DESCRIPTION
When it comes to policing the Spaceways, Governments from across the Stars couldn’t afford to send Ships of the Line to monitor shipping lanes, nor interdict piracy, or perform search-and-rescue operations. Therefore, they were wholly reliant on employing smaller, and more nimble vessels to act as patrol craft. So, the Republic Engineering Corporation saw an opportunity to expand their catalogue, and offer their customers an Enforcement Vessel capable of policing the lawlessness of the void.

From their endeavours throughout the years, the Republic Engineering design team was able to whip together a prototype in record time. Their intent was to create a swift and nimble patrol craft that housed a comprehensive suite of utility systems to assist the Operator in their Interdiction duties. As was standard with every Republic Engineering vessel, the newest model in their ever-growing line of Capital Ships was highly automated, allowing for a significantly reduced Organic complement.

In addition to the heavily automated systems and extensively networked computer suite, this new Enforcement Vessel came with a comprehensive incarceration facility - able to house several Lawbreakers in semi-comfortable lodgings. As well, due to the construction of the Starship, the Corvette was able to capture a pair of starfighters, or a modestly-sized freighter within its structural prongs with a combination of tractor beams, gravity tethers, and force cylinders. All of which would allow the Corvette’s Security Complement to board the captured Starship and search for contraband, or keep the vessel impounded as they returned to their base of operations - for due processing.

To assist in their duties of Spatial Interdiction, the Corvette was bequeathed an internalized Gravity Well Generator. While this module would help in capturing errant vessels, there was a drawback to its activation and subsequent operation. When the Generator was activated, it sadly drew much-needed power away from the engines, noticeably reducing the vessel’s interception speed - but in return, gave the Corvette the ability to keep starships from escaping into Hyperspace. Undoubtedly, the dip in performance was worth the utility that was offered in exchange.

And so, with all of the systems bound together into a single vessel, the REC-IC01 “Monitor”-Class Customs Corvette would offer an incredible boon to Law Enforcement Agencies across the Galaxy.
