- Field Disruption: The Ragnos' field disruption system allows the craft to slip under a large warship's shielding so that it may fire directly on the hull. While this feature is limited in practical application to large vessels with conventional and non-conformal shielding, it is nonetheless a powerful technique that a skilled pilot could take advantage of to potentially lethal effect.
- Powerful Armament: Equipped with a more powerful armament than the factory variant, the interceptor is capable of independently punching above its weight class, being deadly to a diverse array of targets, including heavy bombers and to a more limited extent, small corvettes.
- Night Terror: Unlike the factory variant, SV-2121's modified Ragnos possesses a comprehensive suite of stealth systems, stopping just short of the ability to cloak. These are further enhanced by the craft's electronic warfare package, allowing it to confuse targeting computers, sensors, scanners, and other enemy detection systems.
- Slow Healing: The incorporation of Laminanium into the hull of the Ragnos affords the craft self-repairing capabilities, though this specific process is not nearly fast enough to perform to any viable degree in combat.
- Sensitive Passive Sensors: The passive sensor array the hull of the Ragnos is an extreme boon to the pilot’s battlespace awareness, especially in conditions where the use of active sensors may reveal the craft’s location. However, They are also very vulnerable, as even glancing blows can destroy or disable the sensors on or even around the affected areas. In essence, as the hull takes more hits, its surface-integrated passive reception array will become increasingly ineffective.
- Shield Disruption: The field disruption module will automatically deactivate the interceptor's combat shields, leaving the craft more vulnerable to enemy fire while the system is active.
- Backfire: Absorptive types of shielding, such as Molecular or similar types of absorptive shielding, are capable of resisting the field disruption module by directly absorbing the “disruptive energy shields” projected by the field disruption module, preventing the craft from filtering through in the process. More aggressive types of reactive shields, such as Xythan Force shields, are able to absorb these “disruptive energy shields”, before violently discharging them back at the Ragnos with potentially deadly results, while also preventing penetration.
- Automation: As with any technology that is supported by a suite of automated processes, the disabling of these systems’ supporting computer brains, whether via EMP/Ion discharge, concentrated slicing, or in rare cases, jamming, will negatively affect the operating efficiency of the craft.
An extensive and personalized refit of the Ragnos-class Fighter/Interceptor, the model designated for the pilot SV-2121, was initially constructed in the starfighter assembly lines of Malsheem, before first seeing action over Generis. After Generis, the craft was held for repairs over an extended period, during which SV-2121 commissioned an exhaustive refit of her craft, seeking to improve its base specifications beyond stock, in order to give herself a potent and iconic interceptor to aid in her quest to slay Howlrunner and become a famous starfighter ace.
In upgrading the craft's armament, the wingtip-mounted laser cannons were replaced with disruptor cannons and the four flechétte missile launchers were replaced by a pair of energy torpedo launchers. From there, significant improvements were made to the craft's speed and maneuverability via a series of tuned optimizations to the engines, attitude thrusters, etheric rudders, and pressor projectors. Then, the triple-phase shielding suite was replaced with the Force Avenger, an energy shield model produced by First United Astral Engineering. While this did not improve the shield's capacity in relative terms, it did improve their versatility. Finally, a suite of stealth systems and anti-stealth sensors were added to the craft, allowing it to engage even the most rare and advanced fighters on relatively equal terms.
With the refit complete in time for Operation Shadowdance, SV-2121 intended to harness her newly-upgraded craft as a weapon to destroy the enemies of her Father's Empire...
