"You understand that it is an honour to be here?"

"Yup."

Makko didn't even have to look to over his shoulder to know that his casual response would have an effect. The cerean jedi would be pulling that slightly affronted expression.

"It is just... And forgive me for saying this... We welcome members of the Jedi Order. We spent time showing you how we use our kasha crystals."

"I know and I am very grateful," Makko replied. He took another few steps into the caverns. He was looking around them, but he stretched out through the Force more than he used his eyes.

"So I expected you to be looking for something large enough to engrave and meditate with or perhaps a lightsaber crystal."

"Abd you're surpriaed I'm looking for a much smaller chip of kasha crystal?"

"Yes indeed. If I understood why I would be happy to..."

Makko turned around and looked up at the cerean jedi master. He offered a brief smile.

"My reasons are my own. I just need something pure and around five millimeters across."

Makko sat in his temporary accommodation. They had offered him a workbench and tools. The Kasha crystals were often used for two purposes.

In a refined focusing crystal they formed a lightsaber with a distinctive amber blade. The cereans etched detail inscriptions into them to use them as meditation stones.

It was this purpose that had caught his attention. Makko had come to understand that he didn't learn well from books and holocrons. He learned through practical repetition.

In this case he was so determined that he had spent hours pouring over texts on how to inscribed and imbue the stones. The issue now was that theory had to become reality and there was a single chance of success.

In a clamp, beneath a microscope, was a single kasha stone. It had been cut with lasers to a clean multi-faceted shape. There was room for just a single symble to be etched into the face.

Makko had to get this right. He didn't want the past to define the future, but it was symbolically important to him that this was a gift that was an aid and not a hindrance.
