Retrieval and Resurrection

I'd returned to Eshan after having given a girl Zara had recommended the shakedown run. But I'd been drawn back to this place, the lake on Eshan where it seemed everything had started...Last time I'd been here I'd searched for the saber but hadn't found it. Last time I'd been here I'd read a human bio-sign at the bottom of the lake too... I'd was time to head down and find out how that could even be possible.

Pulling on my EVA suit and securing the helmet and oxygen I began the dive down to the bottom of the lake bed to find out who exactly was down here...

As I descended I looked at the HUD in my EVA suit and winked at the upper left corner flicking on the helmet and shoulder lamps. Coming down to the bottom of the lake I began mapping the area with sonar and noticed there was what appeared to be an underwater structure. There was no record of any such structure in this lake and that meant that someone had hidden it well...Making my way towards the structure I noticed that the last time I'd been down this deep I'd been in a bikini and only briefly then. I'd been drawn to the lakebed but I still wasn't sure why.

Was she down here? Was the structure here holding her? Feet moving in a sort of lock-step I continued making my way towards the structure which appeared to have power judging by my scans. Into the belly of the beast I go then....

Making my way towards the structure took longer than I'd planned I'd made my way to what appeared to be an airlock though and now the real adventure would start. Engaging the airlock I stepped through as the water was drained out and the empty space was oxygenated. unfastening my helmet and unzipping my EVA suit I slid out of it and secured my EVA suit in a locker. Pulling the hood up on the Echani robes I'd worn under the suit I refastened my right Beskar hidden blade guantlet and my left healing bracer before clipping my sabers to my belt. Walking through the halls I sent out a micro-probe to map the area and proceeded to make my way through this complex.

It was odd that this base was here though from what my sensors had logged out on the lakebed there was only one lifeform in the complex which meant that either the staff were all droids, or that it was an abandoned research facility. Neither was good if I was correct but the architecture of this facility was....old. As in the times before The Galactic Republic old...While I was aware that there'd been some incredible people to come from and to Eshan I'd never known of The Echani Elders to hide something of this magnitude. Though it was possible there were relics of The Old Republic here too... I was on edge about this whole situation...

As I continued exploring the structure I came across what appeared to be a droid control and recharging station. After accessing the control cluster I re-activated one of the droids and asked, "Droid when were you brought online and what is the galactic age of this facility?" The droid cocked its head to the side and said "Calculating....the date of production for all droids in this facility is 3949 BBY. This facility was constructed and brought online two years prior to that in 3947 BBY." Blinking I did some rough calculations in my head and realized this facility and the droids dated back to The Old Republic. Blinking again I also realized that the lifeform could very well be that old chronologically...

"Droid, what is the lifeform that my scanners picked up?" The droid looked alarmed if that was possible and harshly asked "Why do you wish to know?" Blinking in confusion I said "Because there was only one lifeform I registered on scans and this facility dates back to The Old Republic. Also if the lifeform is in either cryo-stasis or suspended animation I wish to render assistance and medical attention if needed. But if the lifeform dates back that far then reanimation is necessary at this date."

"This answer is satisfactory, if you will follow me I will explain the answer to you." Nodding I began following the droid as it trundled off...

The droid led me down past what looked to be a medical wing and through the glass I saw what appeared to be a female from frozen in carbonite. The droid stopped me outside of the medical wing and said "Ma'am this facility was brought online 3947 BBY. The droids were brought online in 3949 but this lifeform was brought to this facility 23 years after the droids were brought online with specific orders to do whatever possible to keep the lifeform alive until she could be repaired. When she was brought to us she was technically deceased we were able to revive her but she lapsed into a coma at which point we were given orders to freeze her in carbonite to keep her alive."

The droid continued by saying "This faclilty has been running since then on renewable energy sources to keep the droids in rotation to care for her though we cannot continue to do so. The energy cells which provide the renewable energy are nearly drained and if this occurs we will not be able to continue sustaining her." Letting what the droid said sink in I looked at him and asked "Firstly who gave the order to keep her alive and were they a Jedi?" The droid nodded and said "The woman's name was Brianna of The Jedi Council at the time."

Blinking in surprise I muttered she was right...The full magnitude of what was in front of me hit me then I could bring back this young woman and fulfill my promise...

Looking at the droid I said "If you will allow it I am going to request that she be transferred to my care. My name is Celiana Drayven of The SIlver Jedi Order. Also if there is a hangar in this facility I would like to have my ship dock inside and have her transferred aboard immediately. I must ask was she brought in with any personal belongings?" The droid nodded and said "Yes ma'am that is acceptable for her to be transferred to your care. As for your ship yes you may have your ship enter the hangar here on site and we will load the patient aboard. As to personal belongings yes there were several they have been kept in storage in this wing if you'll follow me."

The droid led me into the medical bay and pulled out a sealed case with a riverstone and a riverstone necklace. There was also a small Echani Oak box which after opening I saw there were two sabers idnetical to the one I'd picked up on Telos. The Mother and daughter set...By The Force. The droid said then "Ahhh yes the box. After she was brought to us we recieved an order to scour the lakebed for that particular box. Upon retrieval of the box we were given explicit instructions concerning the contents. They are a matching set though the person who took it upon themselves to help the patient and attempt to revive her was to be granted one of these sabers along with hand-drawn modification plans concerning the sabers. We were also told to only release this patient to a female member of whatever branch of Jedi came."

The droid picked out a saber from the box then offered it to me. Taking the hilt of the saber I ignited the blade and was surprised to see a blade matching the color of my aqua saber. Deactivating the blade I clipped it to my belt and pulled the identical one I'd claimed on Telos free before placing it in the box and resealing it. I heard a voice through The Force say "Thank You dear child." Smiling I said to the droid my ship is on the way please transfer her immediately to the medical bay on my ship along with all patient records relevant to her.

It was time to fully fulfil my promise. As soon as she was transferred aboard and the records had been placed in the medical bay I'd be making a jump back to my home on Voss where along with my Master I could bring this young woman back...

As a reactivated team of droids began moving the young woman in carbonite out of the med bay and towards the hangar the droid I'd been speaking with looked at me and said, "Ma'am if you'll come with me there are several things that I need to transfer to your possesion." Nodding I followed the droid to what appeared to be a study of some kind. "Ma'am the primary directive we were created with was to keep the woman alive. However along with bequesting the saber and schematics to you I was given another directive as well..."

"What was the directive?" I was curious about this because of all the things these droids had held orders to do all of them spoke to helping this woman. From what the spirit had told me this was Brianne Surik and I'd be reving her with the help of my Master... The droid looked at me impassively and said "Upon having taken guardianship of the patient with the intent to revive her and then having one of the sabers passed into your possesion the ownership of this facility and all that it contains is to be passed into your possession and I was instructed to give you this." The droid produced a small palm-sized holo-projector. Opening it the holo-image of Brianna of the Jedi Council appeared...

 

[Celiana]

"Greetings young one. As this recording has been passed to you you are now the owner of this facility and all that is contained within. The knowledge and artifacts stored here are yours now as is one of the sabers. If you recieved the saber you also likely replaced it with the one hidden on Telos and I thank you for that and doing what in our era we could not, reviving my daughter. While not biologically mine I was responsible for raising her and training her. Thank you for your kindness and compassion, May the stars watch over you and The Force be with you always..."

With that Brianna was gone. The holo-projector rewinding the recording and I had a smile on my face. The droid looked at me and said "Ma'am I've just recieved the report that all relevant records have been uploaded to your ships med-bay and that the patient has been secured aboard your vessel. Final question what is your wish? Shall this facility remain active or shall it be allowed to degrade?" Looking towards the droid I said, "Keep the facility active and initate repair and restoration protocols."

The droid nodded its head and trundled away. I checked my belt to make sure the saber was there and with the hand-drawn schematics still in hand I rolled them up and sealed them in a storage tube on my thigh before heading to the hangar and boarding The Cherry Blossom. Making my way towards the cockpit I plotted the return jump to my home on Voss and initiated the take-off and jump protocols before heading to my cabin. Typing up a quick message to Master Gan I wrote "Master Gan, I've discovered something...someone truly incredible I'll be back on Voss by nights end but I'll need your help for what I have planned. The short version is this, a young woman dating back to the Old Republic is frozen in carbonite and I'll need your help to revive her fully. First we'll need to bring her out of the coma she was frozen in and then we'll need to begin the Jedi ritual to fully restore her. I'll explain in more detail when I return. Hope you're well Master and May The Force be with you..."

Sending off the message I went into the medbay and checked her vitals to make sure she was still doing well. Then heading over to the couch by my cabin I collapsed with a mixture of exhaustion and exhilaration...

I heard the chime of my ships' PA system indicating that atmo re-entry had begun and that descent and landing protocols had become active. I'd still not heard from Master Rasu yet and as much as I wished she could be here for this section of things I knew I couldn't delay in reviving Brianne. As we began the descent I took my datapad and began reviewing the ritual and protocols for reviving her. Seeing that I could do this procedure by myself I realized I'd be using both healing bracers to do the work of repairing her body and channeling her memories back into her.

I felt The Cherry Blossom touch down and once there was no more movement I began unhooking the carbonite slab in which Brianne was encased along with her charts and my resources and wheeled her and everything I'd need for this procedure down the ramp and through my home into my room. Pulling on my alchemized healing bracers I began the process of thawing her out. Channeling The Force I found the injury of where a stab wound from a saber hadn't properly been addressed. Placing my left hand on her stomach I targeted the tissue and triggering the Force energy I began stiching the flesh back together, encouraging blood flow and channeling The Force to begin healing the burns.

With my right hand I called the saber I'd gained on Telos and the matching saber from the underwater facility on Eshan to my hand and laid them on the end table beside me. I noticed the carbonite had melted away from her body and her eyes were flitting about. I chanted and said, "Old warrior arise now reborn. Light yet remains, let body and mind be reborn and restored." Triggering the crystals in my bracers I felt The Force rush into her. Placing my left hand on the sabers and my right on her forehead I saw her eyes flick open. She looked about wildly and said, "I can't see! Where am I? Who are you?"

Placing my left hand on her shoulder I said, "Relax dear. You were frozen in Carbonite due to a rather severe injury, you'd lapsed into a coma. I brought you back. As for where you are you're currently in my home on the planet Voss. My name is Celiana, and I mean you no harm. I'm a friend." With that I levitated her body out of the carbonite and into my bed. Pulling warm blankets over her I called a droid to come and move the Carbonite to the workshop. Laying on the bed next to her I waited for her eyes to open so she could see me...

After falling asleep beside Brianne I jerked awake and saw that she'd crossed her legs and had been meditating. Looking over at her I said, "Brianne! You should be resting not up and about." She turned her head to face me and said, "I haven't actually left this bed. Though I've a question for you if you don't mind?" Looking at her I said, "Of course not what's on your mind?" Opening her eyes I saw they were an electric blue and the fact that she was looking at me unnerved me a bit. "What year is it? Also how long was I frozen in Carbonite? I want the truth Celiana..."

Pausing for a moment I remembered my promise and said, "You were encased in carbonite in 3972 BBY. Before the battle of Yavin, the current date is now 849 ABY after the battle of yavin so you're chronologically over two millenia old physically though you're only 23. There is something I was instructed to let you have when you returned though..." Pulling the sabers to my hands I placed them both in her hands and let them communicate to her as they would. After several silent moments she opened her eyes and tears streamed down her face. Looking at me she shakily said, "Thank you Celiana. You fulfilled your promise and I thank you for that." I wasn't sure what to say so I simply wrapped my arms around her and gently hugged her. Looking at her I said, "Now be quiet and get some rest. I'll be back in a bit..."
