Bastion, Kole & Lynnori's Apartment Building, Evening
Outside World | Interacting with [member="Lynnori Cruz"] ~ 505 ~ "I'm going back to 505."
——————————————————————

There wasn't a day that went by where Kole desired a drink less than the last, but it was always within his best interests to turn in for the night. He couldn't afford to spend anymore time away that apartment of theirs, for he was sure to slave away his entire day as a cog in the imperial machine. It was apart of that agreement, no? It was the only reason he had anything to look forward to beyond being off of his feet, numbing his mind with meaningless broadcasts, and a limited number of resources that he happened to be too lazy to go back out for. Even if Lyn was rather miserable within that building, or on it's roof, he knew she wasn't going to be in harms way.

It took some convincing, that's for sure, but he was ultimately allowing his captive to leave their home- but never by herself, of course. That would be irresponsible, and maybe too considerate of another person's well being. Even if she wasn't much of a person anymore, but it wasn't as if Kole had ever been. Those suspicions began to eat away at him more and more with each day that passed, too.

"You ready?" Kole had asked as he stepped in the direction of the door within their bland, albeit it cozy, apartment. They hadn't any destination in mind, but Bastion was certainly safe enough for an imperial operative and whoever may accompany him. Knowing Lyn? He was going to get that drink he so desperately needed.

It was no Coruscant, but it'd do.

That had been the sixth time that evening she'd reflected on that, a grin across her face nonetheless at the prospect before her. It seemed ridiculous, to be excited about such a thing, but, well, he had been keeping her here. She understood why, but that didn't mean she had to like it. She didn't like it. It had nearly boiled over, even.

A short sigh slipped loose before she was able to reply to Kole's question, "Almost. Patience is a virtue, you know!" Her voice had lifted as she had to speak from their bedroom, eventually emerging. Her fashion sense was always somewhat relevant; since moving to Bastion and, well, coming back from the dead, she'd shifted to more melancholic colours. Dark reds and browns and blacks to compliment, no doubt, her mood, but also to compliment those who held Bastion themselves. Just something sinister about the angular but simple outfit she'd chosen, "There. Now I'm ready."

No time was wasted in her arm slipping through his, the honey-blonde head of hair resting against his shoulder briefly in a short sign of sweet yet not-entirely-necessary affection, "We're going to a bar, yeah? I need a drink." Surely he'd anticipated that. With a smug smile that would surely put a scheming Toydarian to shame, a simple tug on their linked arms indicated she was more than ready to leave.

Always with the Coruscant.

It certainly seemed as if Lynnori had remembered Coruscant differently than Kole had, but it was really that they simply remembered different parts of their experiences on that planet. Not so much that planet, but the initial case that had them both meet. Kole had been able to recollect on the cold corpses, snapping bones, oozing blood, and violent roars. There were certainly positives to it, no doubt- the compulsion to take a second look in her direction the first time they met was one of them. Lyn, as far as he could tell, had some kind of gift where it were the greater moments that lingered in her memory. Ying and Yang, or so it seemed.

Kole had rolled those synthetic eyes of his within their respective sockets, and a grin that outlived the amused huff off of air he emitted had lingered. "Right, of course." He silently mused to himself with the briefest cock of his head as he faced the door, but ultimately turning back to face the inside of the apartment once it became apparent Lyn was on her way. There was that expression of admiration plainly slapped across Kole's face as he blatantly looked her up and down. It was flattering, probably. Maybe not.

"I figured." Kole replied with a certain smugness to his tone as their arms had become linked and he took a step straight through the doorway. It was to the elevator in which they went, and as they did the Droid has asked the other, "Nowhere else?" His head barely turning to face the HRD as his eyes threw themselves to the corner.

"What, you have more work to do?"

It came out just the slightest bit defensive, just a bit intended to sting, but who could blame her? Adjusting to a life of relative unemployment was difficult for her, especially when she was often left feeling left behind whenever she was woken by his careful movements out of their bed, him left thinking she hadn't been stirred, that she hadn't noticed that he had left, in her dreamlike state.

She did. She noticed, and knew every time, and knew how many footsteps it took for him to leave their bedroom, and to leave the apartment, and if she deigned to listen closely, how many it took to get down this very hallway. She knew that number by heart, since she counted them every time he left. It was nothing but routine, for the both of them. He left, she tallied. Nearly robotic.

That joke might have made her really smile once, but all things considered, it didn't anymore.

Their pace to the turbolift was lagged slightly by her wired caution, still not quite used to venturing out but also restraining herself from being too eager, "Could see a vid, I guess." War propaganda was all they were likely to find here, though. With Bastion being a good little Sith world, and all. Another reason she liked Coruscant, despite it's numerous problems, it survived sieges. It was made of tougher stock than any other planet in the galaxy.

This place? Who knew. Cheating death probably happened nightly around here.

That was something he never really thought of, but maybe he only chose to ignore it. It was the kind of realisation that was bound to hurt, and by now Kole had become rather adept at blocking out all the things that might hurt him. Fortunately, for his own sake, his 'family' was on that list. It prevented him from returning to Arbra- but with suspicion creeping over him it was the kind of thing he felt obligated to investigate. He often had been too curious for his own good. It had been one of the only things he was good at, though, and so he couldn't quite give it up; even in service to an Empire he always felt cautious within. Kole kept his head down and because of that when hammer's swung it soared overhead.

He didn't dignify her response with an answer. Least a verbal one, that is. His brow had instinctively raised in surprise, and a reactionary blowout of air escaped his lungs. If only he could tell her, or, if only he could bring himself to tell her.

Kole idly reached over to press a singular button that illuminated upon contact. The elevator began it's descent, and the transparent nature of the glass allowed complete visibility of Bastion's nightlife was they raced from the sky to the ground. It had more to offer than Lyn gave it credit for, but maybe he was to blame for that. Bastion, in his experience, had been similar to many cities across the galaxy; this one had simply been ruled by murderous psychopaths. They kept the peace in their own turf, however.

"D'you your research?" He asked, turning back to her. Lyn had spent more than enough time indoors to search for anything she might've wished she could see. Bars, as they had both known, had a similar affect on her as she did on most men- least when she was a Zeltron, that is.

Now a lighthearted smirk crossed her face, a shrug to chase it, "Nah. I'm just assuming we'll find a place. The people here seem miserable, so the alcohol industry must boom here."

Something of a depressing fact to point out, but true nonetheless. If there was anything the holonet had shown her about this place, in the boredom of confinement, it had shown her that, indeed, a large subest of the population drowned their sorrows away. She could relate.

"We'll get something strong and see what happens from there, hm?" Ah, that grin ought to slip away now, as it was turning just a bit sly. It tempered itself eventually, though, relaxing into more of that usual casual smugness. Like a cat who caught the mouse and was laying it on the doorstep.

He likely wouldn't have appreciated dead rodents, though. Analogies, analogies.

Hazel eyes upturned his way, like a girl stealing a look to her schoolyard crush, "Thanks. For this." The arm through his tightened a little, to yank him over closer with that new superhuman strength. Meant to be affectionate; came off more violent. She wasn't used to her own strength yet. Which had become... Excessively evident in shared physical activity. And also whenever she dared to travel to the roof. That as well. Mutually exclusive, sometimes.

"I appreciate it."

Dreadfully Distinct | Interacting with [member="Lynnori Cruz"] ~ 505 ~ "With your hands between your thighs.."
——————————————————————

Kole had a surprising amount of strength; it rivalled, if not overcame that of a Robotic Lynnori. It was concerning, really. There was no truthful explanation as to why or how, it simply was. It may be something the two of them can laugh at in recollection as the years go by, but the realisation was sure to be some kind of a disaster. Artificial Humanity was certainly a tricky thing, and the nature of Lyn's in comparison to Kole's was so vastly different. Prior to becoming an HRD there was nothing but a blood-black nothingness; nothing that was dreadfully distinct against the darkness. There was only an inception date, and he was none-the-wiser.

It were moments such as these that made his feigned humanity so real.

He glanced in her direction, his head bowed and neck craned to meet the significantly shorter woman. "Ah." He barely mouthed, allowing the sound to come out. Kole's head had nodded exactly once, facing Bastion in it's entirety. He let things sit, his sound stir before teasing himself. "The usual then." His gaze unwavering, his features unmoving.

Ultimately, however, things became more sincere- more demanding of a sense of seriousness and thus Kole peered his head back down to face Lyn. He hadn't stolen a look, instead opted for the blatant stare. "You deserve it." He replied with an honest smile. She did, didn't she? There was no reason to be held captive within her own home, and he'd apologise again if he hadn't enough times already. She was sure to be sick of hearing it by now, but sometimes he couldn't help it.

Tall White Fountain | Interacting with [member="Kole Harper"] ~ R U Mine? ~ "Years too late."
——————————————————————

It was swift, it was sudden. A brief shift to stand on the tips of her toes, to offer a mild brush of the lips. Sweet, short, and she was back flat on her feet as the turbolift doors hissed open. Almost as if it had never happened at all.

"Do you have a speeder?" She was hasty to change subject, speed past the intimate moments, and intentionally too. Emotional whiplash was certainly a tool, if not a weapon in the right hands, and she wielded it like the finest lightsaber on occasion to keep him on his own toes. Without waiting for his reply she began to tug him out into the lobby, to the street, finally into Bastion's brisk evening atmosphere. It gave her a smile like no other, no matter how bleak this world seemed.

In that moment, it was paradise, plain and simple.

"You have to have a speeder." Lyn insisted still, with a smile. Even as nagging thoughts insisted in her incapability to drive like this, she could still enjoy the ride. A pang of sadness, then, that tempered her bliss. The smiled dropped. Would she have to relearn how to fly?

It worried her. It openly worried her. She bristled a little then as her clutch on his arm tightened once more. There was a sudden yet brief tightness in her chest, an anxiety at the idea.

Kole anchored her in that moment, for those few seconds of fear.

He was sure to reciprocate the action if he had been able to register it's occurrence. Instead, there was something planted upon his lips and it only really made sense after her feet wholly met the ground once more. Kole certainly looked stupid in that moment, but there was nothing new to it; he always seemed rather taken aback or confused when Lyn made sudden affectionate advances, both of that nature and more. The HRD never really seemed to mind, though. Then again, who would? Even as an HRD, Lyn didn't seem to lose any beauty. Suppose they could finally concluded that those pheromones of hers never did work on him.

Kole moved alongside Lynnori, arm-in-arm as she had always preferred it. It was never explicitly stated, but Lyn had always done it and Kole never forgot. He had a smile of his own expressed across his features, and it existed solely as a reaction to her own. Her eagerness had been entertaining, and if she truly had an 'accident' he was never to wear such a smile- but that simply wasn't the case. "Course I do." Kole responded with a nod of his head, watching as that eager excitement faded into worrisome doubt. Interesting that his features had instinctively done the same. It was after he hunched his back, leant down towards her as he merely asked, "Do you wanna drive?" His tone was soft but relaxed.

It were times such as these in which he had felt nothing but relief and comfort in the fact that he was able to hide such burdens from her. Lyn had enough on her plate as is.

"No."

The divergence. Lyn's head shook a little, hazel eyes stared to the duracrete of Bastion's street. The synthetic-yet-organic irises traced the crevices and cracks in the pavement. Just one of many. Something behind her ribs felt heavy and throbbing, and her head faintly rocked back forth again, "You can."

Driving was a bad idea. There was a buzzing in her ears she wanted to banish, but couldn't.

Suddenly a part of her wished they'd never gone out at all.

Nonetheless, they were here now. To return from the dead was quite the act, but it had left some marks yet to fade, and maybe that just was one of them. Her hand dug into his arm needlessly hard, voice a disjointed whisper, "You, uh, can." She repeated a little unnecessarily, reaffirming her choice. For a second it was like she swayed, before her balance was regained. The buzzing ended.

"Just stop when we see something, I guess." God, did she need that drink now. Hard to place the feelings that had resulted in this bitter feeling now compressing her shoulders, but she was certain of the fact alcohol would drown it all out. Until then, her free arm and hand started to encircle his side, seemingly pulling him close for a rather odd attempt at a hug. Comfort. Stability. It only lasted for, again, a few passing moments, the side of the smaller HRD's head against his chest, before she started moving, de-tangling except for those linked arms-- That was a remnant of her love of those old romance vids, cheesy, but a remnant --and clearly searching the area for a speeder that Kole would frequent, "Which one is it?"

The Driver | Interacting with [member="Lynnori Cruz"] ~ 505 ~ "Oh, when you look at me like that, my darling."

His eyes had never fallen off of her, even as she stared towards the ground and trailed the slightest of damage in the sidewalks. It wasn't in admiration as it had been before, no longer had be studied her features for the thousandth time but instead took a peak into the corner of her eye as it turned away from himself. Kole looked at his companion in the way he had a hundred times before; it was when he realised the damage he had done, the distress and sadness he cast over her, had he made that face. It was sympathetic sadness, if nothing else.

Kole loosely placed an arm over the now robotic Lynnori, it glided over her shoulder as his hand rest in the centre of her back. She pulled herself close enough to where he didn't need to do anything but apply the smallest of amount of reassuring pressure. They couldn't become glum, least they merely turn themselves around and spend more time developing Lyn's cabin fever. Even Kole, admittedly, had become rather bored venturing around Bastion without company- he hadn't some kind of partner, and when there was something alongside him he'd trade them in a heartbeat.

He pulled out :^), bringing his arm back by his side and shuffling it inside a coat pocket. There'd been the familiar sound of keys being reached for; brought out and resting in his palm. The Droid had lazily raised his key wielding arm in the direction of a speeder. "Over there." He claimed with a nod of his head and a press of the keys. There were the lights that flickered onwards, alerting the two that it had been unlocked.

They walked onwards, feet pittering pattering against the sidewalk as Kole's synthetic eyes wandered wayward. There were all those lights and he couldn't help but find himself distracted. He considered engaging in small-talk, but that might make her reflect further on the fact that she spent it all indoors. Or, well, maybe Lyn left throughout the day and came home by night. Kole wouldn't be any wiser. It might be wise to start checking in throughout the day, but he couldn't afford to do that.

His Passenger | Interacting with Kole Harper

——————————————————————

She definitely missed their life of Bonnie and Clyde. Not a comparison she could actually make, but, you know, an apt one. Their untouchable teamwork, how they knew how the other worked relatively perfectly. They were in sync.

"Alright." Her reply was short and to the point, already moving to where her new, heightened senses had directed her to the noise, the flash of light from the corner of her eye. It wasn't an average car, her memory of the vehicles advised her-- Fuzzy yet trustworthy --and it'd get them where they'd need to go. It was with that confidence in mind that she slid into the passenger side, managing to find some semblance of peace after her period of panic. It was gone, that was gone, this was now, and now was going to be fun. Maybe that was just what she was telling herself.

"What're you feeling? A club?" She was prone to smalltalk, almost chronically. So long as they didn't touch on her rehabilitation-esque confinement, it couldn't be that bad to just chat. What else would they do in the bar, anyways?

Actually, she could think of a few things. A few things that'd likely get them kicked out. Maybe arrested. They nonetheless brought a grin to her face as she looked over, a more expectant and keen expression to her now. Whatever had troubled her had passed, as it always did, and now that wickedly charming Lyn was back.

Kole, unsurprisingly, was glad that life was gone. If it were possible for him to make such a comparison he was certainly going to outline the fact they both died, but in this instance only one of them had and that left the other to recollect on poor decision making process that led them into that scenario. Yet a second chance made itself known; they were rare, and not to be taken for granted. Kole wasn't going to make the same mistake twice, even if Lyn felt so strongly against it.

The Droid had brought the speeder's door open, doing so with a slight hiss and metallic whine at it raised upwards. He was able to slide into the vehicle, and whilst the door came back down to seal him inside, Kole had fiddled with several internal objects that brought such a thing to life. It was routine- something done every day. He had hoped, however, that this wouldn't be.

Maybe he was simply bad at small-talk. It'd make sense as to why Lyn always led that front. "I don't mind." Kole replied, ever unsure. His gaze pivoting towards her whilst the vehicle lifted up off of the ground. Kole saw that grin and he knew it was bad news, but he felt obligated to return it. "What is it?" He asked, curious and hesitant.

"Oh, nothing." It was never nothing, with Lynnori.

Bastion raced by. Her eyes wandered from him to the window and the cityscape beyond, "Thinking," The grin widened a little, "Thinking of how the night'll go." Ah. Ahhhh.

Can take the Zeltron out of, well, the Zeltron, but you can't take the Zeltron out of the... Well, you get it, surely. The short of it was that

His fear was evident. One thing she had retained, even with the loss of empathetic abilities, was her keen understanding of body language. Especially his, she could almost predict his reactions at this rate. The concern he'd had written across his face and hands and, sometimes, across--

"Oh, stop here!" Her head craned as a place sped by. It had, in the brief second her hypersensitive gaze had befallen it, appeared to be some sort of 'jazz' establishment, some sort of quiet murky dark bar sure to be full of smoke and whiskey. A fine place to start. Of course, Kole had driven right by, so her hand set on his shoulder as if he needed the touch to physically make him turn. Of course, he didn't, but it was a good excuse for that near-skin-to-skin contact, right?

There were still those mental sparks.

"That place looked good."

Halting | Interacting with [member="Lynnori Cruz"] ~ 505 ~ "Or I did last time I checked."
——————————————————————

He always knew there was something. Her mind always wandered, even to subjects that might be situationally inappropriate but Lyn never seemed to care. Kole could often read that former-Zeltron as if she were a book; there wasn't an inch unseen, and so there had been very few things that caught him off guard in regards to herself. At least, it should be that way. She always had a trick up her sleeve- a hand to play. There had been plenty of welcome surprises that inspired a hint of fearfulness in the instant it happened.

Kole had instinctively snapped his head towards the building Lyn was so evidently referring to. He hadn't stopped, though, he couldn't. There was the process of getting out of traffic, finding a park, and so on. His impatient passenger needed to understand that, especially after a firm hand slapped against his shoulder with a surprising amount of strength. It was a sharp pain, and the scowl reflected that, but hopefully it faded before she could even turn around to take note of it.

Their vehicle slid into a designated area alongside plenty of others. It was unremarkable, for whilst sturdy had nothing standout. "You sure?" He asked, his brow raising. It wasn't as if he was hesitant, just needing to know before he disembarked.

She didn't know her own strength, plain and simple. To her mind, she was still the equivalent strength of what she had been pre-accident, That sort of mentality definitely did not translate to the new, near-limitless strength this body had at it's disposal. It was why she casually recalled her hand off him without a second thought as to the pain she could have inflicted to her partner.

"Yeah. Why not?"

They'd finally parked, the HRD already reaching for the internal door release. Honey-blonde hair poked out from behind the frame of the speeder as her head craned to face the pathway that'd take them from parking to the club entrance, "Never been in one of these places before?" She muttered in question. Kole didn't seem like the type, anyways, but it wouldn't have been the most surprising thing to ever come up between them. Definitely not the last. Definitely not.

Idly, fingers rubbed and massaged the back of her neck as she waited for his response. Nearly-dull neon thrummed from the side of the building in question, occasional holographic advertisements flaring up. Sort of like Lithios, that impossible meeting. A soreness in the base of her neck faintly thrummed and Lyn was eager to try and rub it out. Well, some impossibility always jazzed up any store, hm?

"We can always go somewhere else, though." Best to be amenable.

It was from behind the glass, past her own features, that Kole had witnessed the building. It radiated a certain bright, neon colouring that been reminiscent of all too many. There was nothing entirely distinguishable about it other than the unique graphic that pertained to the type of building it was. Lyn was right; that building did look good. It had a flair to it, one he couldn't describe beyond the intrigued expression that rest across his face. Kole offered a soft nod in acceptance of that answer. It didn't seem to matter, really.

"No." The Droid had responded, sounding somewhat distracted after departing the vehicle. It wasn't for any real reason beyond the fact his current goal was closing the door behind him. Whether Kole cared to go to such a place didn't matter. He was more than willing to lie in an effort to make Lyn content with her decision. It was going to be fine, regardless.

Kole moved around the side of the speeder, his finger idly pressing down on a button that seemed to lock it before placing such a small and simple device within his coat pocket. "Everything alright?" Kole asked after noting her obvious discomfort, a hand placed against her back in an effort to guide her once more. It was as if she didn't know where to go unless Kole provided a general direction.

"Neck pain. Probably not used to the speeder yet." Hm. Yeah.

That was probably it.

Normally something about the way he was guiding her would have provoked a bit of ire, a bit of the old 'I can do it myself' but in that moment Lyn let him. The pair moved across the lot of speeders, over the bump where parking space met sidewalk met street, soon faced with the relatively unassuming exterior of the establishment. Dark metals, dark-tinted windows, the lull of soft, near-eccentric music from beyond a threshold that, most certainly, could qualify as dark. Lots of places on this planet could. It was the Sith's world. The door was pinned open by something, likely a stopper, letting the heavy scents of bitter alcohol and rich food and the smoke of no-doubt exotic drugs waft out into the cool evening air, "I hope they have something expensive." And strong.

That was all she said before tentatively stepping through, into the ambiance of this foreign land.

59f7285229.gif

They were seated after a moment of waiting, guided over by a silent droid that seemed to provoke something in Lynnori that seemed a bit like spite. Understandable spite, at least. It was like looking at a devolved version of yourself. She slumped a little in the booth they'd been given, tanned fingers fiddling with the glass ashtray as their robotic escort meandered off to assist someone else, "Nice place." She noted, the spare hand rubbing through her new hairdo before she looked over to the taller man beside her. The fidgeting hand shifted over to rest her hand atop his, assuredly lying idle too, "What's your poison?" She just barely avoided sounding the way she had the first time they'd met, surrounded by the dead, with a Human sweating his shoes off as she'd charmed her way into Kole's life. So who are you here to see, she had asked so casually, relative, lover, friend, enemy, random skug?

Coruscant's morgues seemed a lifetime away. Well. It was.

Fingers across his tightened momentarily at the memory, a nostalgic small smirk across her new face.

Thonking | Interacting with [member="Lynnori Cruz"] ~ 505 ~ "A knife twists at the thought I should fall short of the mark."
——————————————————————

It was the little things.

Kole had adjusted his several times upon entering the building. His eyes fell onto those that had been already dwelling within, tending to their food and private conversations. It was strange to think for all the horror stories you tend to hear regarding the Sith, they're simply people. They had lives of their own and it was slightly amusing to consider the possibilities of them never being all that much different than Lyn and Kole. People, but not exactly. Although, Kole had witnessed the military of this galactic superpower. It was darker there; a place where no music softly hummed in the background whilst smiles stretched over feasting faces. It forced a grimace, but here? Kole could used to being here.

The Droid had reared his head over his shoulder as something wheeled it's way over towards the two of them. It wasn't the one that was going to be leading them elsewhere, though. It had silently gestured towards Kole, more specifically the coat he was still wearing. He had removed it, of course, placing it within the obviously metallic arms of the slave-worker before it wheeled away into a room no real patron had access to. Kole began to shift through the place as he trailed behind Lynnori and the Droid that led the two of them to their table. His eyes, even now, idly wandered. Sometimes too curious for his own good, but that's what made him great at his job. Otherwise he might still be on Coruscant. He didn't know if that's something he'd prefer in this moment.

He offered a soft nod his head in response to that statement. "Yeah." He idly breathed, as well.

It was then that Kole had slunk himself into his seat, allowing a hand of his own to rest onto the table as the other rest itself upon his thigh. Lyn's soft and seemingly fragile hand reached over towards his own, and Kole turned his over to give it something of a loose and lazy grip. His thumb harassed it back and forth without so much of a thought. It was with pursed lips that he considered her question, shifting his head up to the right in thought. "Uhm." He didn't quite know, and so, as per usual, it fell to Lyn. "Anything you want it to be." Kole replied, his eyes interlocking with her own.

It was strange to think that it went from corpses to this. Kole, in a million years, was never going to make that assumption.
