Overseer for Imperial Scientific Development
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To create a suckable source of breathable air as a replacement for rebreather in non-toxic unbreathable atmosphere
- Canon Link: n/a
- Permissions: Permission from Taozi Fuyuan to use Clan Tal facilities
- Primary Source: n/a
- Name: Rebreather lozenges
- Manufacturer: Tal Research and Medical Hospital
- Affiliation: developed by Trinity Harris during tenure at Boolon Murr Medical University
- Market Status: Open-Market
- Modularity: ingredients can be changed to release
- Oxygen
- Nitrogen
- Argon
- Methane
- Other gases may be formulated on a Limited basis
- Production: Mass-Produced (or limited - see above)
- Material:
- Sucrose
- Liquid Glucose
- Tartaric Acid
- Sodium Bicarbonate
- Cyan Blue colouring
- Micellar Gas bubbles
- Proprietary catalyst
- Classification: Drug
- Method of Consumption: sucking
- Average Life: Each lozenge will release breathable amounts of gas for around 1 hour on average depending on temperature and saliva levels
- Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose:
- no nutritional value
- Contains sugar so may not be suitable for sugar intolerant individuals
- if swallowed, continued gas release can cause painful burping and flatulence
- Purpose is to allow creatures to breath in an atmospher that is low in their required gas but otherwise non-toxic
- Creature will often have wisps of mist drifting out of their mouth as the exhale
- Can allow a creature to breath in an environment low in their required gas, for example, oxygen for humans.
- Small easily suckable lozenge is more discrete than a large rebreather
- Provides absolutely no protection against other environmental hazards such as
- Extreme pressure
- Extreme temperature
- Poisonous gases
- biological contaminants
- liquid aspiration
- Each lozenge only lasts and hour so multiple packs recommended for longer durations
These small blue lozenges are around 10mm long and 5mm wide and are designed to be sucked by the user. Once warmed and wetted by the creatures saliva they begin to release their gas. This allows the creature to breath the gas as it comes off of the lozenge.
Not intended to be used as a protective agent against toxic environments, they are only useful to creatures who jusy need the gas added to make the ambient gad breathable. They do not remove toxins or provide any other protections.
The most obvious sign that someone is using one of these is light wisps that look like condensation that form as the creatures exhales.
