PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

  • Rasmir Rom is a deeply intelligent yet socially reclusive individual, driven by a potent mix of ambition, obsession, and lingering insecurity.
  • He believes that nature is imperfect and that it is his purpose—perhaps even destiny—to correct its flaws through genetic engineering.
  • Though outwardly confident in his work, he harbors an intense self-consciousness about his own perceived imperfections, fueling his relentless drive to create and improve.
  • He views biology as a malleable canvas, unconstrained by morality or tradition, and while he often justifies his experiments as practical solutions for farmers, his true motivation lies in proving his worth and mastery over life itself.
  • Rasmir is often eccentric, erratic, and fiercely protective of his creations, seeing them as extensions of his own identity and redemption.

STRENGTHS

  • Brilliant Geneticist: A master of bio-engineering, he is capable of both modifying the genetic material of living beings and hybridization.
  • Charismatic Negotiator: Despite his unsettling demeanor, he knows the art of the deal. Other times his off-putting personality causes others to agree to less-than-favorable terms just to get away from him.
  • Resilient Survivor: Years of relative isolation with only his thoughts on the moon of Rori has given the mad Gungan an uncanny ability to survive. Maybe it's his incredible intellect... or his spastic and unfollowable thought processes.
  • Beastmaster: While lacking in nearly all social graces with people, he has an unnatural way with most nonsentient creatures.

WEAKNESSES

  • Social Graces: Outside of manic episodes, he suffers from severe anxiety and paranoia while in new social situations.
  • Unstable Mental State: His brilliance comes at the cost of a tenuous grip on reality, and his increasingly erratic behavior can make him unpredictable, even to himself.
  • Overconfidence: He believes he can control all his creations, even when they show signs of rebellion or instability. Underestimates the dangers of his own experiments, leading to unforeseen chaos.
  • Crooked Rasmir: A severe birth defect, for which he was mocked and shunned growing up, Rasmir's eyes have never looked or functioned properly. His vision is atrocious and his anxiety peaks whenever he is without corrective lenses

HISTORY

Rasmir Rom was born on Naboo, a Gungan whose arrival caused unease even among his kin. His misshapen eyes—one large and perpetually bulging, the other sunken and shadowed—coupled with overpronounced teeth, unpredictable emotional swings and obsessive tendencies, marked him as different from the start. Known cruelly as "Crooked Rasmir" by his peers, he grew up an outcast, his isolation fueling a fascination with the mechanics of life itself. He spent his youth in secret, dissecting swamp creatures and dreaming of ways to reshape the natural order.

When a series of mutated swamp creatures were discovered near the city, the Gungan elders accused Rasmir of tampering with sacred life. Banished from his homeland, he wandered the system, finding refuge on the frontier moon of Rori. There, in an abandoned lab deep within the wilderness, he began a new chapter, transforming his obsession into a profession.

Rasmir quickly earned a reputation among farmers for his modified livestock. Gizka that laid eggs twice as large, banthas resistant to disease, nerfs with accelerated growth rates—all bore his signature genetic alterations. Though crude by his own high standards, these creations funded his more experimental work. His ultimate goal was not simply to create better livestock but to push the boundaries of biology itself. He had only just begun cross-breeding and radically altering DNA, his mind brimming with ideas that most would call impossible—or monstrous.

Despite his growing success, Rasmir's work remains driven by personal demons. He sees every creature he modifies as a small victory over the rejection and imperfections of his own past. Traveling aboard his EML-850 starship, Geneweaver, he supplies farmers across the system while tinkering with ever more ambitious designs. For now, his creations are tools for others, but he dreams of a day when his work will reshape life itself—and perhaps, finally, fix the flaws that have haunted him since birth.
