Built as a potential headquarters for the Jedi Order's Circle of Healers, the Reconciliation is the first of her class, a unique vessel designed to operate as an unarmed vessel capable of working on the front lines. Intended to be the first of her class, the prototype vessel initially experienced issues with hyperdrive and navigation, though these were fixed shortly before the Reconciliation was formally put into service.
Concerns were also expressed in the Senate about the viability of an unarmed ship of such size operating even in potentially hostile territory - ultimately, the Reconciliation was built in order to serve as a medical vessel capable of working as a transient research station, treatment centre and supply vessel, and it was felt that many of the resources aboard might prove valuable to factions beyond the Republic if taken. A compromise was thus established between the Senate and the Jedi Order: the Jedi would provide personnel to serve both as protectors for the ship in the event of a boarding action, and would also serve alongside those Republic Medical Personnel assigned to the Reconciliation.
With this in mind, the Order has deemed the ship available for use by the Jedi Circle of Healers, thus to serve as a well-equipped facility that can move where needed: the Jedi are thus dispatched to treat epidemics, find cures and treatments for injuries and illness, and also serve as a mobile training platform for those choosing to join the Circle.
The ship is fully equipped with multiple medical suites: Bacta Tanks available for more severe trauma; two modern operating theatres designed to allow for invasive surgeries to be performed; a quarantine unit for up to twelve patients at a time, as well as full patient examination rooms that allow for privacy when medical exams are being conducted. The Reconciliation also has decontamination units built into every airlock and hangar bay to allow for infected personnel to be effectively quarantined in the event of contamination.
In deference to the presence of Jedi, the Reconciliation also has a large training room that can be used for instruction in Force techniques and exercise/combat-based practice, along with two lecture suites used both for medical conference and discussion, as well as lessons for the Jedi trainees aboard. This thus enables the Jedi crew of the Reconciliation to travel from planet-to-planet without having to abandon their apprentices at the Jedi Temple.
Though lacking armament, the Reconciliation does have two Tractor Beam Emplacements, designed to enable the ship to grab vessels found adrift or in danger of coming to harm via loss of control. The Frigate also had several smaller vessels available to it: a dropship designed to take medical personnel to the surface of a planet, as well as Med Sprinters used for evacuation of wounded individuals from a battlezone.
