Return to Katarr

A long time ago the long standing Sith Empire had fallen underneath the might of the combined Mandalorian Clans and the Galactic Republic. After the fall of the Empire, his home, his mentor and friend had fled from Sith Space and into the Mid Rim and Colonies Region of Space. From there, the duo had gone to the One Sith, found sanctuary there and worked close together at Fondor when the One Sith had their first engagement. But, before that the duo had landed upon the planet of Katarr, where their two powers combined sensed the power of a Jedi Master while they hid from the Republic in their own space.

This Jedi Master was none other than, [member="Kiskla Grayson"], and the duo that had meant to bring the Sith back to the ways of the Rule of Two, had combated the Master, and sent her on her way once the poison from the Sith Knight's, Darth Naefas's amphistaff. Naefas himself had been worse for wear between the two, since his former mentor had only been there to guide him, and protect him from the more devastating attacks Kiskla Grayson had to offer.

And for whatever reason, the Sith Knight had deemed it that with the Republic distracted enough by the attacks from the One Sith, he could return to Katarr to find a place to hide upon the planet that was the home to the Miralukans. Or one of their colonies.

After they had completed his Padawan's first Trial to his Knighthood, Zaren Bouqi had decided that his Padawan and he may as well leave the Temple for a while.

Could be why he's so uptight. Never goes outside.

And so there they were, their starships landing nearby to what would have once been known as a Miralukan settlement, but you wouldn't be able to tell it now. Once the Jedi duo had gotten of their starfighters, the Jedi Knight glanced over his ship's front to look to his Padawan, [member="Lupe Baracka"] and beckoned him over.

"Are you attuned with your senses? Tell me what you feel." The Protector said with an amused look upon his face.

[member="Darth Naefas"]

"Well... uh..."

Lupe closed his eyes and stood humbly for a good minute. It then hit him. His dark eyes now showed themselves, and his brow was raised.

"I sense it's a good thing I brought my saber."

His hand was trembling slightly as he reached for the basic hilt on his belt. He looked his Master in the eyes and shook his head, he also sensed [member="Zaren Bouqi"] wouldn't be doing much of the work.

"A shame that you do not have it then." The Jedi Knight said with an amused sound to his voice. The only thing that he had given his Padawan was a training lightsaber, easily tricked his Padawan was, and it was no problem to Zaren Bouqi. His Padawan's own lightsaber was actually upon his belt, and if [member="Lupe Baracka"] had proved right, then he would perhaps return it to him if need be.

Whatever his Padawan sensed from his Master, was incorrect as well. Since Zaren was clearly a beast.

"Try and do better than that, or else you may be getting yourself killed."

Amongst other people.

"You're going to focus upon the Force and look into whatever illusions you can sense." He said with a nod of his head and he looked out over the horizon as he waited for [member="Lupe Baracka"] to get to work on what he had said.

The Jedi knew there was a powerful being nearby, but that being was also concealing their presence in the Force, and that, wasn't the best thing for one as inexperienced as his Padawan. This was certainly his first combat situation, and to think he was facing off against a Sith with a training lightsaber wasn't always the best thing.

Lupe had an ornery feeling. His Master wasn't helping him; every single time he reached to the force, it said "life or death". Lupe experienced the force in the Jungle for the first time, not much had changed. He never felt a pure trust in it, what if HE altered its perception.

The force told him he had a guardian. No way it was Zaren, it must only be himself. What a Lupe conclusion to come to. He always thought he was his own savoir, fuel to the narcissism that plagued him. He used to have his brother throw rocks at him, he dodge most. But his brother pulled a lot of them... well... Lupe didn't think so

"It's time to go Master. Their is an elephant in the room."

Lupe inhaled.

"Let's chop his tusk." [member="Zaren Bouqi"]

He waited as along as it took, but when his Padawan had determined that it was time, he frowned and said, "we're outs- Okay." He stopped and just let it go and then continued in the direction that he sensed the Dark Side. His Apprentice had looked through the first layers of the illusion that he sensed, and he was proud to say the least, and he was certain that the Sith would soon reveal themselves to the Jedi duo.

"I trust you." He suddenly said as they walked through the plains, and with that, he unclipped his Padawan's own lightsaber and placed it lightly into his hand and turned to walk off in his armour, no reason to carry it anymore. His Apprentice was going to need a weapon, and he was going to ask for it eventually anyway.

[member="Lupe Baracka"], [member="Darth Naefas"]

In the distance was the Sith Knight, he was concealed within the Force from the start and he simply sat upon the top of his Sith Interceptor, awaiting the two Jedi that he had sensed land in the distance. One he thought he recognized, but alas it was not who he thought it would be, and then he continued working upon his illusion through the Force.

A long time ago he had been taught by Lady Kyros the way of the Mentalist aspect of the Force, it was quite useful in situations such as these when you needed to use your mental abilities to create an illusion and sheer power in the Force. Darth Naefas suddenly got up to his feet when he focused and saw the two Jedi in the distance and he clenched his fists at either side of his body.

Darth Naefas got off of the starship and let his black cloak billow around him in the air momentarily as he dropped from the ship, and taking his Sith Sword from his back he continued forwards towards the two Jedi until they were only separated by fifty feet and the Sith summoned the Force to himself for but a moment before he was suddenly ten feet away and was releasing a force push to the Jedi's Apprentice and continued forwards to lunge at the Knight.

[member="Zaren Bouqi"] - [member="Lupe Baracka"]

Lupe let out a cry of pain. He hated getting force pushed, his back was sensitive and this always hurt.

He laid down for a short amount of time, but it felt like a few hours. His thoughts were really internal, like when you're underwater. He could only think about how this was the end, if Zaren died he were to be lunch meat. For once the battle injected fear into his every breath. Lupe knew laying down wouldn't help his master, he wouldn't die laying down either.

Lupe gained his sea legs, he turned his saber on. He couldn't open his eyes, he didn't want to just yet.

"Damn Imperialist."

I knew he was unprepared.

The Jedi Knight thought to himself as the Sith lunged at him and he guided the crimson blade along the length of his own, whilst he was moving further into the Knight's guard and once he was there he smashed his hilt off of his adversary's chest, to knock him back and possibly wind him, it was the only way he was going to take down the larger fellow.

If it worked, he would have pressed his attack and leapt towards the Sith, and swing his lightsaber towards his midsection, intending to perform the sai tok maneuver upon him.

[member="Lupe Baracka"], [member="Darth Naefas"]

No time to waste.

The push had hit the Padawan and he had been knocked back for what was quite a while, but he wasn't moving to help his Master. Coward. He chortled just as the hilt of the Jedi Knight crashed into his chest and Darth Naefas tucked backwards into a roll. When the Jedi Knight came down upon him to swing at his chest, the Sith Sword rose upwards into his defense and knocked it back and upwards.

Once Naefas was upon his feet again, he released a torrent of force lightning upon the Knight with his off-hand and waited for the attack of the Padawan.

[member="Lupe Baracka"], [member="Zaren Bouqi"]

Lupe was ready to slice this fool, or die trying. He recalled his readings of Obi-Won vs. Darth Maul. It was inspired and al Lupe had was a battle cry. While his mentor was barraged with lighting he jumped into action.

He ran several yards and jumped over the dirty Sith. He immediately dropped a level and baseball bat swung his back (With his saber of course). He hoped he could catch him off guard.

It was one of his favorite moves to be honest.

His Padawan took the offensive, which was good enough for the Knight as he advanced underneath the torrent of lightning that came from the hands of the Sith Knight. He was not going to let himself be cooked alive by this purplish lightning wielding, crimson fleshed being. No. He had a Galaxy to protect, and for that reason, he was going to win.

The purple beam crackled as the lightning skittered over the beam, and kissed his hands with their burning touch and he frowned as he continued into the worse of it.

There was no losing today.

Letting go of his lightsaber for a moment, his right hand was snapped to the side and with that, the Force answered and guided most of the lightning away from his person and just barely past him. And then he begun to speed up the process of approaching the Sith.

[member="Lupe Baracka"], [member="Darth Naefas"]

When the Padawan leapt over him he barely spared a glance to follow his body as he lifted up his Sword instinctively to block the blade. Once the blade met the lightsaber, he felt the force lightning being pushed to the side and when he sensed the presence of the Jedi Knight coming closer, he moved closer to the Jedi Padawan to try and push him back.

"You're weak, Jidai. Leave me be, or else you will be cut down by all my brothers and sisters."

And once he was close enough, he let the sword guide the lightsaber away from the both of their bodies and in the space of a heartbeat, snapped around and threw a force push directly into the chest of the Jedi Padawan. The Sith Knight was a Master of his own body, of a Master of Soresu and quite proficient at protecting himself from attacks.

If the need be, he was certain he'd take a page out of the Jedi Master's book that he had fought on this same planet so long ago. Once the force push was sent, he came back around to swing his Sith Sword up into what he thought would be the next attack from the Knight.

[member="Zaren Bouqi"] - [member="Lupe Baracka"]

Same song and dance. Lupe was on the turf and his weakness was tested. He just asked himself if he was ready to be a knight, if he earned it should he stay on Typhoon. Was he ready to go out on his own at this point? He couldn't even kill the Sith with a great Jedi, well... we shall see.

He got on his knee's and ignited his saber. For some reason It was hard to open his eyes, probably hit his head too hard when he was pushed 30 plus yards away.

"Hey poodoo!"

It almost sounded like a drunken yell.

"WE know [member="Zaren Bouqi"] could kill you. He's just letting me get a stab at you. Stop using that force push...ah... cheese."

He stood up and stumbled. His eyes finally opened though.

"It's your time to die." [member="Darth Naefas"]

Lupe slowly marched to him with his sabre high.

"Shut up, Lupe." He said just loud enough for him to hear him over the sound of battle. From the sound of his voice it was clear that he wasn't going to be letting the young Baracka off easily if they both lived through this encounter. The Sith Knight was clearly experienced, more experienced than the Jedi Knight, but he wasn't going to let anyone know that.

I've used it only a few times, I can't use it just yet.

You've got to save your Padawan.

I'd rather not.

That's a lie.

Shut up.

For a moment he had thought that he had had the Sith Knight, and then he was turning around to face him, and his Sith Sword came in between Zaren's lightsaber and his body. The Sith had cut it quite close too, he had only stopped it with the flat of his blade, and Zaren's lightsaber was capable of shearing off the Sith's head, but instead he was shoved back off of the Sith. He was bigger than him, but only by a handful of inches, and yet it was enough to push him away.

For your family. For Ben, for Zane, and for...

He stopped moving when he forgot the name of his third brother.

Darth Naefas laughed loudly at the words of the Jedi Padawan. The Padawan had been pushed away before, and was only approaching now. But he paid no heed to the young one when he turned around and the flat of his Sith Sword just barely blocked the blade of the Jedi Knight. Naefas felt the Sith Sword cutting into his own flesh, and the slight burning sensation due to the close proximity of the blade and he smiled when he let the Dark Side sweep into his body.

He wasn't going to let a Master and an Apprentice fight him, and win. There was no time for that, "let go of your arrogance, Jidai boy." He laughed as he shoved the Jedi Knight away, and when he expected another attack to come at him from the Knight, nothing happened and Naefas paused just for a moment as his right hand dropped to his waist, unclipping his second lightsaber and brushing the ignition button, only to saberthrow it behind him directly to the Jedi Padawan that was advancing.

He meant to sever the wrist of the Padawan that was holding the lightsaber high, or at least one of them, and then he leapt forwards towards the Knight that seemed to be frozen, and he brought the pommel of his Sith Sword into the gut of the Jedi, and when the Jedi fell before Naefas his knee rose up and into the nose of the Knight to throw him backwards and away from him.

Then the Sith Knight turned around to look at the Jedi Padawan. "You're going to have to die now."

Lupe ducked the saber throw. He was still in a daze, this would be awful. He dropped his saber down to his waste and let his arms dangle as he leaned forward. He nodded dramatically and closed his eyes, as if he was listening to a drum pattern.
"I'm immune to mortality."

Only if Zaren knew battle meditation.

Lupe ran to fill the short gap, he launched a front snap kick towards his face.
[member="Zaren Bouqi"]

Lupe felt no fear. He realized he had numbers, he had the Protector of Typhoon.

Darth Naefas called the lightsaber that he had thrown back to him once he had let it flown for a few moments. But by then the Padawan thought it'd be a good idea to move towards him, he swung his Sith Sword towards [member="Lupe Baracka"]'s leg as it came at his face. It was a silly mistake to kick at an enemy's face if you weren't performing a more lethal attack, but it was amusing nonetheless.

Idiot.

Then the lightsaber had been caught in his hand and he ignited the blade again.
