Intent: A reward for participants in the Renatasian Confederation's Exploitation of Erilnar
Development Thread: In Progress
Manufacturer: Renatasian Confederation

Modularity: No
Production: Limited (Participants in the Exploitation of Erilnar)
Strengths:
Description: The Renatasian Confederation is a smuggling coalition, not a military outfit, and most of their technology is designed to help them evade and escape pursuers rather than kill them; outright violence brings down too much heat. This was the design principle behind the Wrecker Spike, a thin, three-inch blade made of ionite. The point of the spike is tapered from a single molecule in thickness, an idea borrowed from the weapons known as molecular stilettos, allowing it to punch through heavy plating.
It's not a weapon, however; it's a sabotage tool. A practiced user can ram a Wrecker Spike into the power source of an electronic device, at which point interference from the ionite blade will disable the enemy technology. Because the spike is so small, with only a few centimeters sticking out of the target when it's deployed, this type of sabotage is very difficult to detect and counteract. The blade also causes havoc with any sensors trying to locate it, forcing searchers to comb the sabotaged device by hand.
Wrecker Spikes were designed for use against hyperdrives, repulsorlifts, and the power conduits leading to sublight engines. An individual spike can't affect anything bigger than a freighter-sized hyperdrive, though multiple spikes placed strategically in power conduits might be able to shut down systems of larger craft. The spikes also have to be placed with extreme precision. Because the blades are so thin, trying to stab one in at the wrong angle will snap it and render it useless. If misplaced, it will have no effect.
Armor plating on a target device that is thicker than three inches will also defeat the spike, which is not long enough to get through.
Because of their valuable ionite content and the complexity of their construction, Wrecker Spikes are expensive. Only trusted smugglers of the Renatasian Confederation and their allies are permitted to use them, and carrying more than two at a time would require a heavy expenditure of credits. However, the spikes don't show up as weapons on scanners, and a thin cap placed over the blade makes it look like nothing more than a datapad stylus. No law enforcement organization to date is aware of how they work.

Strengths:
- Stealthy: Wrecker Spikes are very small and have no powered components. Their ionite content shorts out sensors.
- Effective: Wrecker Spikes can disable the power sources of devices up to the size of a freighter hyperdrive.
- Fragile: Wrecker Spikes can easily break or fail to work if used incorrectly or in a rush.
- Expensive: Wrecker Spikes don't come cheap. Carrying more than two is prohibitively expensive.
- Small: Wrecker Spikes can't affect very large devices on their own. Very thick armor also stops them cold.
