D O M I N U S
Intent: To create a "Witch-themed" source of light.
Manufacturer: Isley Verd
Model: "Resam" (Mando'a: Light Ball)
Affiliation: House Verd, Witchmasters
Modularity: None
Production: Limited
Material: Briya'chite, Glass
Special Feature(s):
A Resam is the result of a notable alchemist's tinkering with his creation. Roughly translated as "Light Ball" in Basic, the item in question manifests as a simple sphere with an exceptional capability.
To begin, a Resam begins as a hand-crafted sphere of glass. The process by which the sphere is created varies little from tradition, yet alchemy is incorporated in order to result in a desired trait. The glass is blown intentionally light, much lighter than what would typically be usable or acceptable by a craftsman's standards. However, through alchemy, said glass is strong enough to be worked with and held aloft by potential users. Once completed, the sphere is carefully separated into two parts and grooves are incorporated. Through this, a potential owner can simply screw open/close a Resam in order to replace its internal components.
At this point, the sphere is fitted with a zersium wire that plays a dual purpose. On one hand, it acts as a mount for the integral piece of Briya'chite. On the other, it acts as filament for the Resam's key capability. Once successfully fitted with said crystal, the sphere is closed and the Resam is complete.
It may take up to a couple minutes for the trademark capability to manifest itself, however, the result will literally light up a room. The Briya'chite will form a circuit with the Zersium, thereby providing light in a similar manner as a standard lightbulb. In addition, the exceptional lightness of the glass combined with the rising temperature of the contained oxygen results in flotation.
Of course, the degree of flotation is not unlimited. A Resam will not simply levitate into the heavens never to be seen again. Rather, it has a rough "ceiling" of approximately five feet. In addition, while the glass is strong enough to withstand being screwed on/off, anything beyond that can form cracks or absolutely obliterate the sphere.
All in all, a Resam is simply an attempt by Isley Verd to literally light up a room. With Magic.
