Reading the Past

unknown.png

Location: Saleucami, Dixon Estate
Time: Midday

The quite and sunny world of Saleucami was quite the peaceful place to set up home, no large governments to tell you what to do, no Hutt cartels and no Sith Lords, well any known Sith Lords. Yet nothing would happen today of much interest to the rest of the planet, most farmers going about their daily lives. Though in a somewhat secluded area, inside an outwardly ill kept but modest mansion mind raced and ancient text in book format was searched through. Ture not the most riveting of past times but some people found solus in reading, there were just some things that one could not find on the holo net or in a holo cron.

Currently in the mansions upper level, in the study of the secluded Dr dixon resided two individuals, the place a small treasure trove of information and not just about history. When she took the title Dr, Elise did mean it, though not a practitioner the woman was quite knowledgeable on anatomy and other medical trivia, but today it's occupants were up to a different task.

Eyes glued to the ancient manuscript from the days of the Old republic Elise's eyes remained, not diverting to address her most recent guess, a (in her mind) young boy by the name [member="Milo Corr"]. Did his name mean anything? probably not, and even if it did she would have paid no real mind to it the only thing of matter to Elise being the boy somewhat interest in history and apparent force potential. A fact the boy and the others on the trip had missed, but easily picked up by the ancient Sith Lord, a possible student one may propose, or just someone to talk with.

"Again I appreciate you coming over for the day, though do forgive me for the mellow atmosphere, not very often I have visitors". "Though as for the ship we found, unfortunately there is nothing official about its position on the hyperspace lane, what ever that crafts purpose it was off the books, to a certain extent". "The time an day of departure and rough destination I have been able to fine easily, though it's mission still remains a mystery, though I do have a few theories if you would like to know".

Looking about the various books, tomes, and datapads, Milo wandered around, apparently caught in his own little world. "Oh," he exclaimed as she spoke to the transient. "Ah- uh, I wouldn't mind no. I did as much research as I could on it before I left, but only so much came up."

The vagabond turned and gave his full attention to the woman, picking at some cheap breakfast still stuck in his teeth. He was shabby and grungy, wearing a coat stained with dirt and caf. It was hard to tell the two apart. "I love all those old ships and there are numerous ones out there, lost and hidden among the stars with bounties ripe for the plunder."

"Warships, smuggler kings, pirate lords, sith vessels, jedi transports," listing a few more ships he eventually trailed off.

Elise closed the book, a soft thud coming from it as the pages hit together, the woman rising from her seat, placing the old records back into the shelf from where they came, one that held a lot of old text about the Sith. So much she even had a lightsaber on display, in a glass case, propped up in the middle of the shelf, a small holo pad next to it with limited information about it's origin.

"Ahhh so a ship enthusiast I see, would it be out of the question to state that another trip would b on your agenda soon? even with how long it will take to get that Sith craft fully sorted out you seem to be the exploring type". Herself commenting, returning to the rocking chair she was seating in before, legs crossed as she observed the young boy.

"Oh, that reminds me, while on the ship did you notice anything odd, well less notice, more feel, did you feel anything strange, dark, cold coming from the inside"? A small poke to see if the boy had gotten a small sense for his force sensitivity, if anything was going to spark it, going onto a old Sith ship that was filled with the dark side would have done it.

Tugging on his dingy coat, the man shrugged. "I mean, yeah, if I can find something else. Such prospects are not easy. Might not be a ship next time. Ships are only one slice of my interest. Ruins, battlefields, et cetera et cetera." leaning back he finally moved to a chair, sitting down in a clumsy, but careless, fashion. His eyes continued to travel about the room, more interested in history and lore than conversation it seemed, though he did not let it distract him.

With furrowed brows and a shrug Milo responded to her question. "The ship had a certain... Feeling about it. It was unnatural, which I guess is something that can be assumed of a sith vessel. It was as if there was another cloud which was as pitch as the void around us, you know?" His visage scrunched up. "The stories you read of the Sith, new and ancient, and never good. Sacrifices, blood rituals, foul creations."

[member="Elise Ike"]

Oh unnatural, now she was really liking this boy, "you'd get along with one of my relatives with those interest, though I sure can understand your enlightenment in such a field". "Despite being so long ago the past reveals so much to us, haven't been to many battlefield, but ancient toomb are a specialty of mine... probably due to their relation with the dead and what not". Those old cultures and the way they took care of the dead was always a fascinating aspect to delve into.

As Milo answered her question a small grin came about, Elise placing her hands together, cocking an eye brow slightly, "Yes the cold feel of the dark side, chilling to those that meet it for the first time". "As for those stories, they are correct to some extent, the ancient Sith were very much into those sorts of rituals and Sith spawn, not so much today but it has made a comeback to some extent, the zombie infestation they cased on Miral being a prim example".

"Though I have to ask, why did you feel that? how could you feel that, the ship was not cold and we were in vacsuits, would you be able to elaborate, or would you rather have me explain"?

[member="Milo Corr"]

Turning his full attention to Elise, he shrugged. "The dark side? I guess it has to be that. Yes. The best way I can explain it is really just through... Analogies. It was cold, though yes while I was not physically cold the hairs on my skin raised..."

The vagabond rotated his hand in a circular fashion. "It felt a bit smothering, like if you spilled black ink upon a canvas, or tripped into a lake. Besides departing, you can't really just get rid of the feeling, just endure it. At least, that is what it felt like." He then motioned to her, "Though I suspect you're a bit better at explaining it than I am. So please, do go on." Gripping the chair he readjusted himself, straightening his spine before relaxing.

"And- ah... Do you have anything to drink? I hope I am not imposing."

[member="Elise Ike"]

He was catching on faster then expected.. good, that was exactly what she wanted, "true, the dark side does do that to people, it has an unfamiliar and sort of creepy vibe to it". "Over all your analogy is correct about that dark side, i think I will use that ink further as a reference, though it also blankets your being, or soul over time it sinks in, stains your mind and body until after a while, if left uncheck is a remains forever and is very hard to get rid of".

Before going on though thee prospect of refreshments had to be answered, "I have tea mainly, what would you prefer"? She'd get up and walk over to the counter she would continue to explain to Milo the gradually arising fact to his link with the force. "Anyways from your description I believe you posses a gift, quite a common thing, a link, sensitivity to the power that binds the galaxy together... the force".

Turning back she motioned to the glass container holding the saber, "walk near that and place your hands near it, if my hypothesis is true one thing will happen". Said glass case being infused with void stone crystals to block out the force, if Milo went near it he'd feel his force connection dull and severed temporarily.

[member="Milo Corr"]

"Uh... Tea is fine. Yes." He said pushing to a stand, listening to her words. "You think I have sensitivity...?" Echoed Milo, following her instructions to cross the room. He peered through the glass at the lightsaber. "If that is so, why was I never picked up for one of those jedi orders, or poached, eh?" The Vagabond placed a hand on the glass, and deep within he felt something missing, as if an essential thread was plucked, causing him to to recoil.

Narrowing his eyes upon his pleasant host, he rubbed his wrist and drew away, returning to his seat. The transient had no response, merely sudden contemplation.

[member="Elise Ike"]

"Perhaps you simply never met a Jedi who was able to sense it, with all the wars going on most Jedi or Sith users usually seek out the orders, not the other way around" she replied, placing down a small cup for Milo, pouring out some tea while he went about touching the glass container. Her smile increasing as she watched the boys reaction to the sudden dis-connect to the force.'

As Milo walked back a freshly poured cup of tea awaited him, "I guess that makes it clear, you hust have never noticed it before but judging from your reaction you are certainly force sensitive". "Then again I knew you were the moment we met, after all for someone as skill as me picking out an untrained force user in a crowd is quite easy"

[member="Milo Corr"]

Looming over the tea he brooded, as if lost in thought, hesitating to reach a hand out to grip the cup and take a small sip. Closing his eyes he feigned enjoyment, but internally he was in a small amount of turmoil. Setting the tea back down he shrugged his shoulders.

"It is not like this changes much, I am... Attuned, or whatever, to the Force. Not like I am a different person." Milo seemed to be speaking more to himself than Elise. Turning to her the vagabond nodded. "I am still who I am. Though now I have a bit of knowledge and capacity to do a bit more, I suppose."

[member="Elise Ike"]

Ellise picked up her own tea cup, blowing the steam away a little before taking a sip, "true, this does not so much change who you are or what you do what it does do is open up is the prospect of new skills to learn, power and techniques to help you in your travel". "For the most part I myself hide my full strength in the force, more to to just avoid certain people, but even so i am capable of so much... and you can too with the right training".

Her smile becoming a little wider, having fun teasing the young man along on this ride to discover just how strong and powerful he could become. "Such skills would be useful on your treks, never know what you may find, we were lucking during our expedition, though one can be certain not every encounter will be as peaceful".

[member="Milo Corr"]

The man nodded, rapping his finger against the side of the cup for a moment, creating an audible tapping. "I suppose that is true, yes. An extra skill to add- might be useful since I don't carry..." The transient paused, tapping his chin. "Well anything. No blaster, no vibroknife. It is why I like to bring others along, never know what trouble you can get into. Might as well let them handle it."

Dusting off his grimy jacket, he shrugged. "Thing is, I don't like strings attached, you know? I'd love to grow with it, since it does have its uses, but I can't see myself walking up to some jedi or other asking for a bit of help without being gang-pressed into their little order."

[member="Elise Ike"]

Elise held her cup with one hand, tapping her chin surprised by Milo's resistance on carrying any protection while out on his adventures."hmm don't carry a weapon, a respectful thing to do in this day and age, though to an extent unwise, can't rely on there always being someone out to protect you". Sooner or later one had to become self relent, otherwise risk a very untimely death at the hands of someone who was.

She took another sip of her tea as Milo talked about the Jedi and so forth, giving a small eye roll, Order, loyalty, pfft, not something she bothered with these days, always lead you to doing something stupid or against your own will. "I understand your hesitance to join any order or seek a tutor, but there are always independent masters out there willing to pass their knowledge onto pupils, if you wish I could show you my knowledge on the force and pass on a few powers". "Consider it payment for the expedition, it was quite the dream come true to see such a ship up close and personal, though it is your choice in the end, I won't force you".

[member="Milo Corr"]

Milo once more looked into the dark, steaming, liquid, pondering. "Well..." He began,"I wouldn't mind really. This is still such a... Surprise, really. Though I suppose it should have been obvious. The signs were there." With a shrug the man took another graceless drink. "I am willing to learn if you are willing to teach."

Draining the last of the tea he let out a refreshed sigh, setting it back down. "I don't mean to run around weaponless but-" the vagabond pointed to his stained and frayed coat. "I do not have much choice. Creds don't come easy, not like I can afford to drop a few on a nice hold-out or knife. Not that I am complaining of course. Means one has to use a bit of words, you know?" Milo gave her a wide grin, "Though my tongue isn't as silver as I would like."

[member="Elise Ike"]

Elise placed her empty cup down, placing her hands together, "the galaxy is full of surprises, I trust that being with me will yield quite a few that many do not know about". "Anyways I would be more then pleased to teach you, and there is not real strict scheduled, just tell me when you want to have class and I'll make time" away had a access of that these days, not a whole lot to do.

She let of a small laugh at his attire and comparison, "well I can see, though you probably are not doing much better then the pilot we using to get to that dreadnought, he seemed to be short on creds". "Though if you need a place to crash for the night don't hesitate to ask, got plenty of rooms in this place that never get used", probably an old homestead from a farmer, probably died during the raghoul plague. "Though if you do become my student you probably wont have to worry about funds for a while, lets just say I have a small fortune up my sleeve".

[member="Milo Corr"]

"Yeah I wonder what happened to him..." He spoke idly, before nodding. "You are providing quiet a lot, I do not mean to impose, ma'am. Credits, education, and even a place to rest one's head. Most people would not give me the time of day, let alone a pillow."

Milo's eyes once more flowed across the room, even going as far to look out into the hallway taking note of its rustic appearance. "I am always willing to learn if you are willing to teach, ma'am." Placing hands upon he knees he gave a short dip of the head.

[member="Elise Ike"]

She gave a small shurg, most likely the smuggler used the pay check to get a better ship and was out there transporting who knows what over the galaxy. "Milo, when you have a plentiful supply of something sharing it is honestly the best thing to do and with how old I am, along with family connection, I rarely have a want for anything". "I mainly just live out hear to get away from all that busy life, do what I want, that sort of stuff, also grandmother can be a slightly pain in the ass.... though what I offer does not come all free, there is just one thing I need to ask of you".

"You need to keep this a secret, me teaching you and all that, I have a small reputation to keep up and if other learnt that I was a powerful force user things could get hectic around here". "Hee, after all who do you think owns that light saber" her hand gesturing to the saber in the void stone case he had tried to touch earlier.
