- Pinpoint Accuracy - Being a weapon that fires a single, continuous beam of concentrated energy at incredible speeds, the Rapier laser rifle is capable of hitting targets at extended ranges with great accuracy. Very little precise aim is required, as the gun is essentially a giant laser sight.
- Prolonged Beam - Unlike traditional rifles, the Rapier fires a laser beam that consists without faltering, allowing no opportunities for enemies to slip through its beam.
- Soft Laser - Unlike most focused beam weapons, the Rapier has a relatively low penetration against armored targets. In fact, it will take up to ten seconds for the beam to penetrate a Mandalorian in even a standard war suit. Even against completely defenseless targets, the Rapier will not cleanly penetrate through multiple enemies as a sniper rifle would, but instead take time to fry its path all the way through the enemy's flesh.
- Unwieldy - There is an uneven distribution of weight along the Rapier laser rifle, with the front being nearly twice as heavy as the rear. It takes a decent bit of skill and strength to carry a Rapier into battle effectively.
- Ammo Burn - Having no magazine, a new power cell has to be loaded into the Rapier laser rifle every time it runs out of power. In just a few minutes of combat, multiple power cells can be completely burnt through by the laser's energy requirements.
Outer Rim decided, in order to bolster their small arms market, to combine the ideas behind an assault rifle and the company's beam laser products. As a result, the Rapier laser rifle was born.
The Rapier was designed to fire a deadly, prolonged laser beam by holding down a trigger, with power cells as fuel. Once a power cell is inserted into the clip on top of the gun, it becomes active. When the trigger is pulled, energy released, flowing down multiple tubes along the side of the Rapier into an energy pool near the barrel of the gun. Then, the concentrated energy is heated up by reverse coolant systems until it seeks open air, and the sink opens to allow all the stored energy to slowly leak out in the form of a laser beam.
