Reasearch and DEVelopment

To the drawing board! Amelia set to the task of creating a Heavy armor. She knew it would be rather easy to do. She had a template already the MKI Medium armor was in front of her on a rack. How to make this armor better... let us make it thicker, heavier, able to jump small buildings. Yeah that will work. She looked to her data logger to do some calculations. Increase the thickness of the armor plating by double. Add a jump jet backpack. Add a thruster pack for EVA and a quick evasive burst for combat operations.

This suit of armor would be made for the survivabilty of the breaching soldier. First in last out type of warrior. Heavy foward armor with less heavy armor in the back, the lighter armor in the back would be because the weight would be too much for an unmodified soldier to wear. This armor platform had so many possibilities that she was getting ideas for a completely different set as she worked on this one. Turning to her console the CEO of Deathtech Incorperated sent a message to her R&D head technichian to start devising a way to make a lighter variant of this armor and even a super heavy variant. This armortech business would make her alot of credits she thought to herself. Back to the task at hand Amelia. Scanning the armor schematics into her holodatabase was easy enough. Deathtech Incorperated already had them in their servers but she did not have them on her personal databanks. After the scan was complete an interactive hologram was displayed where she started tweaking parts of the armor.

The holographic display turned when Amelia swiped her hand. The back of the armor exploded outward and she began tweaking the components for the air supply. This armor would be able to be sealed against explosive decompression and even chemical agents. Three hour supply of oxygen and the manuvering jets could help anyone get out of the hot zone. After Amelia finished tweaking the components she turned to put out a call for test subjects. Five hundred thousand credits to gwt in the armor and be fired at by different calibers of slugthrowers and blasters to see if the armor holds up. Of course the armor wouldn't hold up against her tank but it was bound to hold up against most of her weapons and a glancing blow from lightsabers.

After testing would be the assessment phase. See how it does in actual combat. With all this turmoil in the galaxy a small scale test on some backworld wouldn't be even noticed. Send mercs after mercs in a blue force versus red force type scenario wirh live rounds and the armor. Hire two different mercenary groups to fight one another and see how it goes. Asses, improve, asses, improve, market easy peasy. Of course this could also be done with simulations but that wouldn't be any fun. Simulations would be run first but the actual combat is what she wanted to see. Actual war, kark that would be it's name. War Plate. Now to think of a fitting way to market it. Mandolorians. Even the most green of mercs knew thar Mandalorians were the badest of the bad when it came to war. Akaan Gaid was war plate in Mando'a, that is a fitting name for this armor.

Production would be easy enough. Her weapons production facilities had armor production areas since they already produced the MKI Medium Armor for Deathtech Incorperated sale. Durasteel stamping, Armorweave sewing, and even a packageing area. The armor would take about one hour to produce a single unit of armor. The plant ran constantly, never shutting down for the end of day. A single ubit of armir would then be sold at roughly two-hundred thousand credits a unit. Bulk orders would be contracted out.

The jump jet capability would help with the ease of movement of this armor. Need to get to the roof of that building? Need to get to a ridge that is too high to climb quickly? Jump jets! Straight forward aint it? Maneuvering thrusters are useful for everything. Dodging to throw off aim, quick boost to get to cover, moving through space to escape or self-rescue when blown out of a ship.

Evading the aim of a sniper is extremely useful as is evading the swing of a Jedi's lightsaber or a Swordsman's vibroblade. A quick boost of speed can be used for anything that is needed. Try to jump across that gorge and don't have the Hops? BOOOST! Even usable under water Since the maneuvering thrusters are just compressed Carbon Dioxide that is collected from the exhalation of the User then compressed and stored for use. As long as there is a filled tank there are jets.

Next thing would be to research how to make this armor cheaper to build while not taking away from the overall quality. Armorweave bodysuits weren't super expensive but the components for the life support and thrusters would be a credit problem. Maybe use off brand parts instead of high end peices as long as they were durable. Nothing too low but cutting some costs would be fine. The credits this line would bring in should give a hefty revenue to the company, as would the attachements.

Amelia sent her designs down to the production office to set all her plans in motion. One hour a suut would give her a full standard day before all suut were ready. From testing to assesment. She had high hopes for her armor, Amelia liked to think she was a genius even though she was not. After the file was transfered she got up and headed down to the offuce in case there were any questions or concerns. On her way down she fantasized about what she would do with the credits thus line would bring in. Maybe she would buy another company and expand her market. The droid she had been working on was nearly complete so maybe she would buy a droid company and start producing those.

A problem occured. An organic worker wasn't watching where he was going with a load of Durasteel and ran into a console causeing it to explode in a shower of sparks. No organic workers were harmed, but the worker that hit the console was fired...out of a cannon. Anelia finally got the first set of armor made and went to put it on herself. It fit snug as it was supposed to but her movement was a but hindered since she was untrained in it. A trained soldier would be as nimble as a heavy trooper should be. An abnormally strong soldier would be much more agile due to their strength. This armor was heavy. Much heavier than Amelia herself liked to use however, this armor was not for her it was made for the heavy troops to use.

Two months. This journey took two long months to complete, from drawing board to production. Now Deathtech Incorperated had it's first shipment ready to go to the warehouse. Once the orders came in the armor would be shipped to their respective clients. Not many soldiers would be standing up to the might of a battalion of Akaan Gait Heavy Armor. Time for Amelia to go back upstairs to build the storefront inventory up in anticipation of the new armor being sold.
