The Lost
Maricana did it. The generator was up and running again. Now the power was on. The place finally looked much less gloomy as it did before. Sure, there were still so very many corpses and skeletons scattered around the entire hospital but some light still made the place look better than it did before. It added a layer of happiness over the harsh reality of this hospital.
Maricana was inches away from getting off this planet. All she needed to do was send a distress signal. She ran through the hall, stumbling upon everything in her path, her mind filled with the vision of hope that may someday someday come to be true. She was sure it would. Soon, even. She was about to cause it to happen. Her heart beated fast as she ran through the halls, ready to do something that may cause hope for her escape of this terrible place she calls a prison.
Maricana opened the door, tears nearly coming out of her eyes. She had been in this place for so long and she wanted to finally be free. She stumbled through the door and quickly went to the holocommunicator. Maricana hyperventilated as she put in the distress call. She felt as she needed to get of the planet as soon as possible.
Once the deed was done, Maricana collapsed to the floor. She leaned against the holocommunicator and put her legs up to her chest. She knew that whoever might come to get her off this dead planet won't be here for a while so she stayed there for a while. Tears of hopefulness came from from her eyes and slid across her skin, dropping down onto her legs. Her hands were trembling and she was cold, shivering from the temperature of the planet. The only thing keeping it warm in here was the power which only just came on.
She waited there... She waited until someone may come to take her away. Take her off this planet. Let her free...
