Range 15

Right, so a few years back, some folks got together and decided to make a zombie movie.

That in and of itself isn't anything new, people make zombie movies all the time.

What sets this one apart is the folks who made it.

Nick Palmisciano of Ranger Up and Mat Best of Article 15 Clothing are responsible for building two of the more successful military themed clothing and apparel companies. Nick is a former infantry officer, Mat is a former ranger, and they're both well respected in the veteran community. So when they announced they were going to make a movie, everyone kinda flipped out. The Indiegogo campaign hit its initial goal in just a little over 3 days, and has gone on to earn over a million dollars, making it the fourth largest crowdfunded movie on the site to date.

With the exception of a few big name actors like William Shatner (yes, that one) and Danny Trejo and some other guys I can't remember off the top of my head, the cast is almost entirely made up of veterans. Aside from Nick and Mat and the other guys that work at Ranger Up and Article 15, you've got a couple of Medal of Honor recipients, UFC fighter Tim Kennedy, and Marcus Luttrell of Lone Survivor fame. Most of the extras, and especially the zombies, are veterans as well. (Side note: if you're offended by the notion of amputees making light of their condition, this is not the movie for you.)

The first trailer dropped this morning. It is a red band trailer, so I've hidden it behind a spoiler tag to protect delicate ears. Give it a watch, tell me what you think.

Likewise. Looks like it's going to be a beautiful trainwreck of a film. I don't know any of the Article 15 crew, but I write for Ranger Up, and I know just how twisted Nick and his crew can be. Will it be a cinematic masterpiece? Probably not. They had an impressive budget for an indie film, but it's still pretty shoestring, and the whole thing was shot in just under two weeks. I can definitely see it picking up cult classic status, especially in the veteran community.
