Questions and Answers....(part 1)

Galactic Republic
Ossus
Jedi Shadow Enclave

Heart pounding, breath coming in gasp, boots pounding into the soft dirt of the forest. As Kian pushed through the overgrowth, a branch slapped him across the check, cutting his face just next to his anti-ox mask. He couldn't slow....he could hear them behind him....he could feel them closing in on him.

Leaping over a downed tree, Kian's foot slipped on the mossy ground he touched down on and he almost went down. He didn't, but he slowed. He heard them crashing through the brush behind him. He swore he could feel their breath on the back of his neck.....it wouldn't be long now....

Just as Kian could feel the jaws clamping down around his neck his surroundings shifted....it was a dark corridor with triangular walls....strange carvings all over them. Kian reached out to touch them, to feel the engraving in the stone. As he did so, his hand felt cold and slick...pulling it away he found it covered in blood....

Then he was before the alter again....kneeling. Before him stood a darkly clad figure, their robes black as night. Beside them was a figure clasped in brilliant, bright white robes....so white it was nearly blinding. They seemed to be mumbling, though Kian could not make it out....nor could he make out the items each clasped in their hands as they began to...

Kian's eyes popped open and it took him several minutes to realize he was kneeling on the padded floor of his bedroom in the secure basement of the Jedi Shadow Enclave on Ossus. He looked down at his hands and was surprised to see he was gripping his lightsaber, so tightly it felt as if he would break it. Then he realized that the rasping sound he had awoken to was his own breathing coming and going in gasps through his breath mask.

Glancing over at the chrono, Kian shoot his head in irritation. Three hours....that was all the rest he had gotten before the nightmares woke him up. They had been happening for some time now and the intensity was increasing. A great Jedi than Kian may have been able to interpret the dreams more, seeing them as force visions, but Kian was never that type of Jedi. But he could no longer ignore these dreams.

"Send a message to Master Ricon." Kian said to CG-50 his protocol droid, who had come out of its rest mode the moment Kian had risen and started getting ready. "I want a meeting with Jedi Qual and her at dawn." Kian said.

"Yes sir." The droid said.

Whatever these dreams meant....it was time Kian faced them head on.

"These visions, have you had them for a long time?"

A black finger curled like a talon against the scar on her chin as her ember eyes remained fixed on the acolyte kneeling at her feet.

"No, master. They come only in fleeting, in dreams. At first, I thought that was all they were, but..."

"Apprentice, do not be hesitant with your words. You who are so often sharp witted."

The Nezumi looked up at the much larger Rattataki, compared to Akito Koushou, Darth Ophidia appeared as gigantic in form as she was in her forceful presence. On her ashen face there was an expression of care, not like a parent to a child or pet to an owner, but like a craftsman to her artfully carved image - As though she inspected some new facet of her work, yet to be refined..

"When I wake, it feels like a dream, yet pieces of it lingers with me: Two figures, one black, one white, locked in strife. Shapes against a light so bright it burns like the sun" The nezumi's eyes narrowed as though she was just staring at it now. "And a map." She looked up at her master.

"And you are certain" "Yes my Lord" "Absolutely certain." The Nezumi looked at her with fierce determination. "Know that if this is only a dream, a fantasy, a wild bantha chase, then it would be better for you to crash your ship into a sun than come back to me empty-handed. is that understood, Akito Koushou?." The mouse did not break eye-contact, nor did she blink or waver. "Very well, young Betterthanthou, I will show you how to harness these visions, and you will bring me to that map."

Akito knelt before her master, head bowed almost to the floor

"Thank you, my master."

Akito was not the only one among the Assassins to have such visions, and Darth Ophidia knew now that whatever issued these visions must be some powerful divergence in the Force. Even she had seen.. things in her meditations. It was a most distressing situation, and a most curious quest.

OOC: I regret to inform that Darth Ferus has withdrawn his slot, but I think we have enough people to run this through anyway.

Winning, it was the only thing that many of the people below chased after. If they did, the thrill would be lost, their useless errands of tossing their money away was all for naught. The loud lever pulls at the slots and the consistent clanks of table chips crashed over the casino like a wave. The crowds of people rushing into the finest casino on Nar Shadaa waited in lines to get into the clubs at the east end. Once they did, they would be greeted by strobe lights, music, and exotic dancers trapped in cages above. The place had it all for the heavy risk takers and go getters. The bright vibrant colors that swam along the casino floor created a mystic haze over The Black Adder. It was truly, a beautiful place.
Besides its beauty and money making entertainment, The Black Adder had something much more of value to those hidden away inside its walls. It was a organization that fueled the creation of its walls, The Sith Assassins. The entire establishment was a hideout. More importantly, utilized in multiple ways to give other assassins a safe place to relax and finally enjoy the company of chosen few. Tonight the only assassin that resided inside the walls of the casino and bar was one lonely, Orion Darkstar. He leaned against the silver beam that stretched to the other end of the V.I.P. area. The chimes and rings of machines below were drowned out by the thick glass between him and below.
It was unusual for him to be dressed in a nice suit. The jacket was stitched professionally by a tailor from the planet of Coruscant. The silver and black theme that it bore fleshed out Orion's handsome features. His black hair was quaffed to the side, his cheekbones poking from the sides and his adoring viridescent eyes. The shiniest part of him were his black dress shoes. He looked clean, non-corrupt from the darkside besides his white compelling complexion. His eyes scanned below watching the tables closely. The high roller room was the closest to view, something he occasionally took joy in participating in. Orion observed for only a moment before turning away and planting himself a seat at the dark cushioned couch. Bright lights from the other glass lined walls pierced through to create a blue light hanging over him.
Orion leaned back with a simple sigh as he waited. The order he made minutes before seemed to be taking longer than usual and the only thing that left him to ponder, were the haunting visions in his sleep. The force had grown in him more and more everyday, gifting him visions beyond his own tormenting father. He couldn't quite put his finger on exactly who the man in his dreams were. He tilted his head back and closed his eyes, the images dancing about in his mind more clear. The silence that overtook him warped Orion back into the thick of it. An alter slowly came into view as the events began to play out. A light slumber taking effect.
Orion pushed the tree branch to the left as an alter formed out of a hazy smoke. A dark robed figure came into view as it knelt and spotted another two figures. One wore bright robes, the other a dark black. Each held something that Orion couldn't quite make out. The winds of the dark forest area whistled by him. Then, suddenly like an eraser wiped the event clean he stood on top of a cliff. The bright hue of green emitted from the person in front of him, nearby he spotted [member="Darth Ophidia"]. She seemed frozen, not with fear but inescapable circumstances. The green saber lifted to the air above him and just as the green tool went to strike Orion, the cliff gave way. A thundering crack splintered the cliff, rocks breaking away and falling into the thick seas below. Orion felt his foot slip, his body falling backwards and as he slipped below the view of the unknown jedi his arm stretched forward. He called on the force.
Before he could see the events unfold further, his name echoed into his mind. The calling for him snapped him back to reality. The vision broken as Orion opened his eyes to a young woman talking.
"Mr. Orion?" The young petite waiter held a tray and looked on with big innocent blue eyes. "Your food is ready sir. I didn't want it to get cold, the chef specifically called for all orders to be eaten hot for the best outcome of flavor." The waiter said, placing the silver lined dome in front of him on the table. "Bon appetite."
Orion watched as she turned away and disappeared. He couldn't remember her name, but she was loyal to Lykos in the past. He stared at the silver dome, curious to see what food awaited him. Still, the lingering feeling of him drowning almost made him sweat. The worst part was not knowing how it ended. He tapped on the table, a tiny compartment opening as he lifted a tiny holo transceiver. If the visions were going to impact another assassin it was his duty to warn them. He pressed the button and waited to record his message before the blink strands of his body and face were recognized.
"Darth Ophidia, I've...been having these weird visions. Nothing like I'm used to anyways. It involves you, I think you might be in danger. At the same time, I think we were hunting someone.." Orion lifted his arm as a drinking glass was tipped back as he took a drink. "We should meet as soon as possible. I fear..." The message was cut off, the recording timed out before he could finish. Orion grinned, if she got back to him he would worry about it later. He placed his thumb at the side and sent the warning. He looked down at the steel dome and lifted it. A steamed duck with raspberry sauce and vegetables were littered across the plate.
"Time to eat."

"What do you mean you're going away!?" Ricon said, her voice full of caution and, Kian noted, a bit of irritation. Jedi Master Eliza Ricon was one of the most talented of the Jedi Shadows that Kian had seen rise up in the Jedi Shadows. At present her focus of interest was the war with the One Sith and Kian understood her concern. "We are in a war!" Ricon said, finishing off Kian's thought.

"I understand that." Kian said shaking his head and leaning forward on the table. The three of them, Jedi Master Eliza Ricon, Jedi Knight Koras Qual, and Kian Karr were sitting in the conference room on the top floor of the Gnost Dural. Kian understood the concern in Ricon's voice. He felt concerned about the decision himself, but he had put this off long enough.

"I've been having these dreams for months," Kian said, "I've pushed aside a response because of the war....but I can not put it off any longer. Besides," Kian said, "We are at a lull in the fighting. I can hopefully be gone and back before any fresh hostilities begin."

"I agree." Qual said, his thick Selkath accent almost inaudible if Kian hadn't known the Jedi as long as he had. "The force is sending a message....we can not afford to ignore it."

Eliza Ricon looked at Kian's face for several minutes and then sat back with a sigh.

"Very well...." She said, resting his hands on his twin lightsaber hilts across her laps. "How soon will you leave?" She asked.

"My ship is being prepped now...."

"You are not going alone." Qual added and before Kian could object cut in. "Take two of the newer Knights with you."

"Mathis and Ripley are back from recon." Ricon put in. Kian considered objecting but the look on both of their faces told him they would not be moved on this point.

"Very well." Kian said and rose. "Get them prepped....we leave in 2 hours."

Darth Ophidia was about to enter her ship when she felt the whirr of her com unit, signalling a new message being hailed to her. Her nose wrinkled disapprovingly until she looked at it, and her eyes narrowed in suspicious apprehension.

"Darling, make sure the ship is fully fuelled this time." The droid seized in its carrying duties, looked at the Rattataki and put down his stack of foodstuffs. Akito jumped away from the pack, having almost been crushed underneath.

The Pale sat down in the pilot's chair of her Phasma to receive Orion's message.

"Darth Ophidia, I've... been having these weird visions. Nothing like I'm used to anyways."
"It involves you, I think you might be in danger. At the same time, I think we were hunting someone.."
"We should meet as soon as possible."
"I fear...-"
She stared at the closed hologram for a moment before her hand went to her brow and rubbed it gently. More visions? Another detour. As if Akito was not enough to handle, this... one. Orion, she had never trained him nor truly worked with him. He was a vestige of another time. Though, perhaps this was a result of her own machinations? The Force sometimes did bring her what she most sorely needed, even if she had not asked for it. Perhaps Orion was meant to be with her on this quest.

But what was it he feared? And why would he cut it off there? Simply to tickle her curiosity? He had Krest in him, that was certain. She leaned her fingers against her lips as an exhale escaped her nose, her eyes closed and brow furrowed in thought.

Yes, it would have to be so.

She prepared for a holo-recording to be made and transmitted back. Habitually, she pulled her hood forward to cover more of her face, so only the luminescent orange of her eyes peered out from monotony of the shadowcast and ashen face.

"Darkstar. On Ambria there is an obelisk. 2185 - 4990 - 4621." She leaned in slightly for emphasis. "Do not waste my time."

She ended the recording, and let it be encrypted and sent as she leaned back in her chair.

"Akito Koushou!"

The nezumi acolyte came running, near panicked, at her master's beckon. Hoping that what she had pieced together from her visions under the Pale's tutelage would bear fruit, and that her extrapolations to the maps would be sufficient. The master was terrible when angered, and Akito was such a small mouse.

Sight had long since been lost to the Zabrak, but that did not make him blind, for while he could no longer perceive the physical he now stared directly into the Force. The twisting strands of the Force had settled before his gaze, presenting extra depth to the world around him, strands of the past, present and nebulous futures stretching out into a vast tapestry. One that showed a story told and to be told in equal measure. With the lose of his sight had come the lose of his need to listen to the guidance of the Force, instead, he now saw what whispers it might choose to impose upon him, the choices he could make to determine his tale woven into the Force itself for him to pry and pluck at. And, in the end, it was this change in fate that had lead him to Ambria.

When he had seen visions dancing before him, a new story bubbling forth from the mess of competing possibilities, he had been intrigued by its strength. So strong was it that he had been able to see the other possibilities of the future cower away from its presence, dissolving into nothingness as this one thread became True. A vision imposing so much sway upon the course of fate was something he had not seen before and, upon drawing his mind's eye closer to it, he had been intrigued by the stories of his own fate. Drowning within water so cold it burnt, the feeling of flesh tearing from skin, a pain ravishing his form and of two figures - one cloaked in black, the other white, both mumbling words he could not understand and clasping an item he could not clearly see.

The allure of such a future was too much for him to resist, and, as such, he chosen to bow to those whispers, to let them guide him and cast his fate into the sea of the Force once more. Pushed and prodded by the ether itself, he found himself stood upon Ambria knowing not who he waited for or even what it was he was doing there. Of course, he did not care, for whatever happened would happen and nothing would come of it until it did. Until then? He was content to wait.

And so, he found himself sat only a short distance from a towering monolith, contently sat cross-legged, slowly sipping at a cup of tea as he patiently waited, luxuriating in the spicy scent.

Sorry for the late reply and small post. I have a mock exam on Wednesday and that's currently holding the majority of my focus.

The sweet succulent glazed duck was all but gone, its delicious flavor slipping to the back of his throat. Pleased by the efforts of the chef, Orion leaned back with a comforting groan. He didn't have a meal so well put together in a while. He reached for his glass, the opening maw dancing with cubes of ice. The clear liquid swirled around, the delicate glass swaying back and forth as his wrist gyrated. The smell of fruit tickled his nostrils as he brought it closer. Slowly, Orion tipped the glass forward, the clear fruity drink smacking his taste buds into submission. The flavors of pineapple, kiwi, orange and berries exploding upon contact. The overbearing amount of sugar forced him to frantically set the glass down as he spit forward.
I said a Forbidden Jungle, Not a Forbidden Drink...
He looked down at his suit pants, thankfully he didn't get anything on him. Standing from the comfortable couch, Orion walked to the clear glass window and looked out to the casino, below. The continued greed of others fluently in motion. It was truly a sight to behold ever time he watched. As he went to lean onto the steel pole from before a vibrating gadget, shook the center table behind him. Rushing to it, he tapped onto the holo-transciever and listened.
"Darkstar. On Ambria there is an obelisk. 2185 - 4990 - 4621."
Orion heard the words of [member="Darth Ophidia"], careful to find his pen. A small notebook was gripped from his inner front chest pocket. The smooth silk gracing his fingers as he did. Opening it and holding it open on the glass table, he reached into his pants pocket. A pen emerged as he jotted down the coordinates, the planet name Ambria staring back at him. It seemed after being in the dark for a small while, he was still an asset to others. Just before the message ended, his initial thought became tainted.
"Do not waste my time."
Darth Ophidia wouldn't be pleased if what he presented was irrelevant, but warning her of impending outcomes, could save her life. If such things weren't time worthy, Orion didn't know what would be. He grabbed his things and stood upright, straightening his suit jacket, he made for the exit. As he entered the elevator, he placed a small electronic device up to his mouth and gave the order.
"Darkstar here. Get the Stigma I fueled up. We're heading to Ambria."
As the doors to the elevator closed, Orion looked at himself. The sharp image of a facade greeted him.
I'll have to change..

Kian's lightsaber ignited, the green blade casting an ominous glow over the dark room. Kian had been hiding in the shadows, his dark robes and his force abilities keeping him concealed. At first, when the blade ignited, the patrons believed the saber to be floating in mid air, held up by some unseen force. It was not until Kian dropped the force stealth techniques and stepped forward that all eyes shifted from his lightsaber to the Kel Dor.

"I'm sorry to interrupt." Kian said his head swiveling to take in the six armed men before him. "But I'm afraid those two are with me." Kian finished his eyes falling on Jedi Knight Mathis and her apprentice Ripley sitting behind the men, their hands bound and their lightsabers sitting in front of them on the dirty table.

"And I really must insist you return them to me." Kian said, swaying his lightsaber in front of him to emphasize the point.

"Boss." One of the men said lifting his blaster rifle slightly but stopping it when Kian turned to face him.

"Hold." The oldest man said holding up a hand to indicate to his people not to try anything. "They were sticking their noses where they don't belong.....just like you are now." The man said grinning. "Tell me why I shouldn't have my men kill all of you?"

"You could....try." Kian said, putting as much menace in his voice as possible. "But do you really want that sort of mess. Even if you were to succeed in killing us, you would then have to explain the sudden disappearance of three Jedi who made it known they were coming to see you." Kian said lying. "And that is a big 'if'." Kian said lowering his lightsaber into a low guard, the man's guards shifting uncomfortably at the motion of the Jedi.

For a time the man seemed to consider his options, weighing Kian's words and tapping his fingers against his side as he did. Finally, he waved his hand as if to indicate to his soldiers to lower their weapons.

"Get them out of here." The man said and Kian bowed, indicating that the two Jedi should follow. They left first, Kian following behind them, still facing the group with his lightsaber ignited.

"Thank you." Kian said and closed the door behind him. Just to be safe, Kian thrust his blade into the wall panel sealing the door closed and quickly turned to cut the restraints on Mathis and Ripley. "Did you get it?" Kian asked as they left the room, both Jedi returning their lightsabers to their belts as Kian shut his down as well.

"Yes." Both Jedi replied and smiling broadly.

~ ~ ~
"What do you think?" Kian asked to the holo before him. Jedi Pra'ct, one of the best researchers Kian had known in his years as a Jedi, stood before the three Jedi in a translucent blue. Kian had no idea where Pra'ct was at this moment. He traveled extensively on his archaeological work. He squinted his Verpine eyes and pondered the question for a moment.

"Well," He began, looking over the datachip Kian, Mathis, and Ripley had recovered from the spacestation. "Cross-tabulating the glyphs and images you mentioned in your dreams, along with these ancient texts...."

"I believe the planet you are seeking is somewhere in this region of Wild Space." Pra'ct said indicating a location on the map before them. "The writing you recreated for me is very similar to artwork that was recovered from this region of space."

Kian had been working with the Jedi Researcher, recreating his dreams painstakingly to allow the Verpine Jedi to research as much as possible on the potential location and it looked as if it had paid off.

"It's a big area to search." Mathis said.

"Yes....but it is a start." Kian said smiling at the map.

The Ambria Obelisk was an immense structure. Its sheer sides formed a square spike, pointing accusingly at the sky and casting a long shadow over the dry landscape surrounding it. Darth Ophidia's ship had landed some way away and remained concealed by a crag, while she and Akito had made their approach on speeder bike. They rested in the shade of the Obelisk and awaited reunion with their companion in the mission.

Akito was fervently working on a cylindrical disk on the seat of the speederbike. She held a tool the size of the nezumi herself and kept muttering in an unintelligible language of high pitch sounds. She picked up a jagged piece and pushed it into the disk in a few different ways before grabbing the tool again and pried it in, then pushed it into place with her own, sparse body weight.
Meanwhile, Ophidia sat with her back to the obelisk. Her legs were crossed under her and her hands lain cupped in the dark grey fabrics of her lap. Her breath was steady and her eyes half-closed, peering out into nothingness. She sensed the arrid sand, its salt and sour flavour. She sensed the creatures scurrying in the sand and the viper burrowing under it in waiting. Her senses stretched further, like innumerable sensory tentacles reaching out for presences big and small.

No one came here any more lest they were looking for something in the shadow of the Sith obelisk.

With silent triumph, Akito Koushou closed the disk and raised it over her head. It was heavy to her, but light to most. Her face split in a grin as she looked at her master, half expecting attention, and then not getting any. She jumped down and carried the disk with er over towards the Pale.

"Master, I finished it. I have the map- Well, as good a one as any can make from visions, I guess."

She still looked pleased, but the pleased expression turned to irritation, then worry. She sat down and stared at the dead still Rattataki. Minutes passed. Darth Ophidia felt something, someone near, waiting, drinking tea. Delectable tea. And she reached out to him, [member="Darth Lykos"]

'Come, speak.'

Akito's attention was trailing away when Ophidia finally looked down at her, the ember eyes staring into her soul

"Finished?"

Akito actually jumped behind her map in surprise, breath growing rapid for a second.

"Yes master. It is done." "The region is not well mapped, but I got the best ones available. I-"

Eagerly, the Nezumi turned a ring placed in the disk until it clicked, then pressed down on the transparent marble in its middle. A hologram map emerged from the marble, showing a trail leading deep into the regions of Wild Space, and a small yellow blip in the corner showing from which direction they would arrive. She was quite proud of herself, really. Ophidia's face remained stoic, but inside she was impressed at what the acolyte had built in such a short time.

"Good. It will serve, apprentice. Now, sit. Meditate. Our guests are arriving" "Guest-s?"

Ophidia only gave a small, wry smile.

Kian was running again...his legs burning, his lungs screaming, his heart pounding. They were right on his heels, whatever they were. That same branch slapped across his face, cutting him just next to his anti-ox mask once again. He could feel them in the force....their evil intent. Feel them closing in on him. Just as he was certain he'd be caught

....Kian was no longer running but was standing still again. The alter was before him, covered in blood. He could hear screeching in the background but it did not sound human.

Then he was outside, standing in a brilliant green field, the sun warm on his skin. "Wake up." A feminine voice called and Kian turned to see her standing there. "WAKE UP!" She said louder and just as the light dimmed to reveal her face....Kian did just

"Wake up!" Kian's eyes shot open and as the blurriness of sleep faded he saw the face of Ripley, the young female Bothan padawan of Mathis. She was standing over him and as Kian sat up he realized an alarm was blaring.

"What is it?" Kian said, his fatigue fading as he pulled himself to his feet.

"We're going down." Ripley said and Kian could feel the fear in her voice. "We think we found it, but there is something wrong with the ship."

Kian considered the padawan's words as he pushed his way past and out the door toward the cockpit. "Be calm young one." Kian reassured her as he walked on. "We will be fine."

"Yes Master." She said, though Kian noted a lack of confidence in her response. When Kian came into the cockpit he found Mathis, the older human female, working frantically at the controls. Unlike Ripley, Kian did not sense fear but rather a grim determination. Slipping into the co-pilot seat, Kian looked out the viewport at the rapidly approaching planet and his breath caught in his mask. It was certainly the place.....the planet from his dreams.

"We are here." Kian said, his voice coming out in nothing more than a whisper.

"Won't do us much good if we die in the crash." Mathis said grimly, her thick imperial accent steady.

"We won't." Kian said working over the controls. Mathis would fly, as Kian was an adequate pilot at best. Scanners were functioning though and he began a scan of the area below. "If we adjust to these coordinates," Kian said glancing at the read out, "We can get through the atmosphere mostly unscathed and put down......here." Kian said indicated a clearing along the edge of a heavily forested area.

"Strap in!" Mathis said over her shoulder and Ripley quickly dropped into a seat and strapped herself in. "This will be a rough landing....this thing is flying like a brick."

"What happened?" Kian asked as he braced himself and the ship rocked violently as it cut through the atmosphere.

"I'm not sure." Mathis said, her eyes narrowed with concentration. "We were fine one minute and then everything went to hell in the next."

Kian considered her words, a sinking feeling forming in the pit of his stomach as they broke through cloud cover and he saw the ground coming toward them.....really fast....
