Taking inspiration from the nigh-mythical warriors who fought in the Force Wars of old, the REC/BA/01 Blademaster Armour sought to bring their ancient values into the present, and profit from their modernization. However, as much of the data was corrupted or fragmented due to the degradation that the data banks suffered over the millennia, the Design team was forced to source alternative methods of visual representation. Through their search, the Team noted that most ancient armour seemed to favour the balance between protection and mobility, without heavily tipping the scale in either direction. This choice, made by the ancient smiths, was to ensure that those ancient warriors had the best protection available, without sacrificing their combat prowess by restricting movement or one’s agility. Thus, the design team elected to follow those ancient principles.
Ironically, Republic Engineering’s newest offering also mirrored the ancient Je’daii Order’s generalized view on the Force - where all things should live in balance - instead of the extreme radicalization brought about by the Jedi and Sith Order’s later on.
So, when it came to the armour itself - the Design team started with the armoured bodyglove that would act as the foundation for the entire panoply. Like the other undersuits produced by Republic Engineering, it was a layered composite that housed multiple components designed to create an environmentally-sealed environment, and a semi-hardened carapace. This undersuit would allow the wearer to operate in almost every environment, save the harshest of locations - such as the frozen tundra, lava worlds, and in the depths of space - without external attachments. While such additions were readily available, they would’ve broken the balance that the design team was trying to achieve, by bogging down the armour with additional, and unnecessary weight.
To that end, the external armour plating that was added to the undersuit carapace was made of layered materials seeking to offer additional protection, without encumbering the wearer or restricting their movement. While there was little of note in regards to the composition of the forged armour plating, there was something that many Blademasters would undoubtedly be thankful for. That something was the Gorget that was supplemented by the upwards rim of the Pauldrons. Through the combination of all three protective measures, a Combatant would have little worry of decapitation as their armour would ideally protect them. With that being said, however, Republic Engineering advises all Blademasters to utilize the Helmet in conjunction with the armour to garner the most protection in the throes of battle.
