Question with regard to Flagships

Grand Admiral, First Order Central Command
The rules stipulate a 400-thread post, joinable by other factions.

Given that keeping a coherent storyline through 400 posts can be tricky, especially if one is intending to progress from planning, to building, to launching/testing/etc, is it permissible to have multiple threads for a Flagship while keeping the 400 post count (and 7 writer minimum). Like say, four separate threads, each around 100 posts, each focusing around a different conflict but all dedicated to some aspect of launching the Flagship?

Presumably these would be completed in phases, so you wouldn't run all four at once (or would that be okay?).

Perhaps I am totally off-base here and this is not seen as an issue to others. /shrug

From what I have been told it is a requirement for it to be a single thread, through which the focus must be on the development/creation/etc of the flagship in question with the allowance of public opposition. The conflict itself is not the focus of the thread, nor should it be, but rather the creation and designing of the flagship in question. I understand your concerns, however, and if you have an idea you think may remedy concerns you might have of this then I ask that you make a suggestion to the staff elaborating on your thoughts.

Well the concept I had was a set of four threads, each a minimum of 100 posts, each covering one phase of the construction. The potential for opposition would be present in each phase. First would be planning, with the other side attempting to steal or destroy the plans. Second would be gathering resources, with the opposition disrupting/destroying gathering operations, third would construction (opposition would be sabotage) and fourth would be testing and launch, with the opposition in a last-ditch attempt to destroy the mostly inoperable ship.

That could of course all be done in one thread, it just doesn't flow well in my mind, as each phase is rather distinct in its goals.

And building off the initial question, would it be considered metagaming or something to set up opposition in the thread ahead of time, like is sometimes done in Dominions?

The most important step is always the next one
There are many many stages to "Developing" and "Constructing" a flagship. Even keeping a coherent story for a 100 post dom has proven difficult for many. Doing that while keeping the 400 post minimum all in one thread for creating a flagship seems a bit unnecessary and can become confusing very quickly.

I personally feel like the 400 posts in one thread being difficult is the entire point. Flagships aren't meant to be easy to get, they're supposed to be the ceiling of what an entire major faction can achieve putting into a single ship. The Executor took what? Two and a half years of work for an Empire that spanned the galaxy? That kind of commitment should be what major factions are putting in for a 5km vessel, in my unimportant and unqualified personal opinion.
