The REC-CV/01 Tactical Visor was the Newest Innovation that was spawned from the brilliant minds employed by the Republic Engineering Corporation. It was intended to streamline the highly automated systems that were integrated into almost every single REC-produced starship, and increase their combat efficacy during spatial combat, despite the significant reduction in Organic Personnel. Through this newly-minted device, an organic Crewperson could easily operate several of their starship’s systems at once - be they the vast array of weapon batteries, or the myriad sensor networks.
While the connective accessibility was a highlight in the device’s overall design, there were several additions that made this Tactical Visor truly unique. When it’s tactical functionality was engaged - where it was linked to the Starship’s central Computer Core, or the Artificial Intelligence - the device would constantly seek to assist it’s Operator with excelling in their duties. How it went about such a feat was entirely dependent on their user, as it could offer various predictive algorithms that would utilize the targeting arrays of a starship to ensure their volley’s would be highly accurate. The same could be said of the various sensor networks, as their readings would be instantaneously transferred across the starship’s mainframe due to the lack of a user’s input lag.
Thus, with such a device on hand, a Warship would find itself capable of increasing it’s combat effectiveness - as much of the organic input lag would be nullified by automated connections and highly coordinated systems.
From there, the functionality of the Tactical Visor was fleshed out and enhanced by its ability to connect with the various models of droids that populated the starship’s corridors. Naturally, this digitized connection would allow the myriad shipboard Officers to easily coordinate the various aspects that came from operating a Starship embraced by the interstellar void. These aspects and tasks would range from commanding Damage Control teams during combat, to leading Security Details of Battle Droids to repel boarders - or quell the odd munity should such an internal rebellion arise. And so, equipped with these Tactical Visors - Starship Crews would find themselves operating at their peak, so long as the devices were active and connected to the warship’s mainframe.
