Requesting Aid - Sekalus

Forgive my ignorance, I'm not exactly up to date anymore with recent events so I may be way off here, but Isn't this the world full of people that were turned into cats by the BR?

Is there really any precedent for why the GA would involve itself with this, other than the world being somewhat within distance map-wise? Is there any vested interest as to why the GA would have reason to lend support as opposed to any of the other countless worlds the Sith have already invaded to the north?

(Sekalus' most recent history is the discovery and the takeover of the planet by the Sisterhood. Recognized as Sith, not many put up resistance, but the ones who no longer held love for the Sith ways were soon after eradicated and the seat of the throne was overtaken by Sanya Val Lerium, the one who had converted the former high king and ruler of the planet to croa.)
Since the establishment is already controlled by the 'sisterhood', which brutally eliminated their enemies, I don't see any compelling reason for the Galactic Alliance to assist such a reprehensible government.

When wolves turn on each other the shepherd does not stop them.

[member="Sanya Val Swift"], it doesn't really matter if the Black Rose exists or doesn't. The disappearance of that organization doesn't mean that the Queen can change her title to "Republic affiliated" and make everyone forget that she brutally wiped out resistance on the planet.

[member="Suravi Teigra"], the members of the Galactic Alliance are free to assist if they want, but as F.O. I'm going to have to say that we can't condone support for either side in that fight.

lthough the Sith had a terrible reputation, they were still courteous guests who always arrived on a planet with one kind of gift or another. Usually, these gifts consisted of destruction and massacre but this time, they decided to bestow upon this pitiful planet something grander. Genocide and complete eradication of all livable habitat.

My motivation here is to prevent the mass-murder of 9 billion people. Just because I don't like the current administration, that doesn't mean I'm going to let the people suffer if can do something about it. I was hoping that the Galactic Alliance would be of the same mind when I asked for help.

If it counts for anything, In my negotiations with Sanya to provide funding and protection to Sekalus, I mandated that she adhere the same standards of governance expected from all Republic systems moving forward. As Sanya and my peers can attest, I was very insistent that she follow through with that mandate. I had plans to get more involved with Sekalus to work on establishing a constitutional monarchy, but things had gotten hectic with the Sith back then, and now my character is busy uniting systems that have been cut off from the GR on the map.

If she goes back to pulling the same shenanigans she did in her BR days, then she will either be cut off or removed from power. The former is a strong motivator, because I know she would be hard pressed to find support anywhere else among the light-side factions, and she would lose the Libita battleship to the GR. The write-up for the latter option would be a breeze considering how she established herself.

I appreciate your response as FO, even if it wasn't the one I had hoped for.

I think also as a point to highlight, the negotiations that we had begun with the GA and the BR died from their lack of response to the thread; at the time, we had heavy intel suggesting Sith within that space, the forceable genetic change on an entire population and its subjugation.

So icly, relations are still strained.

I would assume this to be true, however the circumstances surrounding the predicament that Sekalus is now in is where the point of contention comes in. I believe, if my knowledge of things is up to date, that Sanya was a Jedi who defected to the Sith, subjugated the entire populace under the BR, and, while I understand that the BR no longer exists, she is still the reigning power there, correct? That would likely change very little in the eyes of the GA members from an IC standpoint. Claiming to be good after such a heinous act is a tough pill for people to swallow, even if the act of good deeds follow, that's a hard stain to get out, you know?

I understand it kinda sucks to have a whole planet worth of work get washed away by genocide, but, with actions come consequences. For what it's worth I'm sorry! Jamie would be worthless in a war at her current stage of training regardless of the situation however.
