- Internally Modular: Much like the CR90 Corvette before it, the Ranite's interior is designed to be highly modular. This allows the Ranite to act as anything from a cargo hauler, passenger liner, troop transport, hospital ship, or even as a fuel tanker. The Ranite can hold anywhere from 800 passengers or 10,000 metric tons of cargo depending on its configuration.
- Versatile: The Ranite is a highly versatile weapon due to its modular interior holds, and its not uncommon to see the ships act as transports for high-ranking diplomats, troop ships during military operations, armed transports for moving cargo, base ships for explorations, or even as starfighter refueling craft.
- Lightly Armed: Like other Rescue Service ships, the Ranite is not specifically designed as a combat craft, and consequently sports lighter weaponry compared to the average dedicated warship of its size.
The Ranite-class Armed Transport is a small, multipurpose design used by the Rimward Trade League in a manner very similar to the old CR-90 corvette. With a little work, the interior of the Ranite can be reworked to allow it to fulfill a myriad of roles, from a simple armed cargo hauler to a troop ship to a hospital ship and so forth. This reconfiguration does not require a shipyard or any specific facilities, allowing local League commanders and officials a great deal of flexibility, especially in areas where significant organizational resources are scarce and the conditions are ever-changing. While not a particularly flashy craft, the Ranite's flexible nature has made it a relatively popular craft within the Rescue Service fleet.
