Wayward Padawan
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
R2-4U has a complicated history. Originally programmed as a repair and engineering droid, the droid was taken by Mandalorian raiders during a strike at the Kuat shipyards many cycles ago. There, he was handed about, used as a mere servant droid to repair ships that his owners were not smart enough to work out themselves. As such, he has developed a rather colorful language, remarking that Clan Vizsla and Ordo in particular are the ones who helped him develop his vocabulary. The droid was however taken from his masters by a traitor in their ranks, sold off on an auction market, and was used by various members of the Black Suns as a droid to keep track of their spice running routes. Due to circumstances beyond his understanding, his owners never memory wiped him, and he retains many of the routes that the Black Sun used to smuggle their drugs, as well as planets they found as ‘good’ for storing their items; it was here he was outfitted with his grenade launcher.
It was when he was onboard a Black Sun spice freighter that he was saved from their service, as Galactic Alliance authorities seized the ship, and nearly stripped the droid for it’s memory core, until a jedi stepped in to claim him. R2 worked with his jedi companion for many years, a knight know as Kavar Scipora, who would go on to discover the Mandalorian known as Kadan Ordo shortly after the purge of Mandalore. The duo worked well together, with R2 using his information on the underworld to help Kavar find and destroy criminal elements on the world, but eventually, their times came to an end. Mistakenly believing his past data to be correct, R2 pointed Kavar to what he believed was a still active Black Sun hide out, but as it turned out, it was a trap. The hide out was rigged to explode, and Kavar perished in the resulting destruction, leaving a saddened R2 without a master once more; finding only Kavar’s lightsaber in the wreckage. Broadcasting the coordinates of his fallen friend for the sake of the order, the droid took the ship, and left on his own, trying to find a place he could remain on his own. It was how he ended up on Brentaal IV, acting in place of a repair droid, and fixing the ships of travelers he takes pity on for free; much to the confusion of the dock authorities.
