STRENGTHS
Warrior Priestess - Born and raised in Kr’ylland, a city nestled deep in Maena’s Obsidian Deserts, Rael is no stranger to weaponry. A city under threat from outside groups warring over the Stone at its center, one had to know how to defend themselves. But Rael was given blades, axes, maces, bows...at the tender age of 5 and up. Her Father, a devout Dark Templar, would have every member of his family able to defend the Stone from those who came to claim it as their own. Now, as a High Priestess of Xoth- Za decades later, Rael believes she finds connection to her God through righteous combat - and therefore seeks to excel.
Herald of Xoth-Za - Like all Heralds, Rael has control over fire and can wield it as a weapon. Heralds believe their chief deity - Xoth-za - was an ancient practitioner of the Force, in a time before Jedi and Sith. To them, the Force is a Flame, and as such they learn to master it in the most literal sense.

WEAKNESSES
Zealot - Rael may be one of the most devout Heralds among the current generation. As such, she adheres strictly to every tenant - even those that put her at a disadvantage. Therefore, Rael uses almost no High Technology of any kind, believing the only things worthy of use are those touched by Xoth-Za. Therefore she uses no suits of armor, no lightsabers, no blasters, or other convenient gadgets. She does not know how to fly. Her zealotry leads her to abstain from technology more than most of her fellow Heralds, to the point that she will only use communications devices. She must rely on others for assistance in those instances where technology is simply required.
Maenan - Though the planet breeds tough individuals, this resilience is unmatched and classified as...disturbing to those outside its violent orbit. Thus, when traveling to spread the Voice of the Flame, a Maenan often finds themselves at odds with the laws of the galaxy at large.

APPEARANCE
Rael would be considered refined among her own people, a fine face surrounded by darkening head-tresses - sometimes left wild, and other times pulled together with a single band in one heavy tail. However, refined has become something closer to severe on a woman as hard as her homeworld and militant as her religion. Of average height for her species, she is heavy with muscle and moves with a warrior’s grace. Scars and burns criss-cross her purple skin, evidence of battle and proximity to the flames of her God. Most often she is clothed in red and black - chainmail, leathers, padding, a good pair of boots.

BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in Kr’ylland, Maena’s mysterious walled city in the heart of the Obsidian Desert, Rael was the third of four. Both of her parents were deeply involved in the inner workings of the Dark Templars, Maena’s second most influential cult-religion - second only to the Heralds. But it was her Father that impressed the faith on his children, and each of them was conscripted in to the Templar’s guardian forces.

She was only 10 when the Heralds came.

It was their most recent Crusade, another attempt to wrest control of the area surrounding the Stone. Kr’ylland is notorious for its impossible nature - no one group has been able to take control of the Stone from the people of its city, but they will keep trying. The Heralds got as close as they might ever have. Rael could attest to that.

She can remember the walls of fire, corruscating flames pouring from red-clad men and women. She can remember the unbearable heat, the screams of those who got in the way or remained trapped inside buildings set aflame, how she couldn’t even see the night sky for the brightness of the city burning. And above all, the purpose in those Herald’s faces as they shaped something terrible and all-consuming together.

She might have converted on her own, but it was her Father who had a change of heart - who had seen the Flames as it were. And he and Rael were the only ones left. Her Mother and three siblings had been inside the Dark Temple when the Heralds had set it alight.

Much happened in the decades between then and now. Rael is not reluctant to speak on it, if one asks.

But she is now first among those Faithful who build Walls that turn unbelievers in to ash.
