Following the recent losses at Sarka and Nar Kreeta, the regiment has been called up to full active duty. It now serves as a front-line infantry regiment in the theatre of Bryn'adul expansion.

Historically, the 3rd Ranger Infantry Regiment was a reserve unit based on Kashyyyk. It generally served as a training unit for new enlistees and acted as part of the protective garrison for the Wookiee Homeworld. Following the losses at Nar Kreeta and Sarka, the Regiment was called up to active duty and is being deployed to the front. Due to its role as a reserve unit, it is far more lightly armored than other front-line Ranger units, such as the 666th Devildogs Mechanized, but it brings additional numbers, the same underlying training and a wide array of weaponry with which to dispense death to the invaders.
