Neimoidia, Hypergate Construction Site

Inspections of the security arrangements of the gate construction sites had been going about as routine as these things could go. Most of these sites were safe worlds, but their client, Locke and Kry, had invested a considerable amount of resources into this project and they were being a paid a considerable amount of credits to make sure that nothing happened to them. Neimoidia was Alliance space, and last he'd heard they were being somewhat cagey during discussions about construction of a hypergate at Fondor, citing security concerns. Nyles could care less. If the Alliance wanted to throw away an opportunity like this, that was on them, he got paid the same either way. Though he couldn't help but think how much faster their exodus from Coruscant to Fondor would have been with a system like Locke and Key's hypergates in place.

Though there were some GADF ships in system, the majority of armed vessels in place belonged to the Trade Federation. "You think they're here to try something?" asked Emri, nodding at the magnified holographically projected view on the inside of the bridge's forward viewport of the Alliance warships in the distance. It wasn't a serious question. If either of them had really thought that the Alliance was going to try something they would have brought the ship up to combat alert. In any case, they might be particular about the hypergates, but Neimoidia had as far as he understood some say in the very least about what went on in their own orbit.

"Nayc," he responded. "They've got enough problems on their hands, they're smart enough not to make new ones." Even as the words left his mouth, doubt about the veracity of his own words nagged at him. They did have enough problems however, that much was for sure. Even though they had been relatively quiet off late, the Dark Empire was still all-too present, and now the Dar'jetii had reached the Alliance's borders to the galactic south. That was not to mention the Neo-Crusaders. Those dini'la di'kute were another issue entirely. Some lessons had to be learned more than once, or as it appeared to be the case with this lot of kadtape shabuire, probably never.

"With how long it took them to pay us after Coruscant, are you sure about that?" asked Emri, fixing him with a stare from behind her buy'ce. Nyles let out an amused snort, though he was far from amused by the reminder. "How the shab are any Mando'ade working for them is shabla beyond me," added Emri, the venom that she'd laced in her words not being lost on him. She was preaching to the choir, but he'd long given up trying to understand why it was that other Mandalorians did things that seemed din'la or in the very least ill thought out.

"When you figure that one out, you'll probably find the reason why there are still those who believe the Crusader doctrine is a viable way of life," he said with a bitter laugh. Emri returned the same.

Out of hyperspace a lone GS-77 gunship came forth. Maintaining a steady rate of speed it headed toward the Darasuum Morut. Onboard Minerva kept her grip on the flight controls. Wearing her helmet she looked out toward the small force of Mandalorian and Alliance ships guarding the hydergate construction. This was a long time coming.

It had been months since the battle of Coruscant but the warrior hadn't forgotten what Nyles and his band had done that day.

My company would've suffered further casualties if it had not been for them.

Of course Minerva didn't just come on the way out here to just express her gratitude. That could've easily been done via hologram or even a text message on the Holonet. No, there is more to this reunion than just that. Approaching the site the veteran commando sent a recognition code to the Alliance ships, letting them know that she is a friendly.

Once it was acknowledged Minerva then sent a call to the mercenary's flagship.

"Pas Nyles. Bic b ni, Minerva. Ni kar'taylir ibic cuyir vaya'niye a liser mhi jorhaa'ir? Ni cuyir va olar bat e Tom acar gar ganar ner miit."(Hey Nyles. It's me, Minerva. I know this is unexpected but can we talk? I'm not here on any Alliance business you have my word.)

She closed her eyes and waited for her vod's answer. Truth be told she was aware of the possibility that this could be turned down and the Mandalorian mercs probably thought less of someone like her for fighting under Aruetii banner. But Minerva took this chance anyway, not caring if they did. If nothing else Nyles and his bunch would surely give her their honest opinions.

They’re true vode I wouldn't expect anything less. They're not the Enclave and nor the Neo Crusaders for that matter.

"Picking up an incoming contact out of hyperspace, GADF IFF," called Anni Kyrdol about as quickly as the other ship's holographic icon winked into existence on the main tactical display. The generic icon updated to a holographic representation of the craft, a GS-77. One of Jaeger's products, from a time when the Alliance didn't employ protectionist measures. Not that he would have used a Sith-affiliated company's product were he in their position. It was a good product, however, that much could not be denied. What it was doing here, however, he had yet to ascertain.

"Those gunships are usually Alliance rammikade," observed Emri. "Why do I doubt they're not just transiting through?" she asked pointedly. Nyles had known Emri long enough to know that she didn't for a moment believe that whoever was on that shuttle was here to try something. No one was that jare'la. No, something else was going on, but neither of them had enough of an idea of what, or one of them would have voiced it by now. So for the moment, both Nyles and his XO stared at the holographic representation of the gunship that pretty quickly became apparent to the two naval officers was on heading in their direction.

"Alor, incoming communication for you, putting it through to your buy'ce," called Gett Netra, the Morut's comms officer a moment later. Nyles nodded. If this wasn't an explanation for what was unfolding, he didn't know what was. As he listened to the voice that filtered in through his helmet speakers, he'd be lying if he didn't say that he was pleasantly surprised. Minerva? What was she doing here? On unofficial business too. Really, there was only one thing that he could think of.

"Abiika, transmit landing telemetry. Gett, patch me in," he said without any added context. Neither Gett nor Abiika said anything. A new icon flashed in his HUD, alerting him to the fact that he was now connected to the ship's comms suite. "Minerva, su'cuy. Ven'nari chaa'dinuir'ar rusur telemetry. Jate'shya jorhaa'ir e'r adate."

"Let me guess," started Emri, prompting Nyles to slightly incline his buy'ce in question. "Minerva Fhirdiad?" she posited. His lack of an immediate response must have given him away, because Emri followed up with an explanation of how she'd reached her guess, "Alliance rammikade, and you immediately gave the order to let them land. That and you didn't order a security team to the hangar."

Nyles laughed. "Why am I even surprised at this point, vod?"

"You shouldn't be," replied Emri without missing a beat before going back to monitoring her terminal.

"Acknowledged." Minerva replied through the shared channel.

Twisting the controls she turned the ship from the side. At the sight of the landing bay the warrior slowed her approach. The next few minutes she sat in the pilot's seat as this continued until entering through the energy field.

Directed by a Mandalorian giving signal lights outside to the left side she navigated the gunship to the spot. Subsequently Minerva activated the landing gear with a flip of a switch and brought the ship down. A thud followed causing some vibrations. She let go of the controls and sat up.

Looking around Minerva gave herself some moments to reflect. Years ago she joined the Alliance Military to fight the Mawities and the former Empire. Then staying on to the next wars that have been going on ever since. Honestly she was surprised that she stayed with the GADF as long as she had. They accepted her even during the struggle against the Enclave and now the Neo-Crusaders.

She will always be grateful for that and the friends she made among them, especially the troops and Jedi she served with over the years. Yet she had been isolated from most of her own adopted people all this time.

The battle of Onderon and the following feast with Clan Kryze made that clear to her. Minerva exited from the cockpit then three minutes later was in front of the closed ramp. Pressing a button in one of her vambraces the ramp opened with steam hissing repeatedly. Minerva confidently stepped down before leaving the gunship finally.

Sure enough Nyles was waiting for her with some of his followers. Smiling underneath the helm she nodded.

"Thanks for seeing me on short notice Kote. I realize you're on a busy schedule so I'll cut to the chase."

Removing her helmet to let her vod see the sincerity in her eyes as she looked back at their visors.

"Two rotations ago I resigned my commission in the GADF. I’m no longer part of the Alliance military. The reason why is because I wish to join Strill if you would have me."

She meant every word of it. Sighing Minerva then confessed.

"Look, we barely know each other and I'm not asking for any special favors. Just tell me how I can earn the right to join you all. I want to be among vode again."

The veteran warrior kept a calm expression but in her heart she had been aching all these years to be with fellow Mandalorians again. Ones who followed a similar code of honor like she did and Strill Securities fit that. Of course the question is will they accept her?
