Hazel Zanteres

The Angel/Devil on your Shoulder
Balmorra,
Pavanos Residence

As the Pavanos homestead came into view, a degree of tension twisted in Hazel’s stomach. She wasn’t sure why, was it concern or worry towards how things had ended? That being nothing at all. Amongst the people Hazel had known, she hadn’t said anything to either Pavanos before effectively disappearing. It was that unknown that made the Hapan hesitant. Everyone else she had known, she had left on a certain note, be it good or bad. But with the Pavanos, she had effectively just vanished, never bidding them goodbye.

Years had passed since then, and during her little escapades out into the galaxy, Hazel tried to gather information on former acquaintances and friends.

There was part of the Hapan that wanted to reconnect with something of her old life. For whatever that was worth, even if just to have a piece of that still around. She had burned many bridges in the wake of her departure.

Hazel stepped out of her vehicle, looking not much different than she had years ago. Maybe a little sign here or there, but her Hapan genes kept her youthful.

The blonde woman took a deep breath, walking towards the door. She hoped her sudden appearance wouldn’t end badly. With another pause, Hazel raised her hand and knocked.

It was a quiet day, for once. The twins and Aradia were off-planet, Gideon was out into the city with his ma, and Azarin was at the library. Surprisingly, though, Kaalia really wasn't too excited about that. As if Aradia's situation hadn't been concerning enough, now Xarielle was dealing with her own struggles. The way for her to cope with that stress?

Baking.

Kaalia's cooking was terrible. She gladly left that to Ishana so that way she couldn't ruin dinner, but baking was a different story. Some would suspect Kaalia laced her cookies with some kind of addictive substance. Two pots of stress-baked cookies already sat on the kitchen top, and Kaalia just shoved a third batch into the oven when she heard knocking on the front door.

She wasn't expecting any visitors today. Strange.

"One second!"
Kaalia called out from the open window. It didn't have direct sight to the front door, but whoever was there would hear her. She closed the oven door and turned it on after tossing off her oven mitts, then quickly scurried off towards the door. She opened it, curious to see who had decided to pay a visit.

The answer was a surprise, to say the least.

"Hazel? Oh my goodness! You're... come in, come in," she said with a tinge of excitement before stepping aside to let Hazel in. "It has been years! I'm relieved to know you're alright." The sudden cessation of contact had always lingered in the back of Kaalia's mind. It was good to see she wasn't dead.

Immediately after the knock, Hazel felt tense. She didn’t know why, it wasn’t like she was knocking on death’s door or something. Now if she was about to see Nylea or Nora…then yeah that would be an entirely different situation.

Hearing Kaalia’s voice brought a small smile to the Hapan’s face. She hadn’t heard it in years, and yet it seemed as though the redhead was happy. Albeit, Hazel had missed the entire Sith middle from now and when she had last seen Kaalia.

Good to see you too, Kaalia.” Hazel smiled, stepping into the Pavanos abode. She expected to hear the rambunctious racket of a family. Instead, it was rather quiet. But the blonde assumed she had simply arrived on one of the more peaceful days.

Indeed, it’s been far too many years since…” The Hapan’s voice drifted off as her nose caught the scent of something. She wasn’t completely certain what it was, but there was never any mistaking the general telltale smell of it. “Are you…baking?

Okay sure, Kaalia had settled down with a family, wife and kids. But there was something about the redhead actually baking, that drew an incredulous shock from Hazel.
