SPECIAL FEATURES
- Force enchanted crystals.
- Stationary.
- Has a deflector shield for protection. Moreover, the weapon can cover the entrance.
- Features a control switch to shut down as needed - a rod attuned to a controller.
- The Obelisk has two settings: one for automatic and one for manual firing. Automatic has the following conditions: Fires on proximity detection if the following conditions are met:
- Target in range and arc.
- Target displays a dark aura
- Target does not have an 'ambassador token'
- Prioritise targets of stronger dark auras.
- The pillar can detect the presence of darksiders and other beings tainted by the dark side and unleash a powerful beam of light side energy to burn or blind them. The pillar will fire the beam in the general direction of its target. When several foes are present in multiple places, smaller beams will be directed towards them, though it can also harness its energies for a single, concentrated beam.
- Mental effects. The obelisk radiates a potent aura of the light that empowers the faithful. It suppresses pain and strengthen resolve in loyal soldiers of Ashla; make them far more likely to fight to the bitter end in defence of the Light. By contrast, it can significantly heighten the feeling of pain of enemy soldiers and make it more difficult to draw upon the dark side. The effects are dependent on proximity.
- As these are Force attacks they are not affected by shields, armour or other mundane defences.
- Running out of ammunition is not a concern per se.
- The materials used and the alchemisation process make an obelisk very sturdy and resilient, even against lightsabres and heavy weapons. Enough firepower will destroy it, but it can take quite a bit.
- While the aura projected by the Pillar suppresses an ally's sense of pain...that doesn't mean the injury doesn't exist. Suicidal overconfidence can be a result, and a maimed limb is still a maimed limb. Moreover, once the 'high' has passed soldiers who used this effect to power through will experience a hard crash. In the worst case...they may not make it. But they will have assuredly achieved oneness with the Force.
- Once it has been set up, it cannot be moved. It is also impossible to miniaturise it for personal use.
- Ysalamir, and void stone either weaken or neutralise the effects of the holy pillar.
- Similarly, damaging or destroying the crystals will also mitigate the Pillar's power or render it inert. They are very heavily fortified though.
- The harmful mental effects are, as the phrasing implies, in the mind of the enemy soldier. As a result, they can be mitigated by a competent enemy mentalist who is able to shield their allies.
- Theoretically ammunition is virtually unlimited, but the device has a long cooldown period for its beam and must recharge after every 'shot'. Its rate of fire is single action.
- Mental effects do not benefit or harm droids (excluding Shards and the like) or Force-Dead. The same applies to the beam.
- Detectable. The light side presence can be felt from afar. Supernatural detection aside, the pillar is also very big and thus can be seen from a distance, though physical sight alone does not necessarily reveal what it actually does.
For centuries, the Windian Jedi Order has stood alone against the Great Darkness on Tephrike. It is the first line of defence against the forces of evil, the slaves of Bogan Prodosia, the betrayer, and Bogan Phobos, the causer of fear. Armed with fire and steel, they are a dam against the flood of injustice and heresy. But sometimes that is not enough. So they have harnessed the blessed sorcery of Ashla Niketas to construct a powerful weapon that will smite the servants of evil and invigorate the noble soldiers and knights of Ashla Soteria and Ashla Niketas.
The The Radiant Obelisk of Ashla's Divine and Eternal Judgement is the result of the labours of the finest alchemists and artificers of the Congregation of the Hallowed Way to Knowledge and the Jedi researchers of the Congregation of the Forgotten Knowledge of Ashla. The blessed device stands tall and proud, reaching high into the air, for those of the light should not hide in the shadows. Even from afar its potent light side aura can be felt. Made of alchemised stone and reinforced duracrete, it is endowed with blessed runes powered by enchanted crystals that have been blessed by Jedi sages in pain-staking rituals. The soldiers of Ashla who stand within the radius of its aura are empowered and invigorated. It suppresses pain and strengthen resolve in loyal soldiers of Ashla; make them far more likely to fight to the bitter end in defence of the Light.
The Obelisk can detect the cursed presence of darksiders within a certain radius. Not only will they be weakened by its aura, it can project a beam of light to burn or blind them, though the beam takes a while to power up and has a recharge period after each 'shot'. Due to the immense complexity involved in building an Obelisk, it cannot be deployed everywhere. Rather it is designed to heavily fortify specific positions against Sith and other servants of evil. Though the glorious Dominion has, in its unerring wisdom, abolished selfish capitalism to create an economis system that serves the needs of the people and does away with destructive class strife and greed, its resources are far from limitless.
It has been observed that the Obelisk occasionally strikes Jedi. These are false Jedi who have secretly or even unknowingly succumbed to the sinister temptations of the dark side. In their wisdom, the Harmonious and Compassionate Inquisitors of the Public Wellbeing for Defence Against the Depredations of the Dark Side and all its Manifold Evils sometimes make use of the Obelisk as a trial by ordeal for an accused Jedi to stand before it.
The struggle is arduous and the sacrifices are great. But one day it will be the darkness will be smote forever. The triumphant faithful will rise from their bunkers, their trenches and factories and all partake in the glory of Ashla, in a world without toil or suffering. Until then the Obelisk will be a vigilant guardian.
