HYPERLANE CHARACTERISTICS
Speed: Low
Accessibility: It is public knowledge.
Route Hazards: Pirates and the likes are non-existent in First Order part of the hyperlane, law enforcement is strong. Former Iron Empire territories can also be considered rather safe but against pirates and other similar vagabonds only. Sakura-Selvaris might be of less safety along the whole stretch in terms of piracy.
Rest Stops: Due to it passing nearby mostly civilized planets, safe ports and fuel stations are common but it could also be argued the long stretches of empty space between various points. Most notable are Sakura-Netaleon and the Selvaris - Glee Anselm where there is nothing in between.
The Rausgeber stretch was blazed by ambitious honorably discharged officers of the Sixth Fleet of the First Order, the fleet under the command of Carlyle Rausgeber. In gratitude towards the Admiral's brave actions during the Zonama Sekot crisis where he saved seventy two percent of his flagship's crew, the group of explorers trailed a hyperlane that started from Zonama Sekot and passed through the fringes of the Outer Rim on the border of the Unknown Regions, through former Iron Empire space all the way close to Sith-Imperial space at Cademimu.
It is a rather safe hyperlane from piracy and similar acts but with a few stretches lacking civilization in between requiring a good preparation prior to using the hyperlane. Lately, it has become a very useful asset to the First Order's goal as it does not pass through any territory near their nemesis - the Galactic Alliance unlike the other hyperlanes that stretch into First Order territory. Out of a hyperlane blazed to commemorate the legacy of the admiral, the Rausgeber Stretch has become a strategic resource to be used by the First Order whether for trade or for military actions.
Due to the unpredictable and enigmatic nature of the Unknown Regions, navigation requires people of experience and skill thus requiring voyages to be more expensive than usual (higher skilled navigator = higher pay). While the cost is higher than your normal, well explored and completely safe hyperlanes, the stretch has opened new opportunities for navigators and space farers in terms of jobs while changing the competitive nature of trade in that quadrant of space.
Another economic point is the blazing of the trail has opened more job places for the exploration and astrogation industry, leading to a drop of unemployment in that sector. After the fall of the Iron Empire, many of that line of work have found the Rausgeber Stretch as an opportunity for work and have opted to more or less indirectly work for the First Order either directly or indirectly. With the new employment openings in that sector, law enforcement of the star systems previously under the umbrella of the Iron Empire have found economic gain to invest in the protection of the lane from brigands due to the new open links of trade with the booming economy of the First Order.
From a politically strategic point of view, the stretch has been seen as beneficial for the First Order's future expansion efforts in the Unknown Regions not only by trade and economic power as earlier mentioned but by covert intelligence operations which may or may not include the planting of First Order sympathizers in positions of power to pave the way for the First Order's extension in that part of the galaxy.
Additionally, from a completely military point of view, the Stretch has paved way for more opportunities for the Order's naval forces to sharpen their skills in the problematic unknown regions. To be always prepared to fight in the worst situations, to always be ready against the worst natural adversaries and to be well organized in case of war in the Unknown.
