  • Demographics: The Academy has a rough population of five thousand to ten thousand individuals on the premise at any given time. The vast majority of these individuals are Naval Academy students, with a smaller percentage being dedicated to base security personnel and other staff. The smallest percentage of the Academies population is made up of the Diarchy Naval Command, the highest ranking naval officers in the Diarchy fleet. This last group varies the most, as officers are often at the base for only a short time before being deployed again. The vast majority of the population are human or near human, with less than ten percent belonging to alien species.
  • Accessibility: The Academy is located in a mountain basin region, surrounded on all sides by open fields and distant mountain ranges. Several landing pads are scattered around the outskirts of the main compound, each one with a path leading to the main entrance with landing pads for higher ranked officers located inside the compound proper. It is entirely possible for outsiders to approach the Academy on foot or in personal craft, though they will be marked by detection devices location around the complex. Entering into the base itself is limited to only authorized personnel verified by biological screening and identification codes. Defensive positions along the walls and outskirts of the Academy act as a deterrent for any unauthorized vehicles or starships attempting to enter the compound.
  • Description: The Rae Sloane Imperial Naval Academy is a massive complex with a diameter of five kilometers, and extensive external compounds and outposts. Walls surround the entire complex, with several defensive towers dotted along the wall to act as a primary line of security and defense. Several barracks buildings are located in the lower levels of the facility, with the most junior academy students being housed in rooms half a kilometer beneath the surface of Bastion. On the surface, several landing pads are located at the center of the complex, with training facilities, mess halls, armories and other relevant buildings set along the sides of the interior. The most striking part of the Academy is the central spires, each one housing different elements of the Academies most relevant functions.

  • Naval Bastion: Located in the central and largest spire of the Academy, the Naval Bastion serves as the command and control point for the vast majority of the Diarchy Naval assets and personnel. Each Admiral maintains an office in the spire, and several meeting halls are ready around the clock for officers use. Near the base of the spire is the Admirals Assembly, a large amphitheater where all the Diarchy's highest ranking officers can be addressed in person at once. At the top of this spire are two massive chambers, one for a member of the Diarchy brothers to use if they are at the Academy, and the other for the Academies Commandant. Both of these upper chambers have personal living quarters attached to them. A level below these chambers is the Grand Admirals command office.
  • Flight Control: Located in the western spire, Flight Control is filled to the brim with simulator facilities of every kind. Starfighter pilots can utilize near totally authentic cockpit simulators in dozens of different simulated environments, while students destined to serve aboard Diarchy capital ships can use simulator rooms capable of replicating the command bridge, engine room or any other facility aboard most contemporary ships. At the top of the spire is an actual flight control station where officers direct air traffic around Academy air space.
  • Joint Operations Center: Located in the eastern spire, the Joint Operations Center acts as a meeting point for the various branches of the Diarchy's military when combined arms operations must be undertaken. Compartmentalized offices capable of being altered at a moments notice dot the spire, capable of being joined together or separated depending on the number and rank of officers present.
  • Landing Pads: Two dozen landing pads are spread out around the Academy, each one capable of holding three small freighter sized craft, or during end of year exams, dozens of starfighters for pilot students. Each one has its own small security booth manned by Academy security personnel, and a steel pathway leading to the main entrance of the Academy. Inside the Academy itself, four similarly sized landing pads are available for higher ranking officers within the Diarchy Military.
  • Armory: Located along the eastern side of the Academy central complex, the armory is a three story structure capable of equipping two thousand security personnel with arms and armor, or equipping a quarter of the Academies student population with equipment should the need arise. Guarded at all times by Diarchy Stormtrooper marines, only security personnel and officers are able to enter unattended. All students requisitioning equipment or weaponry for training exercises must be accompanied by security personnel.
  • Mess Hall - SupCom: The Mess Hall, referred to by some students as SupCom is the largest structure beyond the spires at the Academy. A sprawling building, the Mess Hall has enough seating to feed three thousand students at any time, with adjoining rooms to the main hall for officers or senior students.
  • Dormitories - The Deeps: Located below the surface of the Academy, the dormitories housing the student population are laid out in a almost confusing, maze like configuration. The lowest level houses the newest students at the Academy, with each level ascending for subsequent years with students preparing to graduate being located just below surface level. Each level of The Deeps as students call it has recreational facilities and private room available to students for study upon request.
  • Starfighter Training Center: The Starfighter Training Center is located several kilometers away from the main Academy, set into the side of a mountain. A disk shaped structure jutting out from the side of the mountain, glasteel windows set into a semi circle overlook the twisting and turning valleys and passes of the largest mountain range in the region. Here, students and instructors can observe live flight training under the extreme circumstances pilots might face, and the Requiem Run is the graduating test for all starfighter pilots.
  • Dark Sanctum: Set behind the main spires of the complex, the Dark Sanctum serves as the housing facility for any Diarchy Sith that are located at the Academy. Whether temporarily at the location waiting to requisition a ship and crew, or training their own flying skills. The Sanctum maintains a dueling arena, meditation chamber and workshop for use by Diarchy Sith.

  • Durasteel walls surround the exterior of the main Academy complex. Several meters thick, it is able to withstand heavy land based bombardment. Set within the wall at regular intervals are shield generators, capable of creating an overlapping defense field for the Academy. Several turbolaser towers, placed in the environment around the Academy, serve as deterrence from orbital and airborne threats. Watchtowers placed at intervals along the wall provide clear fields of observation preventing any covert approach across the empty landscape.
  • Only a single land entrance is available for the Academy, fortified and capable of being ray shielded, and guarded at all times by a platoon of security personnel as well as a squad of Diarchy Stormtroopers.
  • Approximately five hundred security personnel act as a permanent garrison for the Academy along with a single half company of Stormtroopers fifty strong.
  • One hundred starfighters of various configuration are housed in underground hangars, primarily used for flight training outside of simulators. When necessary, however, they can be deployed as fully functional fighter craft crewed by Academy senior students and flight instructors.

• Bastion is no stranger to Imperial existence. For centuries the world has served as the backbone of dozens of various Imperial or Imperial like states, it is a world for which discipline, martial prowess and a dedication to excellence are common hallmarks of its citizenry. With the Diarchy coming to assert its control over the world, the need for a proper military education for the nations future naval officers was determined a high priority by Darth Reign and his inner circle. Selecting instructors from the various starships under their command as well as retired Imperial officers, the Diarchy laid the groundworks for the future generation of officers that would lead their mighty navy across the stars.
