Rayne hated when it was gloomy outside. It always seemed to fill her with an overwhelming sense of dread. It didn't help that her work was really the only distraction she had from her thoughts, and the rain made it impossible to collect scrap safely. Her walker was positioned under the canopy of an alleyway, and Rayne had set off with an umbrella in hand to go pick up some supplies to restock her fridge. It was going through the motions, but there was an itch in the back of the young woman's mind that very much hated the way that she was behaving. It was like she had become a robot, simply existing just to say that she was.

Yet her imagination raced through all different kinds of scenarios, the bizarre people she had been meeting over the last few months. Be it for some sense of justice, or a drive for redemption, it seemed like everyone she met was going through their lives with some kind of purpose. Rayne was simply existing day to day with little thoughts on the why. She had been distracting herself with work for weeks now, but with the air damp that was no longer an option.

It was all right in front of her now.

The Twi'lek was pretty quickly dragged back to reality out of her thoughts, however, when a speeder flew by. It kicked up water from a nearby puddle, launching it towards the abnormally tall woman and completely drenching her. Rayne reacted, of course, mouthing varying profanities and flipping the ass of a driver the bird, but it didn't really matter. She was far to quiet to notice.

It must be cathartic, Rayne thought, to scream at the top of her lungs. To simply shout at the universe. Such a thing always felt so close to possible, but the reality of her empty mouth devoid of any words drew her back to the truth of impossibility. It was no use.

So she kept walking, continuing on to the market. Cold in the rain.

Max frowned as he flew into the atmosphere. Rain pattered against the hull of his modified tie droid as his Q9 series astromech droid, Q9-U8 said "Hurry up, I'm getting wet out here!" Max sighed. "You'll be fine." He emerged from the clouds, he looked for a landing pad among the small buildingd. His ships Ion engines screeched over the allys of the city until he finaly found a pad to land on. "Ill get you out of that rain soon, U8"

He circled the landing pad and asked the operator, "Permission to land?" There was only static until a gravely voice replied "Permission granted." Max landed, a the opened the top hatch of his ship. He stepped out, and walked across the concrete floor to the window, where he gave some credits to the alien behind the counter. He left the hangar, his droid who had got himself out of his astromech socket, followed close behind.

Max honesltly didnt even know why here was here today out of all days. He could have come any other day, but he had choose today. He wished he had changed his schedule when he was making it last month, as it wasn't really very packed. Little did past him know, it was gonna be a wet and sad day. Hopefuly tomorrow would be better. As max walkeed the streets, a speeder bike hit a puddle and splashed him and a Twi'lek. He spat out water and Q9-U8 said loudly "What the hell??!" The droid turned towards the Twi'lek. "People, am I right?"

"People, am I right?"

"Uh, yeah. People."

Rayne had to speak through her vocoder again. It was straining to do so. Her technomancy was strong, but using it all the time gave her a headache. It was times like these that she wished she had a working voice box. Communication was hard.

It at least gave her a way to talk easier that wasn't through chattering teeth. She was freezing now. Rayne very much hated the cold.

A silent sigh would escape the Twi'lek's lips as she glanced down at her feet, flexing her toes within her boots. They were full of water. That was awesome, she thought to herself sarcastically. Just one more thing to make her day all the more miserable. Hopefully their weren't any more rude people on speeders to ruin her day. Not that it could be any worse than it already was, aside from wet groceries.

It was gonna be a long day.

Max smiled at her. He noticed the way she talked, and suspected she was mute "Sorry about him, hes a little talkative." Max looked at the cold woman. Suddenly, the rain picked up. He pulled his rain hood over his head as he spat out some water. "Jeez, this rain is hard!" He said, barely audible over the rain.

"This sucks!" Q9 said, rain dripping down his conical dome. "Its getting everywhere!" Im dinding shelter!" The droid rolled toward a empty tent sticking out from a storefront, Max decided to follow him. "Com on!" Max said to Rayne "Lets get out of this rain!" Max said, and started running toward the tent area.

Max raised his eyebrow. “Ok, where you headed?” He asked. He would rather not go alone, or have her go alone because this planet could be sketchy, especially in rain storms. Jsut as he said that, a figure emerged from a nearby alley. It approached them silently.

"Groceries," Rayne shrugged. "Gotta eat."

It was simple enough. People needed food. Still, she couldn't help but wonder what the stranger's angle here was. He seemed overly concerned, which was rather silly she thought. Rayne had been here on Lothal for months now, and she handled herself just fine. She certainly didn't need some nosey stranger taking care of her.

Case in point, a shady figure coming out of an alleyway. As silent as they would try to be, Rayne could feel them clearly through the force. They had a blaster on them at the very least, a piece of tech she could take control of.

One step at a time.

"Don't try it, buddy," her vocoder called out, the Twi'lek looking back to make eye contact with the oncoming alleyway creep. "I will throw you in a dumpster."

She didn't have time for this today.

Max tensed as the mam drew closer. He felt like she could take him alone, but he wasn’t sure. When she spoke the man paused, looking around. The. He kept walking, and pulled something out of his pocket. Q9 wheeled over and was about to say something, but the man shot him. Max screamed in anger and charged them man, taking him off guard and tackling him.
