Qu'orx often favors a Z-6 Rotary Blaster Cannon as his weapon of choice and carries a backpack full of ammunition so he is never without ammo.
BIOGRAPHY:
Qu'orx's life began in less than favorable circumstances on the planet of Cerea. A product of forced breeding, Qu'orx was just another being in a long line of protectors for the Cerean Mo-di San, an art collector.
San's bloodline was nobility in some of its highest form. With nobility comes enemies, and with enemies comes the inevitable fear for one's life. Rather than relying on the service of Wookiees (both expensive and rife with controversy due to their "extensive" history of slavery in the past), the San family turned to Gigorans, who can often go toe-to-toe with Wookiees themselves.
Under Mo-di San, the Gigorans were taught that their value only came from their strength and intimidation. They were not given the ability to think for themselves, let alone practice self-expression, love, and community - all crucial aspects of a normal Gigoran society. Instead, the "families" were separated upon the birth of a child. No Gigoran shared housing with another. All Gigorans had their own cell to retire to when they were not needed.
The key to the Cerean's control of the Gigoran's was the device crucial to Gigoran communication - the vocoder. Modified to act as an electro-shock collar, all members of the San family had a control which could be used to send violent shocks to any Gigoran wearing the collar. The shocks could range from a small zap to a excruciating death. This system of control came close to perfection and eventually turned into an entire operation that extended beyond just personal protection for the San family. Instead of dealing in art, Mo-di would begin dealing in Gigoran slave trade.
The Gigorans under San's rule were divided into Brawlers and Blasters. Although Qu'orx was larger in size than other Gigorans his age and thus would be a perfect fit for a Brawler, he showed a knack for blasters and explosives. San viewed Qu'orx as the epitome of a Brawler Gigoran and any deviation from that path would mean a flaw in the system. Flaws would need to be removed, whether through extermination or reconditioning. The most common solution was the former, although due to the time and dedication spent in creating Qu'orx, Mo-di resolved to recondition him.
All that "reconditioning" meant was significant, consistent electricity being sent through the Gigoran's body as they are strapped down. There is no real direction or aversion therapy, just pure, sadistic agony until Qu'orx passed out. This would continue for weeks, ultimately stripping a large portion of Qu'orx's ability to communicate, and instilling in him a terrifying fear of electricity.
Isolating the Gigorans was another control tactic employed by Mo-di to further diminish the Gigoran's morale. The most sacred part of a Gigoran's natural life is their family and community. To deprive them of this is to strip them of their identity. But, what Mo-di didn't anticipate was that the strength of a familial bond would ultimately outweigh any pain from electro-shocks.
It was early in the morning, prior to First Meal, one of the only times the Gigorans are together, when the uprising occurred. It is not clear what exactly set it off, but it is certainly clear who started it: Qu'orx. The screams of a Cerean having his arm ripped off acted as a revolutionary horn. The Gigorans looked over to see Qu'orx, spattered in blood, triumphantly holding a severed arm above his head, yelling out. Without hesitation, the crowd rose to their feet and fought their masters.
The revolt in the lunch room was over just as fast as it began due to the sheer number of Gigorans outnumbering the Cerean guards. Soon, the remaining rooms and halls would be overflowing with the beasts. The veracity and swiftness of the uprising caught any guard by surprise, preventing them from turning the vocoders into shock mode.
Ultimately, the insurrection led to the armory, where the makeshift army armed themselves with whatever they could find, determined to escape and prevail in any firefight along the way.
It was in the hangar bay when Mo-di San appeared, finally, with his own battalion of indoctrinated Gigorans. He thought himself as victor as he raised his control to Qu'orx's collar in the air.
"No further there, beast. Lower your weapon and I assure you, the death will be quick," Mo-di commanded with a smile.
Qu'orx did not move. He just held up his rotary cannon, fixated on Mo-di.
"Fine. Just another failure to follow command, even to the last breath," Mo-di said as he pressed onto the control.
The shock started in Qu'orx's neck and quickly spread to the rest of his body. It doubled him over almost instantaneously. The rotary cannon fell to his side.
The Gigorans who stood with Qu'orx in battle began to roar in support of him - ushering him to rise up. It was then that Mo-di ordered his bodyguards to unleash upon the usurpers with a wave of his hand. Blaster bolts started flying from both directions - a war had engulfed the hangar bay.
Amidst the chaos, Mo-di walked over to Qu'orx. He stood over the dying Gigoran and said, "Thank you for showing me the errors in my methods. The next batch will have to be monitored much closer."
Still reeling in pain, Qu'orx managed to force his arm out in Mo-di's direction, getting a hold of his leg. The sound of the war around him was muffled. The only true sound he had in his ears was a deafening high-pitched ring. It did not stop him. Qu'orx pulled Mo'di's leg forward, throwing him on his back. He pulled the Cerean forward and forced himself to stand up. In his haze, he could see the terror in the eyes of his master , raising his hands up to stop him.
It was his foot that did the crushing blow to Mo-di's skull. Repeated stomps until he saw the control device fall out of Mo-di's hand. The aim of the stomps changed from his master's head to the device until it, too, was crushed. With the destruction of the device, the electricity stopped flowing through Qu'orx's body. This too released the grip on the indoctrinated Gigorans serving Mo-di. The fighting in the hangar bay ceased. The Gigorans were finally free.
Although the majority of the Gigorans would move on to a new home to live out as a community, Qu'orx opted to stick it out on his own further. While a sense of family and community was important to him, so too was his desire to go out and see what lies beyond the planet he grew up on. He had the skills to become a mercenary, which led him to find the Guild. He joined in as a Ronin, eager to see where the rank and money would bring him.
SHIP:
