RATS ACROSS THE BORDER

Location: Kriselist
Mission Parameters: black ops assassination

Light years away from Imperial Space a small cabal of men and women who became extremely wealthy off of the contraction back to Kalidan sat in a room looking at the news that was coming from their old capital and planning their next move. Little did they know, the Eternal Empire had already painted a target on their backs and their days were numbered.

The Mission takes place on a heavily urbanised planet of Kriselist, approximately four thousand light years within Galactic Alliance territory. These ex-Imperials refused the orders of the Empress to relinquish space and return to Kalidan, maintaining control over a network of worlds and forming a kabal that turned their old Imperial influence and power base to their advantage. The specific planets in question are not relevant, yet, the resubjugation of those worlds will be left to other people with louder guns. The objective of this mission is to eliminate these cowards that hide in Alliance territory pulling the strings of their old planets. If we kill them, then the conections will be severed and the unity of the dozen or so “independent worlds” will crumble and many will likely return to the Imperial fold willingly. The rest, like I said, louder guns.

This mission required finesse, we are entering Alliance held space to deal with an internal matter, collateral damage must be kept to a minimum, lest we cause a diplomatic incident. The mission has been put out to lucrative tender to the contractors guild but Imperial personnel will be attached to ensure completion to out parameters.

Objectives:
  • Get to the planet
  • Enter the high rise under the control of the kabal
  • Neutralise their guard forces
  • Eliminate the HVTs
  • Escape

Livia had landed her ship, a few kilometres away from the target in a private landing terminal with easy access routes planned to the plaza tower where the kabal of traitors were occupying the upper half of the building. She stood on the edge of landing bay and looked over at the rest of the infiltration members. A couple had flight packs of their own, a couple had brought along a speeder bike. With the amount of traffic in the air, it would be easy for them to travel to the distant spire and draw no attention to themselves. The urbanised financial district reminded her a little of coruscant but she knew it didn't have the endless layers below and somewhere below them was a "street level" but the number of lit up high rises in the area, populated by the ultra rich companies was similar.

"OK, let's go, I'm going to head to the upper offices where if intel is correct, they should be meeting about now. We need a couple of people to tie up the security forces in the levels below them. If they think the trouble is fifty floors below them, they might not be so quick to bolt. Who knows?" she shrugged and did a quick test fire of her suits repulsors before leaping off of the building in the lead and heading towards their target. This ought to be a lot of fun, the risk of collateral damage needed to be mitigated but that was half of the challenge of this kind of mission. Livia was itching for a good fight, she hoped perhaps one of the personal security guards of the ex-higher ups might just provide it.

Alexander Au' Valerius, AKA the Nighthaunter had only been in the service of the Galactic Alliance a few weeks when he had been given his first mission. The mission was simple, guard and inform on the remnants of a cabal of wealthy contractors that used to have ties to the Eternal Empire. This cabal had appeared in Galactic Alliance space and despite the Galactic Alliance currently having bigger fish to fry they weren't going to neglect a possible group of independent systems within their space. The SIA had assigned him this as they believed it was a good mission to get the young man's feet wet. However Alexander had quickly come to learn that he was far from young in the traditional sense.

An Alliance operative had found him in stasis on the bridge of an ancient battleship that looked to have been incapacitated during a battle many years prior. So despite having the appearance of a 25 year old man, with rather boyish looking features. The Alliance operatives put his age at anywhere between 50 to 100 years old. After his recovery from the ship Alexander had been put through a series of psychological and physical tests to determine who he was, and what he was capable of. Unfortunately, they weren't able to determine his origin as they quickly discovered he suffered from amnesia, and PTSD from a possible past life that he only ever saw glimpses of. Along with this, they determined that he was a borderline sociopath, and incredibly narcissistic.

However, he was also remarkably resistant to torture, psychological, physical or force induced, and had a remarkable strength of will. Physically, he was a phenom, gifted marksman, climber, and excellent at surviving in difficult conditions. It seemed that everything came to him naturally and he just did it all on instinct. He couldn't tell his evaluators how he was able to do all these things, just that he was able to. His ability to infiltrate and eliminate high priority targets was noted in these tests, along with his ability and love of close quarter combat. Unlike most within the SIA he wasn't the type to eliminate his target from 5 clicks away with a sniper rifle, he preferred to get up close and personal.

Therefore, being attached to a group of rich contractors as their bodyguard hadn't exactly been what Alexander had hoped his first mission would be. The young man roamed the halls of one of the upper floors of the building. His ear was tuned into the security chatter as he stopped outside one of the doors as a part of one his regular security sweeps. The majority of the security forces were below him as they believed that any attacked would have to come through the lower levels and such a force would have to work their way upwards through the levels. The goal of the security would be too slow any threat as much as possible as they got the VIPs to the speeders stationed on the roof of the tower. Alexander sighed, he couldn't have been given a more boring assignment.

I was still not an assassin, and even as a bounty hunter I lived by my own and House Orchid's code. Even after several years, I still refused to kill or hunt down women, children or even innocent people. I hunted only men, and only men who deserved it. A girl has to have principles, and I did. No matter what anybody says, that's not going to change. I've been fine so far, and I think I'll be fine in the future. After all, I got to the position I was in, didn't I? I was an adult foundling at the time; I never thought I'd be the Alor of Clan Cadera.

That is why I decided not to actually participate in the operation and not to be among the assassins. On the other hand, I have never been an assassin and I have always fought in an honourable way. Even in the case of Kralmus Orr Kralmus Orr I tried to be, but the man was insane, but somehow, he still kept to Mandalorian customs. It was more fitting for me to stay up above the city, or on top of one of the taller buildings, where I could see over to where the others were and inform them if reinforcements were coming or not.

Anyway, in the Mandalorian occupations, and I was not a member of a super-commando, nor was I any particularly elite fighter, but just a very good scout. I was small, fast, I could easily hide, blend in with people and other creatures. So for me that was good, and of course it was a lot more dangerous than an actual frontal assault. Alone, behind enemy lines, where I could rely on no reinforcements but my own skills. I thought I was a good fighter, a veteran of the Second Great Hyperspace War, but I admitted my own limitations and knew there were better men out there. Much better.

<< This is Pinkie to all present, I've taken my position, we're ready to begin. >> I said my message on the comm. channel to all present.

For the time being, everything seemed calm and peaceful; I hoped it would stay that way and no atrocities would occur. That is, not something that would involve blowing up half the city, because that would be very unpleasant. My idea of the black-ops mission was that we go in, do the job, come out. And all this without anybody knowing we were in that place and only a few bodies left behind…

I was probably very naïve in my view of the world; but that's just the way I am and I think I'll stay that way for the rest of my life.
