The REC-FC/24 Force Application Vehicle; Vornskr Pattern was the newest vehicle crafted by Republic Engineering. It was designed to replace the aging FC/12, as there were many systems within that design that needed to be replaced. The Corporation believed that it was considerably cheaper to produce the next generation version than it was to recall the FC/12 and overhaul every purchased unit. Thus, the concept of the FC/24 was devised. Like it’s predecessor, the new generation Force Application Vehicle would act as the basis of the design, before a multitude of variations would be drawn up - effectively weaponizing the platform, and making it perfect for military use.
While the FC/12 had a limited number of variations, the FC/24 had nearly double the amount of the available forms and weaponry - alongside the ability to readily swap between them. It was with such a design philosophy in mind that the Corporation believed that it would be able to sell these variations, alongside the myriad of upgrade kits to Interstellar Militaries across the known universe. Each FC/24 would then be wholly modular, allowing for these Governments to swap out the rear sections of their FAV with relative ease.
Naturally, it was designed to be as simple as possible - so REC-certified technicians wouldn’t be required to accomplish the simplistic task. However, as it required load-bearing equipment and a host of additional tools to swap out the turret section of the FAV - doing so in the field was almost an impossibility. As there were exceptions to the case, most notably the larger and stronger species that may utilize the FC/24 - it was heavily advised against any alterations to the design of the FAV. Such actions would immediately void their warranty and likely result in a cascade of failures occurring throughout the entirety of the vehicle; which would possibly force those exceptions to renew their supply contract. If that was true? Only the technicians at Republic Engineering knew, as it was a cautionary warning that was fabricated to ensure their customer’s safety, and appealed to their inherent sense of material wealth and greed.
What was the true majesty, and appealing factor for many sapients that appreciated the FC/12 was the proprietary composition of the FAV’s method of propulsion. The lusterless ebony tyres that were forged primarily out of a hardened polycarbonate material, and further reinforced by an internalized lattice of metallic carbon nanotubes. With both of those materials combined, the FAV was outfitted with near-indestructible wheels. They were puncture-proof, as many wheeled vehicles across the galaxy used bags of compressed gasses to ferry their transport across the rugged terrain. There wouldn’t be a violent explosion of contained gasses, nor would the vehicle be immobilized if a hostile combatant aimed for the tyres. With that being said, if they took aim at the driveshaft or the various connecting spars? The chances were higher at disabling the vehicle’s primary method of locomotion, and would likely strand the occupants in hostile territory.
Nevertheless, the functionality and versatility of the FC/24 far outstripped its predecessor, and if one added in the endless configuration possibilities - it was likely that the FAV would become one of the most popular designs in the Galaxy.
