Respecting Privacy

Newsflash. My name is not Jay and I don't live anywhere near California.

Jay Scott Clark is an alias I created to protect my privacy on the internet. It is literally my first character. Others have known me as Jay Freedman, The Escort One, Kyle Shev, The Cali Surfer Bum, and Teryn Ranoir . All alias guys. Not real.

And here is the part where I'm going to ask you to respect that. Don't use my real name. Don't tell people where I live. Don't just casually mention what street I live on or where I went to High School. I'm perfectly capable of doing that on my own. If it ain't on my Contact Info? Don't share it.

Now, I understand that people are going to do it anyways. If only by accident. So I've gone to a great deal off effort to keep my identity private. I respond just as easily to Jay on the web, as I do to my own real name. But I realize now that a few folks in the SWRP community has more personal data on me than I'm comfortable with. So I'll say it again. Please respect that privacy. If I'm not posting in the IRL Photo Thread, it's not because I'm butt ugly. It's because I don't think you need to see my face to believe I'm a human being. Lol.

And this isn't just about me. It's about everybody. If 'Johnny Mando' doesn't use his real name around the site. Don't put it in your posts. Don't call a Staff Member by their real name even if you happen to have stumble upon it during a Skype chat. If they haven't told you it's cool, assume it's not cool. Respect their privacy on the web. If the account's name is Bob on the website. Address them as Bob in your posts. Not by the full given name on their birth certificate.

I'm literally depressed I have to mention stuff like this. But I suppose it is inevitable. Just be more mindful of your peers in the future. Respect others privacy as it was your own.

Thanks,

- Jay <--- Not his real name

I wonder why this was brought up...
Lol. It's not a drama thing dude. Just a little reminder that just because something CAN be said. Doesn't mean it SHOULD be said. It is a reminder that discretion, is the better part of valor.

Cheers. :D

The trick is to disclose all of you information, including your SSN, in binary or morse... or braille. Seriously, if for some stupid reason they've learned to read braille on a screen, they're on a whole other level already anyways.

Oh, and the funny looking numbers on the bottom of all your checks, and those bumpy little squiggles imprinted into your credit card. Those aren't important. :3

*Steals and becomes Not-Jay*

(Idk.... I'm just trying to be stupid and humorous to lighten the mood.)

Joke's on me, I thought we were supposed to use pictures of ourselves and our real names!

I hereby acknowledge I shall work on a mustache for my pic--er, this random bunny picture and change my name to "Esquire BunBunz the Fluffy"!

I agree with this completely, although anyone who has spoken to me through Skype knows my face anyway, and the nickname my friends call me, but that isn't the point, I don't want people calling me by my Skype name on the site, I want to be called Xero on the site :) [member="Jay Scott Clark"]

Can I call you Sir Reginald Arbuthnot Slugg III, Esquire?
Yes go ahead [member="Tamara"] but I don't wanna wake up tomorrow and find that an admin has changed my username to "Sir Reginald Arbuthnot Slugg III"
