Relina Zhan is one of two daughters of the late Ducha Anastasia Zhan V of Gallinore (4847 - 4898), born only minutes before her twin sister. Zhan grew up at the Palace of Saint Clavelle in Dimitor, raised with her sister to succeed her mother in typical noble fashion. Zhan practiced fencing for sport from a young age and received all of her formal education from Clavelle Academy of Military Science, earning a degree in business administration and a major in economics.
Zhan began rising in rank during her secondary education, reaching the rank of Lieutenant by graduation. She went through pilot training and was accepted into the 7th division, 77th Tactical Fighter Wing stationed at RNAC Heirlark on Gallinore. Colloquially known as the "Angel Squadron", the unit put her through her paces in their customary initiation ritual called "The Purgatory"; Part-hazing, part-wargame. It was only after passing this initial trial that Zhan earned the right to wear the unit's tattoo, characterised by a blue halo with six stylised angel wings and the wording within the halo "7th 77th Angel", which she had placed on the small of her back. This was the point where Zhan came into the national spotlight.
Zhan was among the first to test the prototype Type M 808 Terminus starfighter her family's corporation, Paragon Enterprises, produced to replace the dated Miy'tils, T-65 X-Wings, and Z95 Headhunters that still saw service in the Consortium's Navy. The Angel Squadron took the new starfighters from the proving grounds to the stars to face a Pirate detatchment in the Lorelli Reach region of Hapan Space with impressive results. The specifications of the ships and both the technical results and occurrence during the raid is classified.
During the Second Rim Insurrection 8 years ago, the radical Heritage Council, reformed to oppose Republic meddling in internal affairs, launched an attack on the Rifle Worlds, prompting an immediate military response to quell the treason. The Angels were deployed into service in the Corsair Outback the day after the Battle of Charubah. The skirmish was bloody but the Queen's victory had broken the back of the insurrection at that point. Zhan was noteworthy for taking down a Battle Dragon, the Ballerophon, over Stalsenek by destroying the ship's bridge with a single SRAM 9X Concussion missile once the capital ship's shields were brought down. The Ballerophon crashed into Stalsenek's moon.
Zhan, now a commander, had also lost her flight lead, Major Jan Sura, at the decisive battle of Terephon. Command promoted Zhan to flight lead with a rank promotion to Major. The war was over in less than a year and the rebellious houses were brought back under control with the apprehension of some of the Heritage Council's most powerful leaders. The Queen's Justice was swift and harsh and Hapes remained with the Republic. However, tensions were far from over. An unknown assailant assassinated Ducha Zhan a week after the war was declared officially over. Dukat Caanan Sorrel-Zhan had vanished the same day. While Hapan Security has no proof he killed his wife, the father of Relina Zhan remains a person of interest and a warrant has since been issued for him to be bound by law. He remains missing.
Ducha Relina Zhan is still a member of the Royal Navy, but is inactive save for the periodic training of new recruits. She has herself listed as available if conflict arises and thus can be called to resume active duty at any time. She keeps herself busy with administration of matters of the Gallinore Militia and the portion of the Navy her world controls as well as having inherited ownership of the family business while her sister co-rules with her as the planet's political representative in Her Majesty's Peerage Council. While Paragon Enterprises is managed with its own command structure, Zhan owns the business and frequently provides input on production, employee welfare, acquisitions, and finance matters.

Psych analysis of subject indicates she may be suffering from the initial stages of post-traumatic stress. However, subject also displays an unusual degree of honour in combat. She has been observed arming an opponent prior to a duel once. Her skill with a rapier is elegant, but aggressive and deadly. While the defeated offender survived the clash with subject, subject herself saw to it that she received care for wounds that might have killed her. Further observation and therapeutic counselling of subject advised.
Subject is also known for charity, in particular those concerning war orphans and veterans. She gives generously to such organisations and sponsors a Wayist boarding school for orphaned children. Subject tends to avoid political affairs as much as she can, but has been known to comment approval or disapproval when politics becomes a topic of conversation. Subject has told journalists she believes herself an inept politician and prefers to leave that arena to her sister as a result.

Relina is a Hapan-breed Human and as such, she is nightblind. What passes for night on Gallinore amounts to what we would consider early twilight; the amount of light received from the Transitory Mists and the other stars in the Hapes Cluster is still bright enough to read a book by comfortably at Gallinorean midnight. In true night outside of the Hapes Cluster, she'd be considered legally blind. Bright street lights would illuminate what is immediately under them, but to Hapan eyes, the light falls off at a much shorter distance, obscuring more of what a mainbreed Human might otherwise be able to make out with some degree of detail. Hapan eyes also do not adjust to sudden darkness very quickly. What's worse is that other senses, like smell and hearing, do not compensate to a significant degree, making Relina more vulnerable in the dark. As a result, she also becomes edgy and paranoid in the dark. Incidentally, as a little girl, she used to be terrified of darkness, such that she had to have the curtains drawn open to let in the light from the insulating Transitory Mists nebula. To this day, she still sleeps with the curtains drawn open.
Relina never leaves a companion behind if she can help it... and if she can't, she'll insist upon mounting a search, regardless of the danger. While honourable, it can be her undoing.
Relina is Force sensitive but has little interest in learning to harness it, believing much of what little Jedi and Sith teachings that she had heard talk of to be foreign religious superstition. She loosely adheres to her own, local faith, instead.
Strengths:
Relina is a competent fighter pilot with almost inhuman reaction time and an uncanny intuition. She is also an excellent fencer and can be deadly with a vibrorapier.
Relina is Force sensitive to an above average degree, as is her twin sister, although neither are trained in it's direct use. Relina, as a result, is only able to use it passively and doesn't yet fully realise that the flowing 'current' she feels when her adrenaline levels rise is a manifestation of the Force flowing through her, guiding her intuition and reflexes. She personally doesn't understand the concept of the Force entirely and doesn't really want to. She had fancifully entertained the idea that her Goddesses or the patron Saint she is a direct descendant of might be responsible for her strangely effective ability to fly and fight better under a great deal of pressure. This is largely due to a local and cultural religious bias as opposed to belief in the Force.
