Reading the Lines

It was becoming quite clear that the Dark Lord was, or at least had been, quite the philanderer. This was not in any way uncommon among powerful males of humans and similar species, though it was sometimes tempered by the norms of the surrounding culture. In this instance, there was no applicable culture that had anything to say about it. The Dark Lord would not suffer others to judge him by any standards, and the only standards he would judge himself by were those of the Sith, which did not concern themselves with the subject beyond the obvious implication of their celebration of power and intense emotion.

There was, of course, the problem of children growing up without a father, but these ones had a consolation in the enormous genetic potential they were born with, which would always find one way or another to realise itself. They were not the ones to feel sorry for. Some of them, indeed, had made quite the name for themselves as Sith. [member="Enoch Zambrano"], for example, was reputed to have played no insignificant role in the recent history of Ziost; enough so, at any rate, that his return to Bastion after a long time of apparent inactivity had drawn notice among resident and visiting Sith.

None of this had anything to do with the fact that Jatris was strolling down a corridor in the library of the Sith temple on Bastion in search of a particular row of records. It rapidly jumped to his awareness, however, when he saw the face of that very Enoch Zambrano in one of the library's corridors, where the man appeared to be searching for a particular record. It wasn't the place Jartris needed, but this was an opportunity for something more interesting. He walked slowly into the same row, pretending to be searching for a particular record himself, methodically tracing the shelves with his eyes. He reached Enoch's position just as the other seemed to have found what he sought and was picking one of the records.

"I say!" exclaimed Jartris, having no idea what the record Enoch had picked contained. "Are you going to need that for long?"
