Republic Commendations [Draft, LF Feedback]

After seeing @[member="Ben Watts"]'s application for FL, I figured the idea of awards would be a great thing to do right now. I concocted a draft for a thread in the Resources forum and I'm looking for opinions from the faction. A lot of the names for medals and commendations I took from Star Wars lore, so a few should be familiar. Any feedback is appreciated.

REPUBLIC COMMENDATIONS​

Extraordinary deeds deserve to be noted. These commendations serve as in-character rewards for the deeds of characters acting in the name of the Republic.

To request a commendation for a specific character, reply with the following template filled out:

Commendations can be given retroactively and posthumously if proof is shown.

Below is a list of commendations that the Republic gives out.

Cross of Glory

• The highest award given by the Republic to a person who, while a member of the Republic Armed Forces, distinguishes himself or herself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in action against an enemy of the Republic. The deed performed must have been one of personal bravery or self-sacrifice so conspicuous as to clearly distinguish the individual above his or her comrades and must have involved risk of life. Incontestable proof of the performance of the service will be exacted and each recommendation for the award of this decoration will be considered on the standard of extraordinary merit.
• Recipients:

Medal of Bravery

• Awarded to a person who, while serving in any capacity in the Republic Armed Forces, distinguishes his or her self by extraordinary heroism not justifying the award of a Cross of Glory while engaged in an action against an enemy of the Republic. The act or acts of heroism must have been so notable and have involved risk of life so extraordinary as to set the individual apart from his or her comrades.
• Recipients:

Medal of Valor

• Awarded to a person who, while serving in any capacity in the Republic Armed Forces exhibits bravery and valor in a military conflict against enemies of the Republic. The required gallantry, while of a lesser degree than that required for award of the Medal of Valor, must nevertheless have been performed with marked distinction.
• Recipients:

Cross of Heroes

• Given to any that have been declared a Hero after a successful Invasion. A Hero is one that has been seen to be so pivotal to the outcome of a battle that their deeds are worth noting for future generations.
• Recipients:

Chancellor's Service Medal

• Awarded by the Supreme Chancellor, this medal is for individuals that perform extraordinary feats in war in service to the Republic.
• Recipients:

Medallion of Honor

• Awarded to an individual, Diplomatic, Military, or Civilian, who exhibits especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the Republic in non-combat engagements.
• Recipients:

Star of Peace

• Awarded to an individual, Diplomatic, Military, or Civilian, who exhibits especially meritorious contribution to the cause of Galactic peace in the Republic's name.
• Recipients:

Republic Heart

• Awarded to a person who, while serving in any capacity in the Republic Armed Forces, has been injured in action against any enemy of the Republic during a military engagement. OOC: Only characters wounded by a SWRP member's character are eligible. Wounds from NPC's do not count.
• Recipients:

Medal of Order

• Awarded for individuals aiding in the arrest of enemies of the Republic. OOC: Only capture of a SWRP member's character is eligible.
• Recipients:

Mark of Dedication

• Awarded to any person who, while serving in any capacity in the Republic Armed Forces, distinguished him/herself by heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy. The performance must have involved personal hazard or danger and the voluntary risk of life under conditions not involving conflict with an armed enemy. Awards will not be made solely on the basis of having saved a life.
• Recipients:

Prisoner of War Medal

• Awarded to any person who, while serving in any capacity in the Republic Armed Forces, is taken prisoner by hostile forces. OOC: Only capture by a SWRP member's character counts.
• Recipients:

Republic Defense Service Medal

• Awarded to any person who, while serving in any capacity in the Republic Armed Forces, exhibits bravery and valor while defending Republic planets or territory from enemies within or without.
• Recipients:

Combat Action Ribbon

• Awarded to any person in the Republic Military who has actively participated in a ground, surface, or aerial combat. The principal criterion is that the recipient must have participated in a bona fide combat firefight or in an action during which he was under enemy fire and his performance while under fire was satisfactory. OOC: Must have participated in an Invasion or open battle Skirmish.
• Recipients:

Combat Veteran Ribbon

• Awarded to any person in the Republic Military who has actively participated five ground, surface, or aerial combats. OOC: Must have participated in 5 Invasions and/or open battle Skirmishes.
• Recipients:

Combat Elite Ribbon

• Awarded to any person in the Republic Military who has actively participated fifteen ground, surface, or aerial combats. OOC: Must have participated in 15 Invasions and/or open battle Skirmishes.

I like this. Gives more flavour to the faction and rewards people for roleplaying. I also like how many of them specifically mention Republic Military - this is definitely something for the nfu roleplayers to get their teeth into.

While this is something NFU characters can be a part of, they're not the only intended audience for these commendations.

Might not be practical...but having to request a commendation seems kinda contradictory. Being acknowledged for accomplishments loses its weight a bit if you have to wave them around in people's faces first.

I don't expect Faction Admins to know everything going on. Plus, one can request a medal for another person.

Also helps promote the buddy system or a way to be like:

"Hey Daella, you were pretty awesome in the Invasion on O'reen you deserve a reward and some recognition"

Helps build community and keeps us from being at each other's throats, all my likes to this

I think they could definitely be an interesting component, and really enrich the NFU side of things. The Republic military doesn't have much of a culture of its own right now, compared to what the Jedi have. This would be a huge step in getting the ball rolling to start forming a culture that could potentially bring NFU people in, and then give them material to work with to create some long-lasting stories.
