The REC/MA01 “Mangonel” - Pattern Mobile Artillery was an Armoured Repulsorcraft produced by the Republic Engineering Corporation. The vehicle was designed to operate as a mobile weapons platform that would bombard hostile targets from afar through a limited array of integrated arms. With a host of automated sub-systems and a semi-sentient droid brain - akin to that of astromech droids - the Repuslorcraft was capable of being piloted by a small crew complement; without sacrificing their combat efficacy.
Though it was slow in comparison to other repulsorcraft of its kind, the “Mangonel” was highly maneuverable through the use several repulsorlift armatures that were able to move independently from one another. Nevertheless, with their innate ability to turn on a dime, the Repulsorcraft would be more than capable of rapidly reorienting their prow section to acquire new targets. Such a design choice was made because of automated loading systems installed into the vehicles chassis; which ended up removing any possibility of a rotating turret being properly mounted within the mobile platform.
Despite this apparent disadvantage, the “Mangonel” would serve the Clients of the Republic Engineering Corporation as an effective mobile weapons platform; capable of destroying their opposition from afar.
