As a whole, the Reaper-class Corvette is a highly versatile vessel capable of filling a variety of roles; both in and out of combat. Typically speaking, these roles consist of escort, patrol, and general support on the field of battle. To this end, the Reaper-Class Corvette has been adequately equipped, with both a balanced armament and hardy defensive measures, in order to excel in whatever roles it is dispatched to fill. To begin, as is the standard method of construction within the Confederate Navy, the Reaper-class Corvette enjoys a higher-than-average durability. While its first line of defense is a standard deflector shield system, the durability hails from the composition of its hull: layers of duranium and durasteel.
This provides for a higher degree of battlefield longevity in the event that the vessel's shields are dropped, but comes with the price of increasing the ship's overall weight; thereby decreasing its potential speed. However, this is counteracted by the presence of several engines with the capability of overcoming the issue of weight. As such, the Reaper-class Corvette is capable of moving apace with vessels of similar length and function, despite its overall weight.
On the subject of armaments, the Reaper-class Corvette comes equipped with a number of weapons which allow it to address most ship types. Its long-range turbolaser cannons allow it to contribute to one of the Confederacy's main strategies of battle: long-range combat, while its other armaments permit it to engage capital ships, other comparable vessels, and starfighters at close range. All in all, the Reaper-class Corvette is an exceptional, balanced vehicle worthy of being the Confederacy's standard.
