High heat resistance and on board temp monitor made the goggles ideal for use as welding goggles, where the addition of photoamplifiers also allowed the Squib to see extremely fine detail at close range for delicate work. A mineral spotter aided the Squib in evaluating an object for barter or trade, while the measuring scanner was ideal for assessing cargo volume. When piloting, the electrobinocular feature aided the Squid in survey or range finding. When used for range-finding, the goggles only provided measures of distance and did not have any use as a targeting sensor.
