STRENGTHS
- Redoubts: Rector-class Space Stations are built to be highly durable, with multi-layered shielding, anti-concussion field generators, and reinforced hull armor. Because of the genocidal actions of the Bryn'adul incursions, the stations are also very well armed to help fight off aggressors.
- Academy: Rector-class Space Stations are primarily designed to act as well-protected government installations focused on education and research. To this end, Rectors come with well-equipped classrooms, laboratories, and simulation technologies. Some Rectors will likely be used as military academies, while others may house particularly important research projects.
- Near Stationary: As with most space stations, Rector-class Space Stations are designed primarily to be stationary. Rectors have limited ion engines to adjust orbits around world and to help dodge potentially dangerous collisions, but are not designed for sustained movement.
When the Silver Jedi Concord regrouped after the Bryn'adul stalled incursion into the galaxy, one of their first major concerns was to find and train talented individuals from within their borders for administration purpose in their various organizations to help rebuild a devastated galaxy. But as the civilians from across the Concordia volunteered, they ran out of suitable places to train these individuals. So they came up with the idea of a station which would serve as secure academies and research project bases. This necessity gave rise to the Rector-class Space Station.
The Rector-class was created keeping in mind the needs of young scholars. State-of-the-art classrooms, excessively big databanks to store enough information to create a library, a fully equipped gymnasium & several Habitation Domes to give cadets from different species a homely feeling. But since the Concordia was always under neighbouring hostile pressure, it has a wide array of security features, very high number of armaments and defensive parameters. It also has a sizable space for starfighter squadrons which can station fighters for airspace superiority in case of any attack.
