Rank Title Addition

So after some talking with a couple of friends on discord we realized that during the Rank Title Contest there was a Title that had been neglected to be made despite how useful for the site it could have been. So i figured i'd suggest it here to be added to the roster of titles we can currently add to our profiles. And that title is as seen below.

Grandmaster. A word that has quite a bit of relevance on the site when considering its meaning. Plus, it is an effective title for faction leaders to recolonize one another and boast their status as well. So how does everyone else feel about this? Does anyone else think this title should be added to the list?

A rank title to be used by a single person, or perhaps 2-3 individuals across the entire site claiming the 'Grandmaster' title?

Thought the idea of the rank titles was that they were sufficiently generalised that anyone could use them. This...isn't.

Few have the title evident on their profile, and it'd be nice to see the Owners for OOC knowledge if we happen to thread IC who we are meeting / fighting etc.

Firstly, you can't be certain there are only '2-3' people who can use the title. Thats just something you can't ever know.

But more importantly there are characters who own large schools, Dojos, and combat academies as well as those who teach large bodies of padawans/apprentices who would benefit greatly from the title. Plus, minor and major faction leaders can also benefit from the title rather than just throwing it in their sig. Having it right there front in center where everyone can see would be nicer to have in my opinion.

As we grew bigger, we realized it was a waste of resources to keep such a limited title with our increasing size, and gave the idea of "elitism" being the norm.

However, with your comments in regards to teachers who own dojos and schools and the like, and not explicitly related to force (such as Jedi Grandmaster, or the likes), then it is a meritorious idea.

Make it a normal rank anyone can select, and then you can have Jedi Grandmasters, as well as Grandmaster weapon smiths, Grandmaster sharpshooters, Grandmaster whatever you want. Then it loses its exclusivity, while retaining some idea of prestige in a character wearing it.

I say under something like this, a title like that might see some good use :)

I like the idea, and can't really see an issue with it as long as its used as a regular rank title like Conquerer, Healer, Alchemist, etc.

Yes, in Star Wars the term Grandmaster has been used for highest position in various Jedi Orders. But it just as well encompasses other areas such combat schools, dojos and the like.

Fence. That is what I am on.

I can say, readily, that I do see the use of such. For one thing, being a teacher of a small sect for a time, having the overarching title would have been fun and interesting.

However, I can say also, that use of that one term would then lose its meaning. Take the Jensaarai. They have their own leader (can't remember how to spell it so won't fail) and during a time my char even held the position, but it was not Grandmaster. So it would have been... Well odd.

Its like saying lets put 'Red Lover' because some characters might love the color, or 'Blaster User'. Yeah a lot of people might use them both, but how much in comparison to others? Every one of the ranks so far actually gets quite a bit of use, from what I have seen.

But take up some of the allotted space for one maybe used by a half dozen characters?

Again, yeah I see the benefit and love the shinies. But will it be used enough to warrant it?
