The REC/MR01 “Ballistae” - Pattern Medium Repulsortank was an Armoured Repulsorcraft produced by the Republic Engineering Corporation. The vehicle was designed to operate as a mobile weapons platform that would utilize it’s heavy arsenal to lay waste to whatever hostile targets got in the vehicle’s way. With a host of automated sub-systems and a semi-sentient droid brain - akin to that of astromech droids - the Repuslorcraft was capable of being piloted by a small crew complement; without sacrificing their combat efficacy.
Despite the heavy armament, the “Ballistae” was still capable of a greater margin of maneuverability than it’s heavier brethren. However, that factor came at the cost of having additional, and exposed repulsorlift generators affixed to the exterior of the sloping, armoured chassis. Those generators were prime targets for cunning marksmen seeking to cripple the Repulsortank.
Thus, the “Ballistae” sought to emulate the perfect balance between maneuverability and lethality; making it an ideal medium armoured vehicle.
