of Force energy, such as a Force Nexus, he can live for centuries. Stick him in society, being hunted, and around Force Nexuses, and his life span shrinks dramatically.
For his current history, he was found by Michael Vanado, his "father", and implanted with memories of a childhood he never had, given the name "Sorin Vanado". Michael is obsessed with trying to understand Sorin's DNA, and with the help of two others, have tried their best to keep him away from Force users and anyone else who might know anything about him. The only thing they are certain of right now is that while he was labeled a "failure", his ability for the Force is remarkable, should he ever develop it in each of his lives. The flip side to this is that as a walking Force Nexus, he becomes a bigger target for anyone trying to find him. The more he develops his abilities, the more difficult for Sorin to hide his presence in the Force. As such, they have tried to make sure he doesn't start to, before they can learn more about his biology.
So far, the only thing I have established in Sorin's story is that he is hearing voices in his head, so far two, and is slowly awakening his ability to use the Force. One of the voices does control him from time to time, should he be in over his head, but that's about it.
I hope you've enjoyed the reading, and if you guys have any suggestions for me, I'd love to hear them =D
