Raiders of the Lost Something (Pamnis/Invite)

Holden needed a theme song. With all the running he'd been doing since nabbing an old looking star map it reall did feel like he was the hero of his own holoflick. If anyone would have told his younger self he'd give up being a cop for archeology Holden would have laughed. Here was though running for his life because a client had hired him to track down a star map, the exact one he'd just stollen from some very not friendly looking types.

They had boasters... they always had blasters.

A sigh escaped the Corellian scavenger as he wondered why he'd chosen this line of work. It was followed by a since as one of the goons chasing him hand manger to shoot him in the shoulder. The smell of burning cloth and flesh was irritating, but even moreso was the fact they burned a hole into his favorite jacket. His steps faltered a bit as he turned out of the alleyway and into the crowded street walkway.

Coruscant was large enough a city that the former CorSec officer was confident that he could lose the thugs, but his chances of doing that without the crowds were slim. Holden pushed through several bodies searching for anything that resembled a hospital or a clinic while at the same time trying to blend into the crowd. Every time his injured shoulder came into contact with someone he winced.

Blue eyes saw the sign, it was an after hours clinic, and Holden was hoping they were not too busy, or at least with it enough to treat a blaster wound first. He was confident that triage would determine he was more of an emergency than anyone else coming into the medical facility. The door wooshed open as he approached it while holding his shoulder with his good hand. The star map was secure inside his jacket's inner pocket, but he was going to need a good place to hide it if things went south.

Holden knew it was a risk to enter a public facilty like he had, but the shot was in a location he couldn't treat. Hopefully the clothing took most of the damage and the shoulder was mostly okay, if a little singed. Walking right up to the counter he wasted no time.

"I've been shot," he said to the nurse who immediately took him back to one of the triage rooms to wait for the doctor. Holden was hoping he didn't have to wait long.

Coruscant hadn't been of her favorite places thus far. She was okay with cities, this however might have been a little too much. Nevertheless, the fact that she wasn't in love with the place did not mean she was any less happy of practicing her profession. Specially when the clinic that had hired her was, in contrast with the planet, one of the best she had been it. It was neither a very small clinic nor a towering hospital, with decent and even some new equipment and quite a nice bunch of coworkers, something she wasn't exactly expecting from the place which was the biggest metropolis in the galaxy.

She had been having a fairly easy going day, nothing out of the ordinary and with no sudden, unexpected changes. Pamnis usually preferred the most adrenaline-packed of the cases, as any doctor who liked challenging him or herself did but days like this were also a strange commodity that should be enjoyed. She had been chatting with one of the nurses who had some doubts about how to apply a treatment to a patient who had been hospitalized the day before. Just as she was almost over with her explanation, she heard her name called through the speakers. That meant a patient with some sort of urgency had arrived.

Bidding a very quick good-bye she moved fast and with purpose through the clinic. As she was reaching the triage rooms, the nurse that had first attended the patient indicated him in which of them he was. Pamnis stepped into the room and her eyes did not take long in starting to assess him. Seeing as how the man was holding one of his shoulders, it wasn't a hard guess saying he had gotten hurt. "Hello, I'm Doctor Hosk" she introduced herself calmly, though her attention was clearly placed on his shoulder. She took some steps towards him. "Would you mind taking a seat, please?" her voice was polite and calm as she pointed him to one of the empty gurneys. It'd be easier for her to work if his shoulder was nearer to the level of her hands.

Fortuneately Holden didn't have to wait long before someone was walking into the room to check out his shoulder. In the rush to explain everything to the nurse, the former CorSec officer had forgotten to sit down. There was something about pacing which kept his mind off the pain, and the more the burn was exposed to oxygen the more it hurt. Being a burn he knew it wasn't going to hurt less once it was treated, but hopefully the doctor had a pain killer on hand.

When she walked into the room and introduced herself, Holden nodded and sat as instructed. He was surprised at how young she looked. She was a few years younger than him at least, though he shouldn't have been surprised he supposed. A small sigh escapoed his lips as he was thankful the gurney would at least let him sit without putting the wound against something. Holden was still a bit torked that the shooter had wreaked his favorite coat. This was the second time someone had done that since leaving CorSec, and it always involved some kind of artifact.

"Thanks for being quick, Doc," he said as he looked her over. Holden was Corellian so there was no way his eyes weren't taking her features and assets into view. "The name is Holden, and you may want to let your nursing staff know that the thugs chasing me are still out there, and may figure out that I ducked in here to get patched up."

It was Coruscant. Every clinic had a plan to deal with the crime and thugs that could chase near anyone in right? Holden hoped so because there was no way he was giving up the map, or leaving in a body bag. The buyer was paying a good amount of credits for Holden to recover the map, and he was not going to disappoint.

"So how bad is it exactly?"

She could catch his slight surprise upon seeing her, it was something she wasn't all that unaccustomed with. After all, she had started her studies earlier and there were some who said she looked younger than she was, even if she disagreed. However she decided not to comment on that, seeing as how it wasn't really relevant to the situation at hand.

Pamnis nodded slightly, offering him a small smile once he introduced himself. "Pleasure to meet you, Holden" she said as she put on a pair of white gloves and walked around the gurney to have a better, close-up look of his wounded shoulder. It was clear that he had been shot at with a blaster and she couldn't help but arch an eyebrow, both in curiosity and concern. It all became slightly clearer when he proceeded to warn her about the people after him. "Okay...I'll let security staff now" she answered and walked for a moment to get a holopad. She seemed to type in a message and, replacing the gloves, got back to her work. "I hope you aren't in any serious trouble, right?" Pamnis asked, not as in an accusation but rather as to be assured. Street gun fights were not unheard of, but that didn't mean there might be another reason for his confrontation with those thugs.

"It's not too bad, luckily. The clothes protected your skin a bit." she answered. "Could you please remove the coat?" There was no way to apply treatment to the wound if it was covered, and even if the blaster fire had managed to mange it quite a bit, it didn't change the fact that it obstructed her access to the wound.

A pleasure to meet you... Holden wondered why doctors liked to use that phrase when treating a patient. It seems like every time he was hurt the person treating him stuck with the formal response when all Holden cared about was that he was in pain. However in this case the doctor was stunning so Holden replied, "The pleasure is all mine... especially since you're helping me." A familiar smirk tugged at his lip. Even in his pain Holden's Corellian personality came out, likely more than normal. The doctor was likely used to patients flirting though. It often kept the mind off the pain.

"I'm not in too much trouble if I can manage to lose these guys. Took a job to retrieve an antique star map for a vendor. What the guy didn't tell me was some gang had the map, and that they are trigger happy."

Hopefully that satisfied any concern the doctor had. Holden was more concerned that he was going to cause trouble for the clinic staff and the doctor. He was pretty sure he'd lost them in the crowd, but it was only a matter of time before they realized he had been hurt and started looking through hospitals. They'd check the first one closest to the location they thought they lost him. That was the clinic he was in.

Holden just nodded when she asked him to take off the jacket. He starred with the arm that didn't hurt. He winced when tugging on the sleeve caused the jacket to rub against the wound. Though he qucikly took the jacket off to have it over with, and before she could ask the t-shirt underneath came off also.

"Yeah trigger happy gangster ruined my favorite coat. I'm gonna have to get a new one. Know any good shops around here where I can do that?"

Pamnis couldn't help but snort slightly at his answer. Even if a doctor and capable of all the seriousness of one, she would always be quite a laid-back, friendly person at the end of the day and his flirtatious tone had just elicited her humor. He seemed to share a personality at least similar to hers in his way of communicating with others.

Once the wound was properly exposed to her she started working. The thing with blaster shots was that they burnt skin deeply, and burns had always been some of the most difficult wounds to treat because of their slow-healing, high-infection risk rate. She first took some pincers, she needed to remove the pieces of fabric that had become attached to the burnt skin, this was the only slightly painful part of the treatment in itself though she knew it must have been hurting pretty bad on its own already.

"So, an adrenaline lover aren't you?" she asked when he explained the predicament in which he was in, "Now you know, remember to ask who you'll be taking things from in the future" Pamnis added with a small, humored smile.

Once she was done retrieving the pieces of material, she proceeded to disinfect the wound and its surrounding area, before applying a bacta-derived ointment directly on the wound. To finish her work, she bandaged it lightly. "Burns need air to heal correctly, try to not keep it covered for long periods of time" she explained and walking back to the front of the office she opened a cupboard from where she produced a bottle of pills. "These will ease the pain, take them if it is bothering you but maximum dosage is one every eight hours. You'll take the ointment too, it'll help it heal quicker and prevent it from becoming infected." she handed both things to him and then walked over to the sink, grabbed a glass and filled it with some water so that he could take that first pill now.

His last comment made her chuckle again, "Sadly I'm not a local so I can't help you with that but I can ask if you really need another coat that urgently." she answered with an amused smile and an arched eyebrow.

"An adrenaline lover, you could say that I guess," he answered with a slight chuckle after the wincing he'd done with each pull of the fabric from his skin. It had been honestly painful and Holden was fighting back tears. It wasn't that he had a low pain tolerance, but it just hurt that much. While most men would try and be manly, Holden just fought it back. He had no problem admitting he was in pain. There was something about her advice that also brought a chuckle. The guy who hired him might not have known.

"Maybe... he might not have been able to help with that information."

Holden winced again as the final pieces of cloth were pulled off. There wasn't much to say in regards to the medication and the instructions on what to do. A nod of appreciation was given as she handed him the cup and the pill. He took it without any hesitation, because the man desperately needed the pain relief. He was going to be on the run until he got the star map unloaded.

"It's a shame about the coat, but I guess I can figure something out later. I've got other jackets on my ship which I can just try and make a new favorite I guess," Holden shrugged then winced again.

Through the wincing and the conversation Holden was keenly aware that something seemed right. He stood up suddenly and peeked out around into the waiting room. How!? The men chasing him were waiting. Of course they weren't coming in guns blazing. Holden grabbed his coat and looked at then doc.

"You got another way out of here. They're outside."
