Reunion; Interrupted (Josh)

Amnell de Portiers

The Girl With An Expiration Date
Ord Mantell - An Open Market

For her Ord Mantell was a place to rest for a bit before she'd be moving on, likely back to the core for medical treatment. That was a neverending part of her life, one that couldn't be ignored or avoided. Though she sure as hell tried to keep it hidden from the outside galaxy. Her condition wasn't something she wanted anyone to know about. She didn't want the pity or their treatment of hers to change in the least. So she had gotten good at keeping people at arm's length.

The planet was to be something of a refuge world for her, for a little while anyway. Sure it had its criminal elements that were more prominent than other worlds, but it was for the time being far away from the wars and sparing of other governmental powers. The kind of things Amnell wanted to avoid these days. She'd had enough of that in her life. Between what happened with the Netherworld, and that weirdness, she'd been on the forefront of far too many battles during that; Duro, Vandelhelm, Sullust, Eriadu, and Naboo to name a few.

After? Well, that was a longer story. There had been one kidnapping attempt which resulted in; three force users were playing with lightsabers trying to kill one another, one sniper who shot the barkeep and crippled her personal droid. One mysterious woman was trying to take Amnell by force from the bar. Someone decided calling the cops was an excellent idea and would help the situation. For the record, it did not. And if that wasn't enough the bar burned to the ground before all was said and done.

It was the kind of thing that only the likes Micheal Bay could dream up. Except, unfortunately, it had been Amnell's reality. Of course, then there was the confusing actual kidnapping that she still occasionally wondered about, some elements of it were so strange it was hard to wrap her mind around it all.

Her life did calm down a little after that. She'd inherited a company, with an untold amount of research that it did into her particular disease, not that it offered her too many more options, at least not yet anyway. And there was a ball, where she'd run into a certain Jedi, though she barely remembered it. One who she had no idea she'd run into again before the day was over.

With a soft sigh, Amnell wandered from stall to stall in the market looking for supplies she needed and items she wanted for her journey further into the core. If only she knew what this day was going to bring her, she might have made different decisions about what she was doing and where she was. But everything happens for a reason, right?

How long ago had [member="Amnell de Portiers"] met the young, or well, not so young now... Jedi Master, and would she remember him now? His hair was longer, his once clean-shaven and clear, youthful face wore hair as much as was on his head, and he looked a fair bit older now. Not too much older, mind... [member="Shmi Labooda"] liked to joke that her husband had some magic with the Force that kept him youthful, and he would likely look 40 when he was in his 80s... Not that he minded. If his body kept up with his looks, then he didn't mind that he could fight longer.

If he knew about her "Expiration date" he'd joke that clearly, that expiration date was far longer then most food since she was still here in the... How many years had it been since he had seen her? Not sure at this point. Regardless, Ord Mantell was in the outer regions, which meant that was where he had been spending a good deal of time. Of course, Josh had already finished his business on Ord Mantell... It had been the end to a series of missions he'd done in the area throughout the Outer Rim. Normally he spread them out, went home after every mission or two in order to spend an extended period of time with his wife and son. But here, he'd done a cluster as the planets they were based in were in a close range. It was just easier to do it this way. But the fact was, his body was tired. After he was done with Ord Mantell today, he was going home and he was probably not going to be out on the field again for another month at least. Maybe two, with how much he'd strained himself. He couldn't do what he used to anymore, going from mission to mission without much of a break at all. Not because his body would give out... But because he had a wife and a son to look out for, and he wanted to be there for them.

With his mission finished, he walked through the marketplace to stock up on supplies for the ride back home. He noted he'd have to stop at a space mart or something when he got close to Naboo for groceries proper, but he was pretty much out of supplies for the trip back, so he had to make sure that he was stocked up and could eat until he got home, while he was here. As he walked, though, he would pass a familiar face... One that caused him to quirk his brow and stop.

"Don't I know you?"

Tip of his tongue...

Amnell paused and looked to the gentleman who'd spoken to her. The face was oh so familiar, she definitely knew him from somewhere. The brunette just couldn't quite put her finger on it just yet.

"I..." She stopped just to think for a second, "I think so." A little nervously she bit her lip, before it finally struck her, "Your name I can't remember but you and I I think we shared a drink at that business auction and ball some time back. Now, your name alludes me, but the face I do remember."

With a warm smile she reached out to shake his hand, "I'm Amnell by the way, Amnell de Portier." Funny how small the galaxy really can be sometimes. She mused to herself. "Didn't really imagine that I'd run into anyone at all that I knew in any regard this far out."

"Yes, Amnell, I remember you. I always remember the cute ones" He would joke, with a hearty chuckle in turn, deciding to break the ice with his usual brand of humour. Or perhaps it was the easiest way for her to remember him properly, he'd thought? It had been years, after all. Years since he had last seen Amnell. He would reach out to shake her hand to meet her offer. "Josh DragonsFlame. I'm surprised myself... I hadn't expected to meet anyone I actually knew all the way out here" He would admit.

"So what're you doing out here, Miss Amnell?"

Amnell blushed a little, just a little. "You are rather sweet." A small laugh followed. It had been forever since they'd seen one another, and this seemed a miracle against the numbers for them to meet here and now. Funny how the galaxy and the Force worked. "Josh, yes now I remember a hair better."

She smiled though a bit sadly, "Mostly? I've been trying to avoid war and the costs of war. Seems I inherited a company along the way, long story.... And with all of that, I'm just trying to find my way in the galaxy, looking for the place that I actually belong. Though, I suspect that may take a good deal longer than I want to admit to." The joys of life and the journeys it brought. She was just really starting to figure out what hers would be like. It was going to take her a while longer to figure much more than that out especially with her illness taken into consideration. "What about you? Surely you're not here just for the scenery."

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

"Am I as sweet as you remember?" He would tease back, a gentle but hearty laugh escaping him as he would throw old hints of his old brand of wit to help jog his former associate's memory. Of course, despite that, his behaviorism seemed... Well, quite tone down compared to the Josh that she, and others knew.

But, well... Married life, and being a father, did that.

He listened as she would get him up to speed with what she was doing here. To her question? He shrugged his shoulders. "Well, I'm still a Jedi. A little bit older, a little bit wiser, not doing as much Jedi stuff... But still a Jedi. I had some business to take care of here, was just on my way back to my ship, actually" He would explain. "Got people waiting for me, back home."
