Kale just sat in his pilot's seat admiring the stars and letting his mind dwell on that lovely green Twi'lek woman that he was working with. In fact, he was so deep in his musings, he almost missed the proximity alert as the target ship and the A-wing escorts popped out of hyperspace. He used his thrusters to orient his ship for its attack run and then waited for the signal. He grinned at hearing the slavers' signals go from excited to complete chaos. "Now Rascal!" He ordered his R5 unit to slam power back on his ship.
Everything powered up at once and Kale activated his sublight engines. As soon as he reached maximum sublight, he activated his SLAM and it lived up to his name as he was suddenly slammed back into his seat due to the sudden burst of acceleration. He switched his weapons to concussion missiles and watched the distance wind down quickly. The instant he was in weapons range, he deactivated his SLAM and fired a concussion missile at each A-wing.
As the A-wings began frantically trying to evade the incoming missiles, Kale looked at the scanners and noticed that the target ship hadn't raised its shields. He figured that his partner was creating too much chaos for any real coordinated defense. Kale switched to his ion cannon and strafed the target ship with four shots. As he pulled out of his run, he noticed that one A-wing had been destroyed but one other had managed to evade his missile.
Kale corkscrewed his flight path as the A-wing fired its lasers at his ship. A couple of the bolts connected with his ship but all that really did was soften his shields a little. Kale knew the A-wing had him beat when it came to speed and maneuverability but Kale had faith that he was the better pilot. "Rascal, control the dorsal turret and fire wide to get him to turn into us." Rascal beeped his affirmative and began shooting on the dorsal turret. Since he didn't have much in the way of crew, his little R5 had plenty of experience as a gunner and fired well placed shots that caused the A-wing to swerve in an arc that just barely brought him in front of Kale's firing arc. Kale fired off a volley though only one or bolts connected, it was enough to cause the A-wing to stumble as he tried to escape. Kale switched to concussion missiles again and managed to lock on to the A-wing just long enough to fire two more missiles. Once more, the A-wing went into evasive maneuvers to evade the missiles, but now the missiles had Kale's accurate laser fire to back it up. He managed to clip the A-wing once again, sending it into an uncontrolled spin that lasted long enough for the two missiles to finish the job. Kale swung his ship around and raced toward their principal target ship. A quick scan showed him a viable docking port and ordered Rascal to dock up with it as he opened an encrypted comm channel to his partner, "Emerald. A-wings neutralized. Docking in 10 seconds. What's your status?" He asked as he quickly sealed his armor and made his way to the airlock.
